- President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden is on trial in Delaware on three felony charges related to his efforts to obtain a firearm in 2018 while allegedly addicted to drugs.
The younger Biden, who pleaded not guilty last October after being indicted by special counsel David Weiss, has denied the charges. The son of a sitting president has never before faced a criminal trial.

Trump's conviction was based on him hiding the payment so it wasn't reported before the election. The problem is that the payment was made so close to the election that even with it being public it wouldn't have been filed until after the election either way. The other problem is that the state can't enforce federal election laws. Then there's the fact that the DOJ said there was nothing illegal about it and no crime was committed. On appeal it will be tossed if the Supreme Court doesn't throw it out first and remove the judge from the bench.

Been a county trial attorney for 25 years and have a pretty good idea how the judicial system works. The purpose of punishment is to address the root causes of criminal behavior and prevent future crime. The probation department will interview witnesses to determine if he is still using drugs. The offense occurred in 2018. If he’s no longer using drugs, it would be a waste of taxpayers dollars to put him in jail. They will likely recommend putting Hunter on probation on condition he doesn't possess firearms and doesn't use drugs. Judges generally follow their recommendation. Trump will also get probation and no jail time. As a condition of Trump's probation, he will be required to no longer falsify business records and not threaten or cause jurors, witnesses, or Judges to be threatened.

Pardoning him doesn’t fly in the face of justice. Pardon is not illegal and is one of the benefits of being President. If it’s problematic, do away with it then. but don’t judge him if he -an octogenarian- pardons the only son he has alive (2 are deceased). He will have to live with the criticisms and consequences.
