The only dog that needs to be band from anywhere in the world, isn't the dog itself, but the owner. No dogs will cause you harm if they have a good owner. I've had 3 out of the dogs you mentioned and all 3 were friendly giants. Now I have 2 wolves and they are so friendly and well tamed.

No doubt you are a good dog-owner.... but it's tempting to point a finger at the owners and blame them for all aggrression in dogs.
The fact is that certain breeds dogs are NOT stuffed animals, they are NOT robots that you control.... they are UNPREDICTABLE animals with a mind of their own. They are mostly gentle and docile, they can defend you from aggressors..... but they can also attack you for no reason you can think of. (The same can also be said of humans who suddenly turn rampant and stab or gun down other humans)
If these dogs are banned in so many countries, it's for a good reason.
A good friend of mine was badly bitten in the cheek by a "friendly, docile" poodle - a fluffly little POODLE !!! - even though my friend was a dog-lover and knew how to approach dogs.
Unfortunately for her, the poodle just wasn't in the mood for petting and friendliness: she bit my friend so viciously that she had to go to hospital and have surgery.
So the myth about "no dogs will cause you harm if they have a good owner" just isn't true... there have been too many deaths round the world due to the unpredictable nature of dogs.
Reminds of certains kids who misbehave terribly at school but are apparently "angels" at home.

@@1sola1verita I am sorry to hear about your friend, but if the dog owner is not around you should be extra careful when approaching a dog( My guess she got deceived by it's cuteness and most people would)........a dog attacking its owner is like saying a kid hit his parents makes you wonder if that kid was even raised in first place. And just for your info Dogs have 1000 times more tolerance than humans.

I've had 3 German Shepards and two boerboels ( a pair of each at the same time, purebred ), both breeds were awesome guard dogs and sociable with people and children that were visiting over a few days in our company, never encountered any negative behavior from either breed. They are extremely protective and loyal to their owners (but that's my personal opinion from my experience ).

I grew up with one and we never had any issue. In serbia we have our own breed called Sarplaninac - it's a HUGE dog, (im around 170cm and they have that height when they stand on their back legs) but even they are kind natured.
German Shepherds have been voted as the number one dog for kiddies and semi active families for yrs & now it's "banned" ? i'll disagree.

I own an American Staffordshire Terrier. He’s the sweetest most gentle dog I’ve ever had. He loves children and people. He’s also saved my life twice. Staffordshire Terriers are not aggressive, in responsible owners that abuse their dogs make them that way.
My Staffie is 11 yrs old. Yes, all dogs should be properly trained and socialized as well.
Remember that inbreeding can also cause problematic dogs.
There are also many other factors involved as to why some breeds are more aggressive than others.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion depending on their own personal experience.

Most of these dogs were shown being trained for aggression. I’ve worked as a veterinary assistant for decades and have handled many of these breeds. Most of them can be good pets if socialized early and trained well. I’ve also owned several dogs of various breeds. I loved them all & never had any issues. I currently have a Dobie as my service dog, since I’m now elderly and handicapped. She was a rescue and was trained by a retired seeing eye dog trainer. She is wonderful ❣️

Being a True Wolfdog he was the most friendly, sweetest, Wolfdog you'd ever want to meet. I had him Embark. Yes he was a true Wolfdog. He also had Czekaslavakian Vicak in him. Ancient DNA and mixed with a few more such as Black German Shepherd Dog. Never ever had he become vicious. We brought another rescue in that was a Full blooded German Shepherd Dog. They got along perfectly. Neither one ever became aggressive ,ever. Sadly I lost my Wolfdog at 9 years old June 17,2023. He had just turned 9 on May 17,2023. We shared the same birthdays. His name was Max. I'm in tears just talking about him. He is missed by everyone who was blessed to have met him. His sister Shiloh hasn't been the same since. She sticks to me like glue. I guess that's that was the wolf pack mentality showing. When I was a kid I attended a new years eve party with my mother in this big house where there were lots of people and a wolf dog running around. A friend near my age and I were play wrestling in the evening and that dog was nearby. My friend had wrestled me to the ground and when the wolf dog saw that he started acting aggressively towards me as if he wanted to "join in the hunt" or something. Thankfully the owner was around and calmed the situation down and nothing happened, but it's kind of a weird memory.

Any dog can be aggressive if provoked and as someone who has had dogs in the family and seen many dogs of many breeds up close and personal I would have to say that the breed of the dog simply does not matter a damn, it is how you raise and train a dog that matters. Honestly I have seen far more overt aggression from many of the smaller breeds than the larger ones. Chihuahua's for example IMO tend to be extremely hostile and aggressive towards basically anything and everything that isn't their owner or close family member.

What do you want? - any dog from an illegal or banned breed to be individually tested and then also allowed for first time dog owners to get? For what reason and why should the banned breeds be allowed, with the risk it brings? To prove what? Of course training and socialization means a lot but if a dog genetically have high levels off aggression, I understand the ban.

Unfortunately, here where I live, a pit bull (and similar dogs) is seen as a prestigious acquisition. Some young men (mostly) see it as a status symbol. Our law enforcement and animal welfare have a constant struggle trying to close down dog fighting rings and back yard breeding. These dogs have all been specifically bred for a certain look or temperament. The violent methods used on some of these dogs are appalling. The vicious side to them is inculcated at a very young age so they become aggressive through fear. Fear is passed down to the next generation. I can see why some are banned in certain countries. I wish for peace and a loving home for all animals.

My father worked with the animals and socialized them. I now live on a property with 2 Rottweilers and the are both beautiful and powerful. I was introduced to them by their owners and within a couple of days the obeyed my commands. I have many experiences with dogs and can honestly say the only time I had a problem with onecit was related to the owner.

In public when I'd be around people I would still put a wire basket muzzle on her so people couldn't claim she bit/attacked them and I'd lose her. For most dog breeds, it comes down to how you raise the puppy as to how it will behave as a grown dog. I'm sure there's a Vet book on breeds with dangerous psychological genetic traits that just couldn't be bred out. That's why it's better to know the breeder and history of a dog's genetic line if your target for a pet is specific. Otherwise, a Heinz 57 dog or junkyard dog make for wonderful all around pets.

He has been around adults, teens, kids, and many other animals and feels his main duty is to make sure everyone is safe, okay, and where they’re supposed to be. He is more curious than anything and studies small animals instead of trying to kill them.

❤ large dogs! I had 2 German shepherds. One was said to be mixed with a wolf. First one was docile and the other one very protective of me, especially with unknown guys. He slept with me and put his head on my shoulder and licked my tears. He was my best friend. I got married and my husband was very afraid. That was in 1969 and I still cry and miss him. Not sure if I made the right choice.. my loving dog or my husband! Should have chose the dog. I was moving to Michigan after getting married and couldn't take him. My daughter had an American bulldog and she was loving too. My brother had dobies that never bit. Yes you have to train them but they weren't aggressive. It's the small breeds that bit me because they have a Napoleonic complex. Love and miss them all. Now I am going to 😭

I own a wolf mixed with husky. Incredibly intelligent, dominant, energetic and expressive. We absolute love her character - she responds to my husband and I equally and to our amazement. We were told by many that she will choose one owner. We also have two young boys who she tolerates but plays very well with. She looks to me every time they over hug her and she holds her patience. She's not cuddly and I like that, I hate clingy animals..

I actually had to hide him a couple of times from animal care and control .Many times that dog was on the Lamb from authorities 🤯.

It's completly wrong in case of Poland. Every second household in the country side owns German Shepherd or dog alike. There are absolutly no restrictions whatsoever. Additionally there is no breed that is banned to own. In case of 11 breeds that are considered as agressive you have to obtain a permit to own such dog but it's just a formality and basically everyone gets one. It's only for the authorities to know that in certain area there is such dog.

I laughed, because she would be the WORST guard dog! She might lick an intruder to death, but that's about it.
Our other dog is pure American pit bull. The most dangerous thing about her is her tail. She is always happy and her wiggle butt has knocked mugs off our coffee table! Here tail is dangerously whippy!
Also, both dogs have deadly farts.

German Shepard’s dogs are gorgeous I have owned 2 and both been adorable. I’ll tell you a story about German shepherd dogs which should prove they are adorable. When I was 3 in 1951 I kept asking my mum for strawberry jam sandwiches cut in half. Well I still don’t like bread and my mum wandered what I was going with these sandwiches so she followed me round the Corner clonking away in her high healed shoes and to her astonishment there were 2 great big long heard German shepherd dogs and my mum went to take my hand and the dogs growled at her so the lady who owned them said my mum had to make friends with them , which she did . But I don’t know what happened to them but they are all aggressive nasty dogs. Our Max the gs had to me put to sleep at just under 5 years due to too much inter breading and he suffered from epilepsy . My other 1 lived until she was 13 and a gorgeous soft gs. Like all dog breads are NOT dangerous breads it’s usually bad owners. I have a chow chow now and she is adorable.

Seriously? The German Shepherd? We have one. She’s a year old. Smart as a whip. She’s a total softie. She’s scared to go upstairs by herself in the dark. I stay up later than daddy so I literally have to walk her all the way up and she kisses me goodnight.
She loves having her toes rubbed and snuggling with her stuffed animals when she takes a snooze. I work from home and she’s a total Velcro dog. Has to be in the same room with me constantly.
She makes friends with the neighborhood dogs easily. She doesn’t bite. I’ve heard her growl exactly one time and that was when our cat was getting too nosey about her dinner. Even as young as she is, we can take her out to eat with us (outside) and her behavior is perfect. She gets a bowl of water and snacks and she just lays by our feet.
They are NOT all nasty aggressive dogs!
The ones you should watch yourself around are police dogs ATF, military, guard dogs because they have been trained to be that way. If they attack you it’s because you are most likely doing something you shouldn’t be doing.

Many of these dogs are not dangerous unless they are trained to be so. Having owned several of these dogs, none were aggressive unless they felt we were in danger. Our German Shepherd was very protective of our children from birth on...... but NEVER was a threat to them. But God help anyone that she felt was a threat to any of us. She never bit anyone, but was quick to let people know that she was protective of us. The low growl, from deep down in her chest, was enough to

make anyone back off. One of my granddaughters had a Pit Bull as a certified service dog. He was absolutely awesome. My Akita is one of the calmest dogs I have ever seen. Again, excellent with children, of all ages.
I realize that not all DOGS are awesome. But I DO believe that how an animal is treated has a huge influence on the way their personality develops. Some dogs ARE aggressive, as are some people. But the race or color of humans does not determine their personalities or demeanor, and the same goes for animals!
