Folks, I am from Minneapolis Minnesota and I had an American Water Spaniel. Boy, they are hard to come across and the waiting list is lengthy, but well worth it.

My yellow lab sticks out like a high vis jacket on the salt marsh. He has to wear a camo jacket otherwise the pinks spot him miles off. My next lab will be black or fox red. Curious to see if it makes a difference

I have a chocolate lab he retrieves great and loves to fetch I have a hard time getting him to listen he’s a little stubborn I think with the right training he would be a great dog this year will be the first year he will hunt consistently last year I personally didn’t think he was ready to hunt out in public, didn’t want to be that guy screaming at his dog all the time while other people around me are trying to hunt

Get yourself a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Be prepared to throw down some doh though. Even in Nova Scotia they are 1500-2000CAD. But you wont find any better.

I enjoyed your video, yes a chocolate lab can be trained to sniff bombs an do everything a black can do, i have yet to see a chessie out work some of the labs ive hunted with, an a springer will out work both with the right training but it is so much work i am to old for it now. I ran springer's my entire life and will be getting a lab when my oldest passes, the labs have that thicker coat which is needed hunting in my region in the U.S.

I had a chocolate lab that was so well and trained at fetching ducks I had friends offer me money to take her hunting on weekends I was working 😂. The key is just training and trust. If they don’t trust you the training is pointless

This is my first black lab since I`ve always had Chessies and Flatcoats. At the risk of starting an argument, for me, the Flatcoat is an excellent water dog and has the best nose of all the retriever breeds. The Chessie is the biggest and strongest and never gives up. They are also great judges of character. If any of my Chessies, and I`ve had them for 40 years, did`nt like some one, that person was probably not worth knowing. The labrador is so bidable that they`re a pleasure to work with - although you could be forgiven for thinking that mine was completely untrained. He just stuck two fingers up at me when the camera started rolling.
