- Its been a long time coming, but we are finally undertaking a project with all these printers i`ve been collecting over the year. In this video I will be covering over the printed parts for the in progress heavy infantry mandalorian armor I am building, covering why I printed them in ABS/ASA along with my finishing process.

love the stone guard finish!
love this, the rock guard is an awesome tip for adding texture.
Before you even said machine shop I was thinking of that rough texture you see in cast industrial machinery when you showed off the shoulder pauldron,
Let's face it. Anyone who buys a 3D printer has an inevitable pull to consider a 'what if' around printed costumes. Not because we are necessarily interested in Comic Cons or such, but because we suddenly posses a tool to do so.
Tools are fun to use.
Also, because I'm running out of ideas for Halloween.
In regards to sizing. I saw a tip from Uncle Jessy where he took a part that needed to be fitted and then used PrusaSlicer to slice a small segment that would fit around his head and then printed it. It used a lot less filament while trying to get things right. I've used this as well and it works.
Ha, I got an Anycubic Mega X to make Mandalorian Armour, have printed a bunch of Heavy Infantry & Night Owl pieces from GA, printed a bunch of star wars blasters, and then got sidetracked, got in to raspberry pis, got a prusa Mini+, got in to klipper, built a voron 0.1, more pis, made a door camera for porch pirates...

For wood, dropping heavy chains on surfaces helps to add a vintage patina, not sure how well plastic would take that kind of treatment
Looks Great!. Great idea with the stone guard paint. Next time, please show the brand or give a link. Not all paint gives the same results. When dry brushing, I use a very stiff brush and wipe off almost all of the paint from the brush. There should be more paint on your paper towel. In my case, I use the back of my hand to wipe off excess paint. This ensures you do not put too much paint into more than one area and you can do more layering. I have also found that there are specialty paints for doing washes. They are not watered down but more of a paste that you can kind of paint on and rub on/off in certain areas. Using watered down paint is good, but sometimes it dries darker in some areas than others and it can be hard to control. I found that if you use watered down paint, do it in layers. Make sure your paint/wash does not have a lot of colour in it. Paint it on and wipe as necessary, then let it dry, assess and you can add more colour by layering. It is an extra step but you have control of the darkness of your colour wash.
Another trick for weathering use toothpaste. Just dab on areas you know you want the paint to look rubbed off or peeled. Then do your main color, let it dry and then wipe off toothpaste. That will add dimension to the weathering. Check out Smugglers Room and Punished Props. Learn a lot from them. Nice job.
Vasaline works, as well. Get some on a Q-tip and add just a bit. I did this on a Raspberry Pi case and it worked out AWESOME
Printed things are easy to scratch, I always add a couple passes of clear coat to improve longevity.
Oh man, I have a bunch of resources I use for cosplay. Armorsmith Designer can be helpful with scaling parts. You can set up your avatar to your measurements and then import the parts and scale them. SKS props has a bunch of videos on prop painting without an airbrush and Kamui cosplay has a ton of cheap ebooks on painting and other cosplay related topics. Bill and Britt Doran of Punished Props also have some fantastic videos of their prop builds.

Hey! Just recently stumbled on your channel while looking for the flsun v400 reviews! I'm planning on getting a new printer soon would you suggest the flsun v400? Mainly printing props and armor pieces for cosplays. And if so how did you go about enclosing yours? Thanks!
Have you considered vapor smoothing? If yes why didn't you use it?

we don't have bondo here, what kind of filler is that? there are basically 3 million kinds. some filled some not, some for specific materials, some not.
Any special category? Or do you use general fine plastic filler?
What layer height were the parts printed at?
Standard .4 nozzle and .2lh. used to the same settings to easily compare between machines

Did you print the gauntlets as one piece? So there's no hinge/two pieces?
correct one piece, the gloves are long sleev with some velcro on them, so the gauntlets just slip on and stay
