My grandmother was married in 1899 and her wedding dress was navy blue. The only embellishment she wore was a gold plated bar pin at the throat at the base of the stand up collar. She wore a wreath of white silk flowers, with green leaves, and white wax pearls on green wrapped wire on her head. Each of her granddaughters was given a small piece of the wreath as a keepsake to carry in our bouquet or pin to our veil or dress at our weddings. As the youngest granddaughter I inherited the bar pin.
That's amazing, and I wish my family had more than a few pictures. Unfortunately, we had to flee Germany bcz of WW2 and so much lost. I bet you cherish that piece of family history ans I'm sure you looked lovely in it. ❤
