  • In 2020 the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) headquarters was very proactive during the COVID restrictions and prepared a programme of activities under the title “Dance Scottish - A Summer Celebration” with music workshops and dance classes which were recorded so they can also be viewed online after the event. On behalf of the Hunter Valley Branch local teacher Ros McKie prepared one of these classes. It consists of 3 parts: a history of Australian Winter Schools, a musical presentation from the musicians' perspective featuring Chris Duncan and Catherine Strutt, and a new challenging dance suited to COVID times with no touching of hands "Let's Get This Sorted" composed by local dancer Julia Smith and taught by Ros McKie with the assistance of another local dancer, Angus McGregor.
In this fourth video Ros McKie continues teaching Julia Smith's new dance "Let's Get This Sorted". This video continues with bars 33-64 looking at the unusual starting point for the second time through with first couple repeating the same movements from second place but starting from their partner's place.
The music in the video is the strathspey "Dr Neil S MacLeod" played by Chris Duncan and Catherine Strutt. You can find this track on their album "Carriages at Midnight".
The RSCDS Hunter Valley Branch has now published "The Second Hunter Valley Book of Dances" (2024). Videos of the 13 dances in the book can also be seen on the RSCDS Hunter Valley Branch RUclips Channel [ / @rscdshuntervalleybran... ].
