  • Egypt is currently in the process of constructing a high-speed rail network that will eventually span 2,000 kilometers (1,200 mi). The first phase of the project, which is expected to be completed in 2027, will connect the cities of Ain Sokhna, El Alamein, Marsa Matrouh, and Fayoum. The trains on this line will be able to travel at speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour (155 mph).
