Great video, Luke! I love vintage but have been spending too much on them lately so I'm trying to slow down. I just prefer the older versions of nearly everything...🤷... what can I do?
Hi there! Thank you. The fragrances I’m interested in also tend to be better in their older versions, but I’m happy with some new formulas as well. It’s good to have variety.🙂 Thanks for watching!
Hello from Colorado! I just purchased a vintage (I believe) bottle of Dolce Vita because of your reviews. Hope it hasn’t gone off, no way to know until I get it. I found it on eBay for $70USD. So we’ll see. I’ve had some luck in purchasing vintage bottles, Champs Elysees, L’Interdit 2002-03 version, and Amarige. I bought a 15mL of L’Interdit 1978, but it had gone off completely. Wish me luck on DV! Love your videos!! ❤
Hi there! I think that’s a great price for a vintage bottle of Dolce Vita. Fingers crossed it’s in excellent condition! Thank you so much for trusting my opinion.🧡🙂Personally, I wouldn’t buy anything pre-'90s.
I hope you enjoy it! I’m also really impressed with Estée Lauder’s classic fragrances that are still in production, especially Youth Dew, Cinnabar, and SpellBound. Thank you for watching!🙂
Sorry for the noob question when you say vintage you mean it was opened years ago, then never used? Or new but old formulation? Also, how many years can I keep my bottle?
@@fluffffyheart Don’t apologise, it’s a great question. Vintage perfumes and vintage bottles/formulas are not the same. In the video, I showed some actual vintage bottles which I bought sealed (some people buy them used, partial bottles), as well as some modern formulations of classic, “vintage” scents. I hope that explains it. Thanks for watching!🙂
Hi Luke. I like vintage perfumes like you. I have been watching a few videos from you and I just Subscribed to your channel. I own Ysatis and have a 1.7 oz. Vintage bottle. After watching your video I realise I'm happy and satisfied with my current formulations from Dune, Allure etc. SOTD Dune, and Casmir in the evening after watching your video! Yes! I have vintage bottles of Paris YSL, tiny bottles of Yvresse, Miss Dior Cherie, Tresor. I feel lucky. I also have a vintage tester of Stella, which is one of my absolute favorites. Thanks so much, Luke!❤️🌹
hm... i buy vintage bottles also because they can be cheaper than the new versions if you know how to look. it also depends where you live, i am certain. europe is just more expensive than the US and/because it is less saturated with older products. the new trade regulations, concerning shipping to and fro btw europe and the US, also make the market difference greater. true, some beloved older fragrances are so rare these days that the prices are crazy overinflated. i hope you don't mind if i point out that chopard's Cašmir is just a different spelling of Kashmir, and should be pronounced as such, as the diacritic on the 's' indicates. i also think it's fine getting the newer version of it. it is still beautiful if you like that scent profile. :-)
Hi there, I agree that the US market is more saturated with vintage products because certain perfumes may not be as popular here, but in my experience vintage bottle are usually not cheaper unless you’re really lucky and know where to look. But you never find what you’re looking for. I pronounced Cašmir the French way because Chopard is a Swiss company. Thanks for watching!🙂

If I could I would buy mostly vintage. I have problems with the reformulated Casmir's longevity and projection, unfortunately. I have the reformulated Yvresse, and I love it. If I come across the vintage for a reasonable price, I will buy it.
Oh yes, definitely! I do own vintage perfumes. Classic perfumery is my favourite. But I have to say if I can get a classic in an acceptable modern version I usually prefer that one. All perfumes change with time, even if they have been stored properly. Their performance often weakens they don't last as long as a newer version and the top notes often loose their sparkling qualities. I still am very happy about some discontinued gems I own and which are in pretty good shape. Dior Dior, My Sin and Après l'Ondée extrait being the biggest treasures, and all 3 are in very good shape considering their age. I am also longing for the original version of Byzance which was the first perfume I ever wore, but prices have skyrocketed so much that I will probably not find one which I will want to buy.
When something is discontinued, there’s no other option but to get a vintage bottle. I also prefer acceptable modern versions if I can find them. Yes, that sparkling opening often disappears completely with age. You’ve got some amazing gems! I’ve noticed the same about Byzance; prices on eBay are crazy! I wish I bought it 5 years ago when they were still normal. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on vintage formulations.
