Ordinary Malaysians should be entitled to the same privilege. If they commit fraud or steal government then should be entitled to be forgiven just saying sorry to be fair to all.
There is nothing shocking about an apology as it is a way of saying sorry for an act that may have affected rational thinking, caused collateral damage or even peace of mind and happiness. In multi racial Malaysia , an apology could also be a cultural norm common to most people. For some it is also an act of religious teachings. An apology is healing to the soul. That is the realm of spiritual context that should not be associated to the political and economic nature of the case that has financial and social implications. To be fair to all, it is human to accept the apology, but that shall have no bearing on the act of misdoing as per the law which is intended to safeguard order and justice. For now, over analysing and over reaction will do no good. To be divided in opinion is not as bad as to cause a division between the judiciary, politics and people.
