I love how you answered Heather's question. I'm going to keep that in mind the next time I talk with someone who is curious about homeschooling.
Wonderful video as usual, Ashlee! 😊

I enjoyed this video - I am happy for you that your children are close because of the lifestyle you have chosen. I am a bit older than you (as in 3 of my 5 children have launched from our home!). We homeschooled all 5 children (still have 2 at home) and our children are still very close as young adults. I know that homeschooling played a big role in that. It also made it really hard on my heart when they did leave our home. The oldest 3 are 4 years apart and they all have launched in the last 9 months (one got married, one moved from NY to CA, and one leaves in a few weeks for Marine boot camp) - and honestly, I've cried a lot in these last months. Not out of depression or an unhealthy attachment to my kids, BUT I just miss them. I've been with them every day for the last 20+ years and they are my favorite people in the world! I wouldn't change our family life for anything. God bless you and your young family!

Jennifer Dionne awe this touched my heart, Thankyou for sharing your feelings! I know I will feel the same way! Mine are all born within 4 years of each other so they will all leave the home pretty consecutively and I know my heart will hurt! So thankful to know that you look back with gratitude, I hope to do the same!

Such a great video!!!! I'd love a co-op video. It's very tough to find that perfect fit in a co-op.

Awesome Q&A ...I totally agree on the nap and routine thing ... it's so important and it's something that we don't compromise even on weekends ... just special occasions / holidays. TFS!

I love the answer to Heather Torres' question! I had a tough time putting things on hold to "just be" and let the season pass! I wish I was more prepared for this at first.

Totally agree on ordering curriculum...we order in the spring, and I need to look inside the book (usually online) before ordering! Timberdoodle is also a great site for ordering curriculum. 😊

Mama to Four yes, I have to actually hold it and look through it to see if I like it, which makes curriculum shopping hard work! I'll check out that site, Thankyou!

Prepping for school at night is something I definitely need to get better about. I'm such a night owl....it totally makes sense for me to be doing this! I'm so glad that I realized this when we have 3 weeks remaining in the school year. LOL

Ashley Parr this was filmed awhile ago, I ended up using sonlight again and have enjoyed our year!

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry that I didn't notice the date! I see now! This particular video popped up on my suggested feed and I didn't notice at first! I am so sorry! I was curious if you were considering The Good and the Beautiful because I remembered from a previous video you mentioned you had enjoyed their Human Body study. But now it all makes sense! Thank you so much!

I do actually have one more question, you mentioned in your video that your kids know that they must complete the work that you ask of them, whether it takes 3 hours or 3 minutes, and this made me a bit curious--would you care to share a bit about how you make sure their work is completed in a timely fashion? Do you use a chart for them, or some type of motivator for when they have finished a specific subject? I'm just curious as to how you prevent dilly-dallying if that makes sense! Thank you in advance!

Ashley Parr no worries! I will be announcing what we plan to use next year soon! Spoiler alert: it’s not sonlight

Rachel at day2dayjoys hahaha! Thanks for leaving me a question, funny story, when I filmed this I had already ordered a different curriculum and received it a couple days after I put this up, looked through it decided against it, and ordered sonlight again 😂 I debated on deleting the video but decided not to.
So YES, I'll be using them again! Just not for science.

Hi!! Do you recommend curriculum for your kindergartener? If so what do you use? Thank you for doing these videos, so helpful on my homeschooling journey! We are just starting with our first child entering kindergarten homeschool this fall! :)

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  7 лет назад +2

Laura Knauff yes for kinder I do recommend some curriculum. I've used bob books, horizons math, all about spelling, all about reading, and handwriting without tears, I actually have an end of the year review video where I'll cover everything I used again, so stay tuned!

I am currently homeschooling 1 of my 3 kids. We did kindergarten this year with my oldest. I am looking into sonlight 1st grade for next year. Do you have any specific reasons your not using sonlight again? I know a few people that love it but would love to know your opinion. Thanks so much!

Co-ops are sooooo hard to find the right fit! Love your tips for finding one!
Check out RainbowResource.com for curriculum and supplies. They carry just about everything and are generally several dollars cheaper than Christianbookstore.com, the only exception I regularly find is that readers tend to be cheaper on Amazon. ;) #momeysavingmoms PS Happy Easter!
