  • This is a great way to change to 8 keys with one diminished 7 chord. It is called: the diminished portal chord. A dim7 chord is symmetrical which means that the tonale distance between all notes is the same.
All notes in a diminished chord can be the root of the chord, resulting in 4 diminished chords that resolve to the same 4 major and 4 minor keys.

You could spend an hour going through the info in this one minute clip, easily. And if you don't know this stuff, you should do just that.

Is there any difference between diminished and dominant chord

The function of the chord is more or less the same (lot of tension and wants to resolve), but the structure is very different. The Dom7 chord is major and has one tritone. The diminished chord is minor and has two tritones. Besides that all inversions of the diminished chord are diminished chords too. It is a symmetrical structure built from minor thirds.

It's symmetrical so by inverting it, each Dim7 chord has the same notes as 3 other Dim7 chords, which means you can resolve a DIm7 into 4 keys.
