Who is your favorite Death Eater?!
Robert Pattinson
Bellatrix Lestrange.
Antonin Dolohov.
Why?
Because I like his name.
Bellatrix lestrange
Severus Snape (Bellatrix after him)
I think in the books the reason the location where Tom Riddle's diary is from is mentioned is because Harry does recognize it as a "muggle" neighborhood or something like that and it adds to the mystery of who tom riddle was. harry wonders if he must have been muggle-born or something i believe
Yes, exactly, which, in turn serves to trusting the diary, since Riddle is just like them and couldn't possibly be the Heir of Slytherin; little did they know that Voldemort was nuts from early on. Fun fact: tere's no Vauxhall Road in London, just a bridge.
Yes it is mentioned
@@specialbudgies4217 so if there's no Vauxhall Road, why did the diary say that? Could it have existed during Riddle's time? Or did he make a fake name? Which doesn't make sense, he would've wanted a magical place i think
@@adeeasrauf1710 i don't think every place in a fictional universe has to be real
Waiiiit, Suitor of Helena Ravenclaw should technically be correct as well because he kills himself after killing her.
Jen Parry ikr
mmm. I'd wouldn't really consider him one, as he was rejected by her. Doesn't one cease to become a viable option for her, the second she decides he isn't for her? I guess what I'm saying is that by the time he killed her, he was no longer a suiter, but a dangerous fanatic?
@@coolguyhino92 ehhhh I have heard both versions of suitor in other stories so the confusion is understandable (I also don’t know which is correct). One version of suitor is someone trying to woo a person regardless of rejection.
@@coolguyhino92 A suitor is just a man pursues a relationship with a woman. The fact that she wasn't interested has absolutely no bearing on the fact that he was a suitor.
@@thegreatfusili4673 Read the previous comments. There is more than one direct definition of a suitor.
17:03 Chamber of Secrets, chapter 13, page 231 for me:
“Harry turned to the back cover of the book and saw the printed name of a variety store on Vauxhall Road, London.”
“‘He must’ve been Muggle-born,’ said Harry thoughtfully. ‘To have bought a diary from Vauxhall Road...’”
How long did this take you to find this???
@@danhalen3775 not long a quick google search will find it
I always thought that Tom Riddle's diary was a normal, muggle diary. You know, until he made it EVIL.
almond potato and that ‘s exactly what it is:) it was a simple diary he bought in London that he made into a Horcrux. It was his first and kind of a “test Horcrux”, and the next one are precious items
@@noemicavada6795 Yes. So, because it is a normal diary turned EVIL, there probably is some sort of identification of where it was made. Also, where did Tom get that diary? I mean, whenever I try to find a good one they are always pink and sparkly.
almond potato try Vauxhall Road😂
Noemi Cavada It wasn't a test.
Ben Tarr I wrote *kinda of a “test horcrux”* and I put the word test on quite because with that I meant that being his first horcrux he didn’t have the idea of putting it his soul into precious objects
So, who else would totally listen to the Harry Potter series narrated by DK with J and Ben doing the character voices?.... This needs to happen.
Danae McCune omg even if it was like a livestream or something that would be SO COOL
yeah cause it's such a great idea for these Americans to mispronounce the British names.
Dan 97 yea! Glad you agree it would be awesome
Nah, the Jim Dale versions already exist and are perfect. Plus, SCB couldn't make any money from such a series.
Oh I want this so much
Technically the Bloody Baron was a suitor of the Grey Lady and he killed himself. So Ben is right.
tcshack701 what does suitor mean
@@RedEveTillDawn A suitor means someone who wishes to marry a particular person. In this case the bloody baron wished to marry the grey lady.
But he also kills Helena Ravenclaw
@@ElurosAthena So both of them are right.

On the question about Peter’s missing finger: it is indeed specified in prisoner of Azkaban just after Remus and Sirius turn him back into a human. Peter was accusing Sirius of something and pointed at him, but it says specifically he was pointing with his middle finger because of his missing index finger.

I like how they only just realised that Riddles Diary was a muggle book.
Especially as it is discussed pretty .edu as soon as Harry finds it in the book!
*discussed as soon as it is found
so he put a spell on it after getting in Hogwarts ?
Lauriti well it’s not that he puts a spell on it; he turns it into a Horcrux, so all the communication and possession is coming from the piece of his soul inside.
@@natashabaer2533 oooh I thought that BEFORE making it a horcrux he would have put a spell on it so he could write and nobody but him could read it. And after it becomes a horcrux, you could "comunicate" with that piece of him.
Quite an odd horcrux .... right? a muggle diary that served him no purpose or meant nothing to him?
Technically the suitor of the grey lady is the bloody baron and he killed himself so...
ninjagirl226 That was my thought also. He actually killed himself in addition to the Grey Lady. That should have been a “check all that apply” question.
Steve Primmer killing himself instantly after killing her because of the guilt. I love this little few lines in deathly hallows book, can really imagine the scene haha.
DRACO!!!!!! I LOVE DRACO !!!!
PS. Draco was actually the second best in their year. Hermoine always beat him. As an adult he would study alchemy for fun.

The fact that Dark Marks are red is mentioned in Goblet of Fire. I re read it last week so I remeber. Normally I wouldn't know. As for Pettigrews finger it says "he was pointing with his middle because his index was missing" in Prisoner of Azkaban.
Yup 👍🏼
ok it's embarrassing how excited I get when I know an answer they don't lol
I got the Vauxhall Road question right lol but I saw all the options and for some reason it looked really familiar
Same! It seems dumb but I’m always like yaaaaaaaayyyyyy
Storribook same but I got it right without the options
Same, but I feel bad as I just finished a read through and I know some of those answers were a quick one line. Pettigrew's finger? It's a single line that says he pointed with the middle finger next to a missing index. Vauxhall road? It's just Harry commenting to himself that it's a muggle shop. Red Dark Mark? I believe Snape says it grew darker red all year before burning black that night. This really was an indepth quiz after Q9
Yep. They couldn’t hear Cole!
Ooft that simultaneous 'this is Pottermore' at 25:10 was filled with so much dispair
On Harry Potter Wiki...
‘ An inactive Dark Mark appears as a faint mark on the inner part of the left forearm, similar to that of "a vivid red tattoo"; an active one is jet black. ‘
Could not find any reference to it on Pottermore
It's in GOF when Voldemort calls the Death Eaters
Pretty sure this is always mentioned in the books. How the mark is pretty much just a faint scar on luscious and others until voldemort regains his power and the it starts to itch and turn black
In goblet, karkarof goes into a potions lesson and Harry sees that karkarof shows snape something red on his forearm. So it mentions it
In Goblet of Fire, on page 645, Harry sees Wormtail’s mark and describes it as “a vivid red tattoo”, then Voldemort touches it and Harry sees that “it had turned jet black”.
28/30
Your result:worrying
Oh dear... you know a lot about the dark arts don’t you? Me we advise staying away from dark arts textbooks and invest in a basket of puppies instead?
Lol ok pottermore
27/30 (me)
I got 28/30 too😅
0/30 My memory is just the worst.
I just misread the title as “dank arts”, am I watching too many memes?
Quite possibly. But there's no such thing as watching too many memes.
Definately need more memes in your life: it is the only cure.
You can never go wrong with memes comrade
Memes are art so I understand the mistake
Ah yes, that was my favorite class. Defense against the *Dank* Arts.
I always assumed that Dark Marks were gray when they were inactive and darkened to black as Voldemort came closer to regaining a body. It makes more sense to go from gray to black as it darkens than it does to go from red to black, unless it's just a red outline when it's inactive.
Chris Concannon I always assumed it was red kinda like irritated or scared skin
@@morgynkivimaa8179 That makes sense to me.
It talks about this in Goblet of Fire when Voldemort uses Wormtail’s to summon everyone.
I was with Ben on this one, since they are similar to human tattoos which, when they are faded, have ablue-ish colour.
I always thought they weren't visible when not activated, because you would think that SOMEONE would've noticed that all captured death eaters had the same tattoo on their forearm
If it walks like a horse, if it talks like a horse...it probably summons.
🤣🤣🤣
27:56 DK’s laugh is priceless

I knew the Vauxhall Rd answer as I was listening to Chamber of Secrets today! It’s important because Harry realises Riddle was raised by muggles and therefore feels more sympathetic towards him not wanting Hogwarts to close as he too feels like Hogwarts is more of a home to him than the Dursleys

Also FINALLY A TIMER
I need to reread the books again, it’s been a fat minute since I have.
I got Vauxhall Road correct, but I had the benefit of the multiple choice.
The first question was actually who never taught HARRY D.A.D.A ? Then whichever Carrow was on the list was a good answer since harry wasn't around when the Carrows were in Hogwarts
Also when returning to Hogwarts weren't we told that the Carrows were straight up teaching "Dark Arts" classes (and using it as an excuse to torture the students or possibly get them to cast curses and the like on each-other? might be misremembering that last bit), rather than DADA? So even if Harry had been at the school at that point, it still would've been a valid answer.
tpbloomfield no because they never taught him
I like how they tried to trick us by putting Moody in the list.
@@justgiz I know. It almost got me.

So, both Jay got the answer to the last question is wrong. The quiz had the right answer but only because it omitted James. This is actually an error that the J K Rowling made in Goblet that has bugged me for years. The correct answer is actually "Cedric, Frank, Bertha, James, Lily", which is NOT the order that Harry's parents died in.
I quote "And now another head was emerging from the tip of Voldemort's wand... and Harry knew when he saw it who it would be... he knew as though he had expected it from the moment when Cedric had appeared from the wand... knew because the man appearing was the one he'd thought of more than any other tonight." And then, a paragraph later, "'You're mother's coming...' he said quietly. 'She wants to see you... It will be all right... hold on...'"
Although, it's possible that J K Rowling fixed this in later prints of the book. Anyhow, just a fun fact. Jay wins either way. (Sorry Ben!)
It was fixed in later versions because of fans pointing it out to jk Rowling on how she explains the thing and it reversing in order of last spells cast and since Lily was killed after James she should have come out before him
Yup, you're right. I didn't realize that this was fixed in reprints. I've always read and listened to the original versions, so I had no idea. I wonder if anything else has been changed since...
@@loopkill there were quite a few things fixed that I can't name off the top of my head. You can look them up though ^^

9:52 I'm currently listening to Goblet of Fire and after Voldemort comes back, he uses Wormtail's dark mark to summon everyone and before he does that, it's described as a vivid red tattoo.
I just checked in "Prisoner of Azkaban" Peter Pettigrew has a missing ringfinger (left hand) not a missing
index finger. So you again got confused by the movies. :)
Edit: To be clear: I meant his ringfinger is missing if you look at his hand. (sorry for bad grammar I'm german)
the movie confused me there too
But Ben wrote Ringfinger... Or do you mean in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie they changed it?
I remember distinctly that Harry describes Pettigrew pointing with his middle finger because he's missing his index. Maybe that's in a later book though, so JKR got confused herself.
@@masha7377 Yes he points with his middle finger at Sirius in the Shrieking Shack as he has no index!
In the movie version in spanish is the pinky. I don’t get why so many finger changes are necessary xD
The final question is kind of a trick question because in the first edition of Goblet James comes out of the wand before Lily and they changed it in later editions.

The "Ender" series with the original 4 book and with the "Shadow" series is my favorite sci-fi universe.
"I think it is impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves."
Speaker for the Dead
Orson Scott Card is a genius. His imagination give him realisation about fundamental things. He was right about the direction computers evolved. I believe he is right about almost everything he wrote. He gave me insights into human nature 3 decades ago, and so far they all turned out to be correct. Also, I am an astrophysicist. His sci-fi is truely scientific. His idea about the Parck shift is genius. His ansible theory is possible. His phylosophy about the nature of "the universe, life and everything" is the perfect fusion of science and religion. The idea for FTL is mindboggling.
I think the Ender series are a "must read" for everybody who loves sci-fi.
It is a hard read. Those who just want action, but dont care about backstoryes, consystency, immersion and scientific imagination, those usually find them boring.
To me these books are among the very best.
Did you know there is a movie of it?
I am going back and rewatching these J vs. Ben videos because I love them but I wonder how long it actually takes them to film

I know this is an older video but you guys really help me get through tough times
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew it was Morsmorde. Not sure how I knew that from memory but I’m happy I did :)
20:00 LUPIN SAYS VOLDEMORT NOT HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED
But Karkaroff shouldn't have said "Dark Lord"?
@@Salvation393 Yeah that's why I presumed it wasn't Karkaroff!
@@Salvation393 hmm that's true
That was how I determined it wasn't Dumbledore or Barty Crouch Jr.
@@kateworkman921 But didn't Barty Crouch Jr say the Dark Lord too!?
18:41 when Americans try to pronounce Tottenham Court Road always makes me laugh. (Tottnum court road)
Can we appreciate Derek's laugh around the 27/28 minute mark xD such a contagious laugh!
When Harry first finds Tom Riddle's diary he figures he must have been muggle born because the diary was from Vauxhall Road.
So I think that was an early indicator of Riddle's past, before GoF...
Dark Arts
Don't become a Death Eater
Spaghetti Batman hey I haven’t saw u in a while! Now I remember!
I’ve heard Draco was top of the class after Hermione but I don’t know if it’s true
Originals by The Mario's in chamber Malfoy is getting roasted by his dad about doing badly in his 1st year exams, so he definitely wasn’t then, but I guess he could of improved.
The Mario's is your channel photo you guys and Shane
@@afrokid3890 I thought his dad was roasting him for not scoring as high as a muggle born I:E Hermione? Which would put him second in the class
Forest Grump Yeah that’s how I remember it
When Draco is asking about he Hand of Glory, he is told it is the best friend of thieves and plunderers. His dad gripes that he hopes his son would amount to more than a thief or plunderer, but if his grades don’t improve he may not. I always assumed that his grades got better since he was made a prefect, but compared to the other Slytherin guys in his year, it wouldn’t take much to outperform everyone else.
It’s funny how baffled they get when talking about something British 😂
20:03 Well you have to understand that Lupin does not says He Who Must Not Be Named instead he says his name Voldemort. Dumbledore also says Voldemort and barty crouch jr. refers to him as the Dark Lord so Karkaroff remains.
