Imagine what the anime would've been like, if Ash achieved his goal of becoming the very best, and we got a new protagonist for each new arc/season, like with Jojo's Bizarre Adventure...
I will forever be upset we never got Z. There's so much potential and so many unanswered questions XY had, but instead, it feels like they dropped it for SM to get that ready in time for the anniversary. It just feels like there was so much more they intended to do with it, and it's soooooo frustrating. I maintain that Kalos got cheated, since it seems like one of the less-popular titles.
As soon as the beta from gen 2 leaked, I kept thinking how different the game I played countless times could have been. Especially those cute bell cat pokemon

Yet they'd have to be more challenging to retrieve. The region I am working on has 'secondary starters' - elemental dragons with similar total stats. Being grass/dragon, fire/dragon and water/dragon. All are two stage evolutions instead of three
In all likeliness a bunch of Pokémon from Gen 5 could have been related to others, but somewhere in development they decided to go with "everything is brand new" now. Not only a lot of pokémon are parallel, they also seem complimentary or substitutes. Musharna to Drowzee, Zebstrika to Rapidash (wouldn't be surprised if it was an early concept for regional variant), Gigalith to Golem, Excadrill to Dugtrio, Conkeldurr to Machamp. I mean, I'm sure I don't need to list them all, but Unova really seems like it is Kanto beat for beat with some fixes. Not to mention how everyone and their mothers thought Alomomola would evolve from Luvdisc, Emolga would be related to Pachirisu in some capacity, etc.
Gen 7 kind of makes up for this with catching all of its individual cells throughout Alola. I imagine it would have gone a little something like that for Gen 6, especially since the anime was similar with the idea by one of the cells following ash and the gang.
While it has no point in the games, it does have lorewise. Xerneas either granted life and Yveltal granted death, but Zygard is more or less the embodiement of "circle of life" that new things are born from dead things, validating the other members of the trio.

Depends on where the next region will take place. So far we're missing Horse, Snake, Ox and Goat on the whole chinese zodiac thing. Greece is very likely to become a region sooner or later and a Minotaur is one iconic RPG trope that hasn't appeared in Pokémon yet surprisingly. I'm guessing a Snake for a more tropical region. Horse is hard one, I'd guess either an Italian or Indian region (we still don't have a Pegasus Pokémon yet either). Goat is equally hard to place, but it is a good animal for colder regions.
Hi, Hoops. Theory: I think the answers to all the mysterious things from Kalos sit in the none-Mega timeline. X and Y are obviously in the Mega timeline, but if we ever get a Kalos game in the none-Mega timeline that's where we'll find all the answers to our questions about the ghost girl, the train station, the power plant doors and all such things.
Zygarde would have worked very well with Reshiram and Zekrom since it represents balance. It probably would have gotten a more important place in these games than it does in X and Y.
How about this for a new mechanic? Say you use Incineroar and it uses Flare Blitz with streaks of black in the fire. What if dual type Pokémon could mix their respective typings into moves of different types? Like Dark Flare Blitz for Incineroar or Toxic Solar Beam for Venusaur?

@@antonioiniguez1615 missing a shit ton of pokemon? I was so excited to bring my gen 3 and onwards pokemom to the switch i could have forgive them for bad graphics or reused 3ds animations but now i really can't.
it's the second video I see you talking about the fighting-dark-psychic starters without mentioning that those were actually reused later on, as those are the secondary types of the Kalos starters in gen VI
Having one or two more Pokemon on my team, and one of two more move slots seems appealing, but it might get chaotic... In a way, I kinda like that we never got an answer for the ghost girl etc in X and Y, because it's cool to not have it all explained and leave some wonders in the games. It would be great if those things were looked more into when they make the X and Y remakes one day though.
Congrats on 100k and thanks for making videos. Even though I like your content, it seems like you ramble a lot in your intros and outros. You tend to repeat yourself multiple times, especially when laying out your thesis, and I think it might hook people more if you could streamline those parts of your videos. Keep up the good work.
While I think the whole following Pokémon scenario would be awesome, I also have to say I’m not sure how it would really work with the whole “Ride Pokémon” mechanic. Also, I do hope that eight or so years in the future when we could get X and Y remakes, that we as fans could get some closure on a few of the many mysteries that drive some of us (me included) crazy. Overall though, great video.
15:36 i personally never understood why follower pokemon was such a beloved feature in the game. Like it doesnt really change gameplay in any significant way its just cute/ridiculous. I think Pokemon Amie covered the whole bonding with pokemon thing way better than just a model following the player.
The gen five theory sounds interesting. Zygard as a trio master to Reshiram and Zekrom would be cool since his ground type would be surperior to their fire and electric types.
They were originally planning to possibly expand move slots as early as gen three? That's a real kick in the balls, because it's probably the biggest issue I have with the series. We're going into generation eight, and we're still restricted to four moves per pokemon, and six members per team, despite having several hundred to choose from of both.
Definitely the Zygarde one I would love to see the most. In the Pokemon Black and White movies, they had pitched this idea about a dragon force/energy that flowed through the land and helped support life and maintain order (guess who's a Dragon/Ground-type?). In the movie, Reshiram and Zekrom disrupted this force and caused a lot of chaos. It would have been so cool to see if they made that relation to Zygarde in the games or made Zygarde another opposite to the other two dragons: Truth, Ideals and Order. Sure, they made a literal Life Pokemon in Xerneas, but I always thought Zygarge had so much more to play which they never really showed at all. So...yeah.
i really wish they had made the starter trios different at times, but it would be hard to make a good type resistance circle past fire/grass/water and dark/psychic/fighting
I want to imagine in a different universe someone finds the old Pokémon games in a GameStop making it a popular game by recording it on RUclips being a site dominanted by vlogs
I would like to see the beta gold and silver was actually a thing and also the gen3 format about you can have 7 pokemon in your team and 5 moves in your pokemon
I actually like the map from the Gold/Silver beta. It would have been interesting if the final version of the games would have had a somewhat similar map.
I mean, we did get that trio of types later with the Gen 6 starters: Chesnaught is Fighting, Delphox is Psychic, and Greninja is Dark. Those just aren't their primary types.
I would love to have an 8-bit Poke'mon game that's a lot like crystal that has all 8 regions + all poke'mon. Really hoping that whenever Poke'mon reaches it's end (we get to know all regions and poke'mon), we get a game like that.
I would be most interested in a Pokemon Z that answered/expanded upon the unanswered plot points in X and Y. Or maybe a DLC or update for X and Y that did this as well. Also, it would be so cool if they could port Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to the Switch and add the partner feature with the extra horsepower. I know these are probably NEVER going to happen, but I can dream.
We did eventually get dark fighting and psychic as starters just not all in the same game and they weren't final evolutions in the Fennekin line the Froakie line and the Chimchar line
I think the changes in ruby and sapphire might have been more likely to be less pokemon on your team but each pokemon retaining more moves. The changes would have likely balanced each other out. And would have made players have to plan out their teams more. Plus, in the games opponents almost never had 6 pokemon so it would have been a way to make the games a bit more difficult if you had less pokemon too.
Wants to see a dark type, fighting type, psychic type for a starter. Blaziken, Infernape, Incineroar, Embroar, Delphox, Greninja, Chesnaught: what, are we a joke to you?
Kalos was a good game, but I could tell there was so much more that they could have done with it. Like Southern Kalos? Postgame? I really want to see Pokémon Z on the Switch. Kalos could be so expansive on the switch. It could be a sequel game to X and Y maybe, and we could also actually give Zygarde a role besides mini games and collecting Zygarde cores in Sun and Moon
Gen 6 gave us Fighting-Psychic-Dark technically. And Gen 4's starters' secondary typing also serve as a method to give all the starters a means to be effective against all the other starters.
The Gen 1 things you mentioned are things that are basically in Shin Megami Tensei. I wonder how much that series influenced Pokemon and if they decided to not use these elements to differentiate it from SMT.
In hindsight, given how Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee was regarded by the fanbase despite having the following Pokemon mechanic, I don't really think that the one singular feature being in Alola would have had nearly as much of an effect as you think. (Also, the SwSh DLC, although that doesn't count so much because the feature wasn't added to the main region even after the DLC happened.)
I also think that they took out walking Pokemon because they already knew that they were going to make Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Remember that they said that USUM was the maximum amount of power that the 3DS could take, so imagine having over 700 walking animations in the files along with the extra model on screen.... Probably would blow your 3DS up lol
In the game, walking and running animations already exist for all of the Pokémon! Tho the game chugs so much in battle I can see why they didn't do it. :(
i remember people speculating about them changing the starter types for gen ii back in the day, and i remember there being speculation itd involve psychic type, which is absurd in hindsight cus it was BROKEN in gen i lmao
Here's my personal list! Kanto: Every copy is personalised - It was planned that there would be 65 thousand copies of Gen 1, so every copy was personalised. It was cut due to Shigeru Miyamoto's recommendation. This would have changed/ruined the Pokémon-series, and is easily the biggest change in Pokémon history. Johto: Using the Spaceworld 1997 demo - Same as the video. Would have ended the entire Pokémon franchise if it happened. Hoenn: More/Less Pokémon in Party and more/less moves - Same as the video. Would have changed the competative scene forever. Sinnoh: Fighting/Dark/Phychic Starter Trio - Same as the video. Would have been a big shake-up for the series and give plenty of consequences for future games. Unova: More mature Pokémon titles - If the hate for the drastic chnages in Pokémon Black & White never happened, it would have caused future games to be more mature in story and tone, which I think is something many Pokémon fans regrets never happened to this day. Kalos: Pokémon XZ & YX / X2 & Y2 - It's have leaked that a third and fouth version of Pokémon X & Y was in development at one point and would have been released for Nintendo 3DS in 2015. It's speculated that the reason why it never happened was because of Game Freak prioritize Pokémon Sun & Moon for a Pokémon 20th anniversary release in 2016. A "Pokémon Z" would have fixed major issues and answered questions and myseries with X & Y, which would have made the games be on-par with previous generations in terms of quality. Alola: Pokémon Stars instead of Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - It's heavily rumored that Game Freak worked on a third version of Pokémon Sun & Moon for Nintendo Switch called "Pokémon Stars", which became Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. It apperently got cancelled for several different reasons, like because Nintendo didn't want a 3DS port Switch's first big holiday title (which could been seen as lazy nand concerning) and they wanted more games on Nintendo 3DS. This would have been the first Generation to have been split with two consoles (discounting Pokémon Let's Go: Pikachu & Eevee), which would have opened the door for more cross-gen generations. Galar: Not removing the National Dex - It has been leaked that the National Dex existed at the start of Pokémon Sword & Shield's developement, possibly as just a test. However, if the National Dex never was removed, Pokémon Sword & Shield would have gotten less hate and Pokémon franchise wouldn't have gone into dark and hateful era. Great video by the way. Would be nice to see a updated version of it with Gen 8 & 9 one day!
Interesting stuff for what was planned for Gen 1. Ironically, the whips might have made the games “darker”, but the charisma mechanic would’ve had the opposite effect. If Pokemon had kept the charisma stat, it would actually be pretty hard to argue that it promotes animal abuse when Pokémon are explicitly shown to willingly join your team of their own free will, even if they also kept the whips. And speaking of the whips, uh, why did it have to be whips?!? I mean, whips are pretty strongly tied to our thoughts of how animal abuse goes down, so yeah, it’d look pretty bad to specifically use whips. My question is: would whips have been the ONLY weapon the player can use or would it just be one of many options. Because it seems like this could be solved if they just replaced the whips with more “standard rpg weapons” like swords, hammers, or bows. I mean there’s tons of rpg games where the protagonist journeys out into the world and fights magical creatures along the way, hell, it’s basically the standard. So in that instance, if we replaced the whips with swords, nobody would’ve batted an eye at that; it would’ve been seen just like any other rpg game and accusations of promoting animal abuse would’ve been very unlikely.
We kind of did have a dark/fighting/psychic starter trio in Kalos.

it's the second video I see you talking about the fighting-dark-psychic starters without mentioning that those were actually reused later on, as those are the secondary types of the Kalos starters in gen VI
That background music is so catchy!
Congrats on 100k!
I would’ve loved to see following Pokémon in Sun, Moon, US and UM.
Also, had to say I love the remix background track of this video!
The gen five theory sounds interesting. Zygard as a trio master to Reshiram and Zekrom would be cool since his ground type would be surperior to their fire and electric types.
It's sad that "imagine if they finished kalos" and the increase of laziness in the pokemon franchise happened the same time
Love your videos man
0:05 *What if Everybody I'm Hoopsandhiphop!!!*
They were originally planning to possibly expand move slots as early as gen three? That's a real kick in the balls, because it's probably the biggest issue I have with the series. We're going into generation eight, and we're still restricted to four moves per pokemon, and six members per team, despite having several hundred to choose from of both.
Ok i know this was mostly for every reigon, not really every gen, hoop, you can just make a sequel to this vud talking about remakes
Take a shot every time Hoops says 'As well'.
I would have loved to learn more about the secrets of Kalos
I would love to have an 8-bit Poke'mon game that's a lot like crystal that has all 8 regions + all poke'mon. Really hoping that whenever Poke'mon reaches it's end (we get to know all regions and poke'mon), we get a game like that.
6:00 you said six instead of seven.
Great Video! Man I wouldn't mind a 7th pokemon to carry around.
In a different time line all of the things you listed actually happened
Gen 6 gave us Fighting-Psychic-Dark technically. And Gen 4's starters' secondary typing also serve as a method to give all the starters a means to be effective against all the other starters.
What if Ridley was an ultra beast
In Gen VI we got a fighting type, a psychic type and a dark type starter. Or have you forgotten Hoops?
They could still do the catching mechanic with the charisma mechanic, the higher the charisma the easier to catch a pokemon
Hmmm, big what ifs seems fun.
Charisma Stat nowadays as an instant master ball/luxury ball would be cool, actually!
The Gen 1 things you mentioned are things that are basically in Shin Megami Tensei. I wonder how much that series influenced Pokemon and if they decided to not use these elements to differentiate it from SMT.
I sometimes wonder if there's an alternate universe where all these what-ifs are actually true.
I remember the fact that some people were saying that Ultrabeasts should have been introduced in Generation 8
Taming monsters has never been new, Dragon quest/warrior did that first, I think. That trend has continued since.
Pokemon: Gotta Charisma em all? yeah not the same
In hindsight, given how Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee was regarded by the fanbase despite having the following Pokemon mechanic, I don't really think that the one singular feature being in Alola would have had nearly as much of an effect as you think. (Also, the SwSh DLC, although that doesn't count so much because the feature wasn't added to the main region even after the DLC happened.)
Now watch me whip, now watch me catch em, now watch me whip whip, now watch me catch em
I just hope we see some of those cut Pokemon designs come back some day.
I guess you could say it was exponentially a double edged sword
I also think that they took out walking Pokemon because they already knew that they were going to make Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Remember that they said that USUM was the maximum amount of power that the 3DS could take, so imagine having over 700 walking animations in the files along with the extra model on screen.... Probably would blow your 3DS up lol
In the game, walking and running animations already exist for all of the Pokémon! Tho the game chugs so much in battle I can see why they didn't do it. :(
Kanto: choosing pikachu over clefairy!!
i remember people speculating about them changing the starter types for gen ii back in the day, and i remember there being speculation itd involve psychic type, which is absurd in hindsight cus it was BROKEN in gen i lmao
Ooooh that’s were the furret meme came from!!!
Also what if the gen 4 events azure flute & capsule lock were put in
Here's my personal list!
Somebody should make a fan game with the ones for Gen 1 and Gen 4(though we did somewhat get that with Insurgence).
