    Great review. I actually watched this a day or so ago, but got busy, and didn't have a chance to comment. The functions of this piece are actually really quite impressive for the price point, esp. on a fully analog watch. Technology really has come a long way over the years. I think the "nato," suits it perfectly. Keep up the good work my man.

    Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it’s a great tool watch that doesn’t look like a cluttered mess considering the functions offered. Holds its own in terms of having some rugged aesthetic yet stylish. I really enjoyed your review format and editing, subbed 👍

    3:39 The back cover is not screwed, but snaps. Unfortunately. Just look at the back cover, you'll find a tab on it. It can be used to snap the back cover off. It would have been better if the back cover was screwed, much more reliable, and better suited for a 100-meter water resistance rating.

    Very cool watch. I like the stainless steel case and the analog read outs which gives it a different look to the mostly digital display on these types of watches. The size is really cool too as most watches in this category tend to be near 50mm. Did you check if the readings are accurate? Most watches with a thermometer for example need to be left alone and off your wrist to get a good temperature reading. Watch would really benefit from solar as those permanent functions should eat battery life pretty fast. Great and comprehensive review, thanks!

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 года назад +1

      Readings were accurate. What's great is you can calibrate the compass and tide to maximize the accuracy. The manual tells you to do that right away as the factory setting will be different from where it ends up going. It also states to take the watch off for a little bit for the thermometer to get the best assessment of ambient temperature, but that's fairly standard across every brand. Solar would make this watch an absolute beast. I'm surprised they did not decide to implement that feature.

    I got this watch. Love the look. Only negative for me is the hr and min hands.Very hard to tell the time at a glance. They get lost against the dark dial and white indices. They should have made it white for the complete length of the hands so that they can be easily spotted, or maybe coloured different like say yellow (the tide button colour) to provide more contrast

      If the second hand is off, it's by an unnoticeable amount in real life (at least that's how it is on mine). It may look worse on the video because of the camera angles.

    • @FiZZ..
      @FiZZ.. Год назад

      @@degenerateWA I have seen other videos and they do have it slightly off sometimes, but for the money I think they should have a proper ticking seconds hand or they can go the Seiko route of having a smooth seconds hand for quartz whichever is feasible. My OCD can't handle it lol 😬

    Very nice watch, and a nice size for us big wristed fellas! Excellent review. Might be better on a normal strap as the NATO might add a little bit too much to the height. Would love to join the FB community but gave up FB many years ago. Good luck to everyone who enters the giveaway; I do understand the issue with the indicator hand. On my G-Shock Mudmaster the minute hand acts as the compass pointer so you don't need an extra hand on the dial, and of the temperature is on a separate digital screen.

    • @degenerateWA

    What the nato strap size for this watch??

  • @childrolland
    @childrolland 2 года назад

    It has its charms, but way to many hands on the same axis (cluttered). In my opinion, with these analogue temperature and tide features constantly running in the background (+ indiglo, which is an eye kandy) the battery will run out real fast. In my opinion, they have put standard battery but not a solar one because it would not support the power hungry functions of the watch reliably + it would be more expensive (more overpricing required). Great review - Thank you!

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  2 года назад

      There's room for improvement. I think in this case the Expedition could really benefit with an ana-digi movement. In fact, if they made this change I believe it would outshine many Casio Protreks simply by the case materials alone.

  • @rizwan1983
    @rizwan1983 Год назад

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  Год назад +2

      It doesn't detect the tide. It assumes the tide position based on the current moon/sun position which progresses on a normal 24 hour cycle. The user has to manually set the tide position based on current tide charts and then the watch will automatically cycle from high tide to low tide as time moves forward.

    • @degenerateWA

      Same as your Garmin. The manual specifically states that you need to remove the watch for a few minutes in order to get an accurate reading. Would be cool to see a temperature watch that had a thermally resistant shield facing the body so this wasn't an issue.
