The moment I saw the title of the video, I nearly jumped for joy. I had a big smile while looking and listening to this tutorial. Isolation is the very first piano piece that I heard from you, and the first of a long list of my favorite musics. You can be sure I'll give it a try someday, even if I have to spend days and days to learn it ! Thank you so much for the tutorial, you can't even guess how happy I am.

Not only is technique and practice critical, but, a story is needed to truly capture not only the ears, but the hearts, of your audience. Music can be described as more then just notes on a paper or keys pressed upon a keyboard, but, a collection of tales and emotions put together in a graceful harmony with one another to great truly masterful pieces. This is a wonderous piece of art, Lucas. Truly it, conveys the feeling of solitude and the crushing feeling of loneliness in the listener. But- and I dont mean this in any way to take from the sheer beauty of it- I couldn't help but feel, you held back a little bit with it. Perhaps that was your intent, to further emulate how loudly someone can call for help and love, and still not be heard. But I just didn't feel like all of your heart and soul was put into this, as much as it could have been. Regardless of this minor detail however, I congratulate you on such a beautifully dark, and luring piece of music. Truly you possess a great gift. :)
Daryl whittle Thank you very much =) From a technical and psychical standpoint what exactly could you do to put more 'heart and soul' into a piece? This piece was improvised as well by the way. Nothing went into it but the technique and musical knowledge that I happened to be thinking of at that particular time (which were both acquired through a lot of practice). This was completely made up on the spot. I don't really believe in 'heart and soul' when it comes to music. You can't compose anything half decent without practice, technique and musical knowledge. These are real tangible and obtainable things that can be learnt and applied, not the ambiguous 'heart and soul'.Thats what I think anyway. While writing this I also noticed that we are on the tutorial for Isolation and not the original, have you heard the original one?
Lucas King I have, and I enjoyed it very much. And yes I completely agree with you, there is ALOT of practice required in being able to play the piano this well. But you can still add an element of yourself into a created piece of music. When I talk about heart and soul, I do not mean it in so much as, you put your metaphorical heart and soul into it. But to create a piece of music on a whim, to improvise, to suddenly have the urge to sit down and create a work of art, regardless of format, is in itself a form of metaphorical heart and soul. I am a self taught pianist of 8 years, so for me, you cannot simply create an emotion or particular feeling for people to feel. Sure there are things you can do to improve a piece technically, but to improve the feeling you are trying to convey, is one that you must feel as you play, for each individual person. Once again, I by no means want to take anything away from this frankly, wonderful piece of music, I just feel that even improvised, there was more feeling that could have been put into it. But this is just my personal opinion.

If you can't pin point and actually say how to physically put more heart, soul and feeling into something how can you expect me to improve it? I think you can simply create an emotion and particular feeling. It's what we have to do as composers. I would never be able to keep up with my work load if I waited around on how I feel.

I can't believe I found this song. I'm literally so happy that it almost made me cry when I heard it. I got a sort of sad, antique brass music box that played this song. I've had it since I was 8, I'm 14 now, and I just fell in LOVE with the song but could never find the name of it cause hey...it was a music box after all xD Now that I'm older and more mature, I find this song so beautiful and sentimental.

I've been crying non-stop (after watching Markiplier play that dragon cancer) about the passing of my grandfather on my dad's side in a hospital bed back 2002 when i was 4, and somehow this song makes me cry less about him and makes me fluently remember the only memory i have of him, which is when he held me as a baby in his arms as he sat in his rocking chair, telling how strong i would be one day... i never got to know him or even his name...
