Quick and easy mandalorian girth belt/sash.

- I filmed most of the making of our sons girth belt for his mando kit. They are easy to make, and fairly inexpensive as well. This certainly isnt the only way to make one, but it is how we did ours for our MMCC approved kits.

Such a great tutorial, but I have questions. How wide did you make the girth belt, and how much is between the cord and the top/bottom of the belt? It appears it may be a half inch but I could be wrong.

Oh, wow! Sorry :( this comment got buried in my mailbox in the mad rush before/during and after DragonCon. My apologies it took me so long to respond.
This particular belt was 5.5 inches wide, there is in fact a half inch between the cords and the edge of the material. In the end, one of the reasons we (wife, myself, son) use this style is it is really easy to alter dimensions. My belt is actually more narrow, and my wifes even more so. We try to size them to fit the mando we are making them for. My wife is short, my son... not so much. He is tall and lanky, so we used a slightly wider belt to fill in the ab area, covers his cod piece and provide a nice color contrast for his gun leather (which again, is sort of sized to fit his taller frame.) My belt doesn't have as much ab area to cover, so it is more narrow! Very easy to configure based on sizes, what it does (or does not) need to cover, and even styles!

Thanks for this awesome tutorial!! Quick question.. Do the buckles need to be hidden by something?
Also, at what stage do you sew on the Velcro?
We don't have a very beefy sewing machine, is it difficult on the machine to sew through the cord?
We dont use the industrial machine on these, the lightweight normal machine we own does them pretty well, we just go slow.

This was helpful. What is “interfacing”?
It is a (usually white?) thicker material used to reinforce, thicken and stiffen sewing projects. Usually sold in the same area, it comes in different thickness and can be iron on (heat fuses it to the cloth-such as what we used here) or non fuseable (heat doesnt bond it to the cloth). We use it to stiffen the belt some, we just feel it makes it easier to put on and keep positioned. Thanks for watching!

@@scratchcrafterOur michaels doesnt have much in the way of sewing, but some might. We DO get ours at Hobby Lobby though. Wal Mart sewing dept usually has it as well.
