Yeah I sized them right about how I size the regular Solutions, they fit pretty much the same, the Comps have a slightly softer feel and a redesigned heel
Hey Kellen - you're doing a great job with these. Any thoughts on how the Katana Women's compares to the Comp? These seem pretty similar with a similar width in the toe box.
What I will say right off the bat is that they fit completely different than the comps, for reference my Katana Women's is sized at a 41.5 and my comps are sized at a 42 and I would say that at a 42 the comps cram my toes way more than the katanas. So the toe box is pretty different. In terms of performance the comps have a more aggressive toe and downturn than the katanas and that's what makes the comps better for overhanging or super technical terrain. The Katana Women's does offer some slight advantages though, it's more comfortable and is more customizable but overall the katana is more of an allrounder in terms of performance whereas the comps are definitely more specialized when it comes to their performance.
@@TheBelaytionship That's very helpful thanks! The Katana is probably going to be the better value for me then. Any thoughts on how much you downsized from street on that one? I've heard both 1.5 and 2 full sizes on the new Katana models. And IIRC, I went 1.5 sizes down in the previous.
@@thesii213 So I downsized quite a bit with my Katanas. My street shoe size is 44 and I went down to a 41.5 in the Katanas. I definitely went for a more performance fit but I will say that a 41 is probably my limit for downsizing
Well kinda, the Solutions use a 3D Heel Cup and the 3D Heel Cup was the predecessor to the S Heel. So the two are pretty similar. Overall the Solution Comps don't stretch a lot, the only thing that happens is they tend to get more supple in the forefoot over time.
That’s a great question! To answer it I’d say that it slightly loosens up over time. La Sportiva’s P3 technology (which keeps the downturn of the shoe) is based on a slingshot rand, part of the rand is what you feel on your Achilles. Once your shoes are broken in the tension in the rand will slightly loosen up, and because of that you wouldn’t feel as much pressure on your Achilles. I remember when I got my pair they were cutting into my Achilles the first couple of sessions, but after a month of use they became fairly comfortable.
Well I've had them for two years and I haven't had the straps problem, I also thought that sportiva addressed this and made the straps a little thicker on the comp model compared to the regular solutions straps
@@TheBelaytionship Absolutely not they are the same size strap. I love this shoe,so don’t get me wrong..but the strap gave way after 4 months of use. The regular solution lasted a year…So I’d say that the comps are worse as far as wear and tear! idk if it has something to do with the softness of this shoe or what..Still a great shoe.
@@brettwhite7223 Sportiva does use a different type of webbing for the strap on the Solution Comps than the regular Solutions, it's just ever so slightly wider (like just a mm or two) And sometimes to have that slight change is enough for a company to say that they "addressed" the problem. It sucks that your pair gave out at around four months, but there's always a bunch of different factors that can lead to premature wear of the shoe. Overall you're right though, due to the nature of it being a softer shoe it will show wear faster if it's being used a lot. The other tricky thing about this shoe is due to the nature of it being a more advanced style of shoe, if you aren't using it correctly signs of wear can definitely show up faster.
how much did you downsize on them??
Nice review. Do you size them the same as the OG Solutions?
Yeah I sized them right about how I size the regular Solutions, they fit pretty much the same, the Comps have a slightly softer feel and a redesigned heel

Two things. The Normal solution as far as im aware doesnt use the s heel. Also how much do the sloution comps stretch?

Hey, wanted to ask about the Achilles hold of the shoe. Will it loosen up over time? When I tried them, my Achilles heel was squished way too much

How do you fix the velcro straps problem and how long have you been using them?
Well I've had them for two years and I haven't had the straps problem, I also thought that sportiva addressed this and made the straps a little thicker on the comp model compared to the regular solutions straps
