Hi guys! Have been away from the channel for a while, but now been at home for a week with coronavirus. It’s been a lifesaver to watch episodes 42-51, your excellent videos has helped me get through my convalescence. Now all good and looking forward to summer and sailing again - there is hope for sun and the sea! Thanks! 😊
Hi Chatrin, welcome back to the channel and thanks for watching. Sorry to hear that you got Coronavirus, we have the same thing now with someone in our household just tested positive. Wish you all the best with the summer coming up, we are looking forward to it too! Cheers, Chris
Hi guys. thank you for your videos so nice it allows me to wait - imagining sailing - the delivery of my future boat. I sailed in La Rochelle on a 418 15 days ago, with 27 knots of established wind, it was perfect with a reef in the mainsail and the jib a little furled, magnificent!!!!
Gotska Sandön is such a pearl in the Baltics! With the short glimpse of your anchor, I would guess it's the Rocna Vulcan. May I ask what size you have on the boat? Cheers, and thanks for yet another fantastic episode.
Hi, yup it's the Vulcan, I saw on the channel SV Panope recently it got some fantastic reviews. I haven't tested it in heavy winds yet but I think it will be great. It's the 20kg one, I wanted the 25 but the bow platform probably would need some work to fit it. Thanks for the comment, always nice to hear from you
Another good vid really enjoyed it. You refer to the code zero. We have a 458 and need to get a light wind sail and a trade wind sail. You obviously love the code zero ( which incidentally you should name Snow White 😉). Is it what Hanse refer to as a crossover sail? I assume it’s not a genaker with your ability to use on to a close reach?
Hi Phil, it's an awesome sail and great name suggestion! The crossover sail is slightly different and is more like a bigger jib. This cruising cable free Code 0 is bigger. Your right, with this sail you can go up to around 60 degrees aparent, so it can be used both down and upwind. It's a great addition to the Hanse. Feel free to email me if you have any additional questions etc. I hope this helped. Cheers, Chris
How close you can go with code 0 to the wind? Have you tried using it downwind as well nevertheless it’s a reaching sail? I’m contemplating on what would be the best gennaker or code 0. There are so many options for sails now that you can’t accommodate storage and wallet to have all of them thus always the hard choice.
Hi Andy, I think I put the instruments in the video at some point, that's as high as it will go, I think it was about 60 degreees apparent. Personally for the first sail I probably would go for the Code0 as it's more versatile and then the Gennaker later on. We are looking at a Gennaker to add as it will be good for light winds, especially flying it downwind in front of the main sail (as it's lighter). It's a hard choice I know, on the other hand if you have a big Genoa already, I might go for the Gennaker instead. I hope this helps, but feel free to email me if you need more details. Cheers
Hey guys! Thanks again for an excellent video. Keep them coming! Awesome to see the Code 0 performing so well
Hi Jussi, you are welcome, glad you enjoy the channel.
