- This is the most extreme baptism you’ll ever see. In Ethiopia, belief in a higher power leads villagers in the Tigray region to climb a huge, vertiginous mountainside to reach their church. They believe it's vital and beneficial for their children to be baptised here, despite the obvious dangers. Just 40 days after giving birth, Ngisti must climb 400 metres to have her new son Dawit baptised.

The alphabet looks similar because an Armenian monk got it from an Ethiopian while on pilgrimage in Jerusalem. The Armenian alphabet is identical as well. Amharic and Tigrinya come from the Ge’ez which comes from the Sabaen script.
Our Queen name was Saba and she wrote and spoke in Ge'ez. We had Queens and Kings prior to Queen Saba and even after. Why would we need to learn a language named after Queen Saba when we already had Ge'ez since D'mt kingdom (Next we were Agazean meaning Ge'ez people, then Axum, then Abyssinia to now where we are split into two separate countries Ethiopia/Eritrea) @@deesee3622
