Finally some video about drift alignment that is not 30 minut vlog cancer without any actual technical info. Thank you very much!
Thank you!
I second that notion! Very well put Mica
Couldn't agree more, finally!! :D
@@RatchetstrapMedia ok, but what about on a awd car, what kind of camber?
Idk. Drifting isn’t awd
Nothing better than an underrated video from an underrated channel that is super informative. You were able to compress like an hour and a half of informative content into 7 minutes. Thanks
Thank you very much!
I learned more in this last 7 minutesd that 2 years of drifting. Great video.
This vid has so much good informations about Drift Alignment settings. Every Drifters who are now studying for Alignment should see this. I'm doing Drift in South Korea, and you're video is so nice to see. Thank you.
Thanks for the kind words!
Just found this channel; amazing condensing of information. You know you have a good, informative video when it's the first google recommendation! Keep up the informative videos!
Thank you man, that means a lot!
After you watch this video, go watch chelsea denofa's 2 part drift setup videos and then FDF race shop alignment series
🤙
Appreciate u for making this video short and to the point and entertaining!
Good info. I work as a car geometry specialist. I'll be showing this to my apprentice. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Wish you still made these videos this shit is hard to find good videos that aren’t just advertisements for angle kits or other suspension shit
Been drifting my street car for years alignment still mint not touched for years
Damn bro, you are super under- rated man
Thank you!
This is super helpful!!! even for gamers or sim racers :D
Thanks for watching!
For all Miata na/nb cars on stock LCA most I've gotten is +4 caster. And 0 camber. I had to get extened lower knuckles for the front to get -3 camber and +4 caster.
Glad it worked for you
@@RatchetstrapMedia those numbers were on my 94. Which was bent up pretty good. Putting my Strait 96 together rn gonna get all new number probably.
Thanks for not making it a vlog like others do, Do you know how much horsepower is needed for drifting, it surely must be a factor of weight and road surface friction. i want to know exactly at what power level for a specific car rear wheels lose grip but front is still traction
Going to have my old guy try these numbers out and hope for the best
Good stuff
wish U talked a little about over center and steering wheel shake at full lock
Next time
nice tuned angle, i had use that tuned, only good for 4cylinder, Sr20det, Blacktop. when i used that tuned into my S15 2jzGtE , i need to widen the angle as the engine give much power for slide & clipping point
Cool!
Is this same tune method work for go kart?
thx i will try it on my turbo e30
Hey John, super informative video and well explained. I'm going to share this with the CarX Drift Racing community who's totally clueless about how cars are tuned IRL.
You should make a video explaining why grip is important for drifting, no matter the power :D and why Semi-Slicks are GOATED.
New sub earned, peace :)
Thank you very much! I will definitely do that!
yes. With the recent new update i figured to learn what akerman is lmao
Damn gd here ahaha
@@Rasm99 😄
@@gd_media im stuck on making my s14 transition faster, it understeers changing directions, like it seems it doesn't want to do it, so i came here to maybe learn 1 thing or 2 ahah still does the same
Ill try those setups next summer and give you feed back on them! Sounds good!
Thanks dude, hope it works out for you. Any questions, message John Ratchetstrap on Facebook!
@@RatchetstrapMedia i no more have facebook my account has been hacked .. im on insta
I am also. You can message me there.
nice video , i am from argentina and this helps me soo much ! thank you
Thanks for being here!
THANK YOU SO MUCH this is the video a have been shearching fo so long very informativr directly to the point with no bullshit
Thanks!
Thanks man. I’m hoping to get to evergreen this year.
🤙
Does this work on a rc drift car?
Thankyou for being straight forward
Thanks for watching!
A very clear explanation sir, big thanks. How about rear tire setup for drift? Only negative camber?
Thanks!
Really nice video
But why you don’t talk about rear alignement? i think a bit of positive camber is cool, like 0.3 but for toe in i don’t really know… I think 0.1 to 0.2?
A little positive camber and toe in makes it easier to drive.
Still so underrated
hell yea man love the vids! my first event is sunday swinging a sn95 331 stroker! cant wait
Thank you! That sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck!
So when you talk about toe out do you mean total toe? Or regular toe?
Total toe
What you described as "drift ackerman" is actually NO ackerman. It's just straight steering. You can go even further by doing anti-ackerman which may give even more control while sideways just because of how the tires will track and no longer try to drag the trailing front tire even less than straight steering does. If you look at formula 1 (and possibly other grip racing cars), they actually employ anti-ackerman so the car steers MORE.
This happens because the outside tire is receiving more load, it can experience a higher slip angle without actually losing grip, and therefore drive the car harder into a turn. With drift cars it's similar but the opposite. The trailing front tire has less load, and can't experience as much slip angle before losing grip (or just causing excess drag) so you would actually want it pointing "straighter" into the path of travel then even the leading front tire does.
IIRC either Engineering Explained or Driving 4 Answers has a video on anti-ackerman that explains the physics of it, so look into it if you're curious.
No Ackerman is drift Ackerman.
@@RatchetstrapMedia Well, give anti-ackerman a try and report back your findings.
Got it… now how do I apply this to my cutlass supreme?
With magic
Great quick break down!
I've never given the Ackerman much thought. But how you describe the feeling of normal driving a "drift ackerman" setup ie the tires skipping... yeah that's what a stock Volvo 240 feels like at or near full lock slowly turning hahaha.
It’s weird driving with that
Nice vid..ill share it to our rc drift page as its very helpful 👌
Thank you very much!
Awsome description!
Thank you!
this was amazing. im literally here just trying to setup for a sim lolol
A lot of people are using this video to do that
Great vid, amazing info
Thank you!
One thing i can't seem to find on the internet is actual wheel spacing apart (wide) on the front and how it effects drifting / steer. can anyone tell me what is the limit?
That’s not really a factor. People space their wheels normally so they can clear the control arm, and other suspension components while at full lock.
Can you do this but like in a street racing car
Uhh. I’m not actually sure what that means.
@@RatchetstrapMedia Can you put ackerman angle etc. on a car that is track focused?
If it’s just strictly a track car, I would run as close to zero Ackerman as possible.
I clicked on this thinking of RC drifting, this is so much better and I might still be able to use some of it, great video
I think the only real thing for RC drifting that’s different is the lack of caster, which is replaced by a Gyro
Don’t know if anyone cares, I was bored
Thanks!
good video
Thank you man
Thanks for watching!
awesome video
Thank you!
Rate this. Good info and you dont ramble on. Nice one bri
Thanks!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!!
