I see the look on L’z face whilst ya talking bout the history. It’s like he’s reminiscing, & I feel him because as soon as ya brought up haze I immediately went back in time. He’s definitely right about it being like crack. Washington Heightz had it on smash with that haze. I grew up in the heart of it, 176st & Audubon Ave, & if you smoke in NY, specially back in the early 2000’s, you know what’s up with Audubon. 174th had that PIFF! Dimes, dubs, & 40’s. & those 40’s was a different type of haze man. My sons on the 4th had that shit on SMASH!! & it was 24/7 - 365. Literally every day someone was out there pitching at any given time. I seen everyone from Jadakiss to DMX to Prodigy on those blocks. But my hometown heroes were Dipset.
I remember being like 13, & seeing L’z in his white Denali truck on Audubon. Then seeing him a couple years later on Broadway in that white Flying Spur. I’ve seen Killa on St. Nick in that Pepsi Blue Lambo, seen Shiest & Un Kasa for a video A-Mafia shot by the park down on 151st. Jim coming through 174th. These niggaz were the shit to me for the simple fact that they were just like me. Yea they were rappers, had money & what not, but they were always at arms reach in the hood, & that motivated niggaz like me.
