    The single most amazing moment I ever heard in a live performance. Nine E flats in a row.

    Nobody will ever be able to emulate La Stupenda and this is typical of her agility, wonderful ability in the coloratura and ability to sing staccato in alt. And her trills! Bravo! There will never be another. A loss to the opera world and such a lovely person too - never boastful. Marie Miller

    Here she buries Callas, Sills, Caballé and Gencer. Her only rivals are Tetrazzini, dal Monte, Melba and Galli-Curci.

    • @magicmonkichi
      @magicmonkichi 4 года назад

      Agreed!...I know Sills sang some arias from this, did she ever do the ah non giunge?

    • @tiagodelode9368

      verdaderamente cómica la comparación. saquemos a Callas porque no reviste comparación con ninguna de las otras. los dioses no pueden ser compardos con los santos. del resto hay mejores cantantes de coloratura que sutherland pero si tomamos a Sills y Galli-curci no más, la dejan de a pie y sin posibilidades de que las alcance. a Melba la podemos comparar porque ambas fueron australianas.

      No Bruno, Dame Joan is , like Callas, sadly gone, but the Callas legend shines as brightly as ever, the most talked about the most remembered. Comparisons are odious, but I take my lead from you, Sutherland buried Callas, don’t make me laugh !

    She may be talented, but here she just 'shows off' and fails to understand Bellini. Hear Anna Moffo's studio recording of this symphonic polka for perfection..

    • @Eiswirth1
      @Eiswirth1 2 года назад

      The idea that Sutherland and Bonynge "failed to understand Bellini" is so ridiculous it's laughable.

    A mi me parece que la época del virtuosismo en la opera se habia muerto al aparecer Maria Callas. Joan la vuelve a revivir con interpretaciones virtuosas si, pero vacias de dramatismo. Para una cantante tan reconocida es un pecado.

    • @cadoh8143
      @cadoh8143 7 лет назад +4

      Me perdoe Caro Solon mas nesta ária só há alegria, nada dramático, e isto está perfeitamente expresso. Pesquise melhor a carreira da Sutherland e verás que ela era dramática quando convinha ao papel e ao momento. Ouça Maria Stuart ou Lucrezia Borgia. Abraços do Brasil

      no se puede comparar Callas con Sutherland, es como comparar el planeta Júpiter con Mercurio.

    Not her finest hour. Slightly too fast, questionable ornamentation of the repeat.
    Passage work and crucial expressive musical gestures rushed thru, when they need to be sculpted and shaped for optimum impact. Bellini for the Bourgeoisie.
