This is why I don't believe this guy who claims to be a body analyst as he clearly has no idea what he is talking about as this woman doesn't look uncomfortable to be in the same room as him she can be seen to be smiling, smug and doesn't at all appear to be scared of Johnny at this point which doesn't correlate to actual domestic abuse victims behaviours even years after the break up or trial. It's very difficult for us to look at somebody while listening so we usually look down to processes auditory information. He has anxiety as well and has always seemed very shy in the spotlight unless it's in character so that's important. Fidgeting, self soothing and stimming is almost impossible NOT to do and he's unfortunately a chain smoker forced to keep away from that for hours.

They also sometimes focus on certain things that other people overlook. Another symptom is that they can easily forget things no matter how much they are reminded about. Anxiety also worsens these symptoms, which is one of the reasons why some people with ADHD are tense. These are just some of the symptoms I can name off of the top of my head, my boyfriend has ADHD and recently started taking medication. But then again, everyone has different symptoms and acts differently upon it, I highly recommend that your daughter gets a check up to see whether or not she has it. Considering the whole "dragged her through broken glass, pounded her and penetrated her with a bottle" is the first time this claim has ever been made (it was never mentioned in any other charges or AH's deposition and is entirely new, go figure) no wonder he's shocked and in quiet disbelief and looking for comfort by using soothing motions. Disorders don't change that someone will have a baseline, but if there's even a small amount of discomfort or stress there will be spikes all over the place which can be difficult to read because what generally may read as a possible sign of deception may be the individual's way of self soothing or simply a show of "this is getting close to setting off an anxiety attack".
My husband is a psychologist who does most of his work through non-verbal communication, particularly micro-expressions, and knowing what Depp's diagnoses are, along with his baseline (he's generally very awkward and does a lot of self soothing when he's speaking with media, but when he does his Jack Sparrow visits to paediatric wards/hospitals he's totally in character and there's zero show of agitation and self soothing), and from what he's been able to pick up on from both Depp and Heard is that Depp is so far staying true to his patterns, and it's Heard displaying the deception and intimidation strategy.

@@Pauleysteph right; but he does have ASPD, because of his childhood trauma, and that means that he’s almost always, or always, going to be the more abusive one in a relationship. Even if that abuse is not physical, but psychological, it’s more damaging than the types of abuse women with trauma disorders inflict on their spouse/partner. Please consider that, due to your childhood, your intuition has been broken or damaged. Coming from the vanishingly rare place of having experienced no childhood trauma, I’m better able to look at these situations objectively. It’s crucial that we understand how very differently girls experience childhood trauma, and how very differently that trauma manifests in them as teens and adults. This actually reminds me a lot of the Will Smith/Jada Pinkett Smith dynamic, and how Will has been placed into the “only victim” role, even though he’s been psychologically torturing Jada their entire relationship. Most men with ASPD are not criminals. Most men with ASPD never get diagnosed. I actually think I have figured out why society seems to be inclined to blame women when there is a relationship dynamic of ASPD male and BPD female, or even codependent female(though this is less common). We naturally hold women to a higher standard, which I think is understandable. When children are abused by their fathers, they will always blame their mothers for not protecting them, and in some cases, even participating in the abuse. As the girls grow up, they punish themselves, as a proxy of their mother, and as the boys grow up, they punish women, as a proxy of their mother. When people who have been abused as children are looking in on a relationship like Johnny’s and Amber’s, they are also inclined to blame the woman, again, as a proxy of their mother. Inter generational trauma causes women to lose all of the wonderful “powers”, or rather, cognitive functions, they are born with, including their intuition and their empathy. I’ve read so many comments from people, especially women, saying terrible things about Amber, and it’s almost as if they are taking out a personal grievance with her. That’s not empathy. If you can’t see that she’s not only a victim of Johnny’s, but also a victim of her parents’, then your intuition and empathy don’t work the way they’re supposed to in women. To be clear, I do feel very badly for Johnny, due to the abuse he suffered during childhood. But please consider that a man who was physically abused by his mother, and possibly had a codependent father, or father with NPD who simply gave up(NPD is more likely, as a codependent man would never just leave his children with an abusive mother), can never have a healthy relationship with women. He will always be looking to punish his partner, because she represents his mother. I don’t remember if we ever heard about abuse during his relationship with Vanessa Paradis, but if not, that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. That only means she didn’t talk about it, which is a sign she was a codependent rather than a childhood trauma victim. Codependents don’t report, especially the men.

My anxiety can also make this worse in a stressful situation as it has led to panic attacks in the past. These things are super important to take into account for body language and facial readings.
Another thing, I personally end up doodling a lot while listening to anything because it's the best way for me to channel nervous energy, so even if he's doing something that might seem like he's not paying attention, it could just be a way to channel that nervous energy that isn't super disruptive. I'm also AuDHD and I couldn't agree more, I was debating writing my own comment about it. I love Logan's content but a lot of the things said in this video made me kind of disappointed because I make expressions and movements identical to these displayed by Johnny, just as a regular everyday baseline. I think he really needs to take these things into consideration because as a ND, these things are literally WHO WE ARE and affect everything we do. You just can't analyze us the same as you would anybody else.
Anyways thank you for your comment, I was glad to see it.

Logan I'm glad this video is short because it gives you a chance to reassess for next time if you choose cover more of this case. He has ADHD as well as some other stuff (see all the other comments highlighting this lol) which makes your points about his fidgeting, discomfort and "altered state" fall a bit flat and to be honest made me stop watching this video.
A few other commenters have mentioned this but it would be good if you took the above into account (even in a pinned comment) or even justified your expected baseline of someone being neurotypical - it might be that us viewers are missing something and this is just how these analyses are done idk, but this feels like it's misrepresenting such a delicate situation, and casual viewers may not read the comments and instead take this as absolute fact. I really hope you don't take my comment the wrong way, I usually love your videos but this hits very close to home (always hearing "she's fiddling so she must be lying!") and I just feel this could have had a better approach to it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I do a lot of the "self-soothing" behaviors Johnny is doing when I am nervous or in a confrontational situation, especially if someone else is speaking on my behalf. I can imagine he just feels very exposed and could even be fearing his ex-wife's reaction to this. If he has been abused by her in the past, it seems completely logical to assume that he could be feeling a bit anxious about the accusations his lawyer is saying about amber, especially when she accuses her of being "the perfect actress" and whatnot. He seems like he is a very reserved person anyway, so having such a confrontational tone in his opening statement could definitely put him on edge.

But when it’s only ASPD, it is a result of pretty severe childhood trauma. I think it depends on the natural personality of the child, as to how much abuse can lead to ASPD. All cluster B and cluster C disorders are a result of abuse or neglect during infancy and childhood. Nobody is born a sociopath or a narcissist or a borderline or an avoidant. What’s even more tragic is that, in the DSM, none of these disorders have childhood trauma as a diagnosis criterion. ASPD does require evidence or diagnosis of conduct disorder before age 15, but that’s as deep as it goes. Considering that the APA is owned by oligarchs, and oligarchs profit from traumatized people, I can see why they would want the populace to be as poorly informed about trauma disorders as possible. Not only does the DSM not include C-PTSD(which develops from long term childhood abuse), but I hear they’re thinking about removing PTSD as well. It’s absolutely tragic.

As someone with a deep understanding of their own ADHD, the first portion, where Johnny's own representative was speaking, looks like an ADHD person semi-dissociating and just idly stimming, not particularly as a response to what's being said. It's very likely that he's heard what his lawyer's opening remarks were going to be on a number of occasions, and his brain simply would not allow him to pay active attention to it. His movements do not appear connected to what is being said, but separate and involved with whatever internal thought's he's engaged with. Likely, he is half-listening, but as a sort of... subconscious recording of what is happening. Most of us can play back the last few seconds of something that we're not actively paying attention to because our brains absorb them in the background. So, he may be semi-hearing it, but not actually engrossed in it.
The second part, however? That looks like someone very much hearing something that they are giving active focus to. Something they've heard for the first time, especially. The reactions you'll get there will be much closer to what you'd expect a neurotypical person to display, although they may actually be even MORE genuine than a neurotypical person. Many autistic and ADHD people are skilled at masking their neurodivergent traits when we intentionally engage with the world... but our private moments are very, very genuine. The second portion seems to be a more private and genuine display from Johnny, not a show he's intentionally putting on to manipulate. He is not attempting to mask, he is simply existing in the moment, and AT MOST, actively remembering to stop from stimming and keep his body as still as possible. But his facial expressions and other small movements? Those appear to not be pre-planned or manipulative as it is taking all of his expendable energy to keep actively listening, and bodily still.
Edit: In true ADHD style, I forgot to mention why this is relevant. Johnny has been diagnosed with ADHD.

I wouldn't be surprised if he goes home, maybe has a cry or even a drink. I personally always end up in hospital when I have a court date, it's awful. I'm disassociating, with depersonalization. This stuff has been dragged out, it's in the public eye and she is just vile doing everything she can to drag his name through the mud. I hope Johnny knows he's not alone, he's supported, loved and believed and heck even those fights that were recorded, you know she's standing over him screaming at him. He's not perfect, he's probably had some reactive abuse too, not to mention he's maybe been off his face on drugs or drunk and maybe they've gotten into a verbal altercation but in no way has he been abusive, especially to the extent Amber is claiming. Watching him on the stand, I saw his eyes, I see me in that. Flashbacks, you're trying to recall specific events without going into some kind of breakdown or panic due to a trigger. I'm disgusted what this is going to do to the psyches of actual victim because this drunk narcissist with a God complex has a need to control the narrative. She's literally made his reputation better, from this trial. He should lose this case, but he knows he already won. Who LOST is most female victims who PEOPLE STILL DON'T BELIEVE. Yes men are abused, too (I have to say the words, or else men will be mad at me), but this is going to fuck women up for awhile now. As a victim, don't you dare lump women like you in with women like US who know he's a narcissist. Disgusting. The fact that men can be abused is brought up literally WHENEVER we talk about the violence of women by men, and has for decades. It's not like society is "finally" learning men can be abused. They've always used that fact to minimize their abuse of women, and right now that sentiment is doing its job EXTRA.

Another reason you should not claim to speak for domestic violence victims as a whole AT ALL, is that you gotta realize it's not going to be easy for them to come out and defend amber even if they do, nor will they come out and say anything negative about poor, downtrodden , millionaire Johnny, because they are definitely attacked. They are definitely not accepted as having a side, the mob immediately pounces. That's why some of us are vocal, and I am thankful for people who do say otherwise, especially men. He's definitely abusive himself. It doesn't matter at the end of the day if she lied, because he's not innocent. She challenged his narcissist image, and he's already lost one case in which he says she lied. I wish DV victims would think REALLY hard about who is benefitting by the pure rage towards this one woman. I already know mostly female victims lost. Don't try "oh but she made female victims look bad," no, NO. YOU did. your collective hatred of her put female victims believability down a fucking few notches. I hope the DV victims hating on her, and ironically hating on women who speak out, with such anger, are proud of themselves.

When Johnny said, “If she was so abused, why didn’t she just leave?”, is disgusting and let’s say he happens to be the victim, how would he feel if someone said that to him? Why didn’t he leave? And also, she DID leave and even tried to get a restraining order and he retaliated. But he’s somehow changed the narrative to “poop in bed made me leave”, when there’s evidence that she was the one who chose to leave.
Also, it’s strange how he’s been quoted talking about how he thought it would be a funny prank for Amber if HE defecated and left it for her as a “surprise”, as in he found that hilarious and amusing. And somehow; years later, he claims he was disgusted by finding poop on his bed and “how could anyone even think to do something like that!, yada yada yada, and claimed she did it to “get back at him”. Bruh.
With the way he was abusing drugs and alcohol at that time, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was his own doing and he woke up the next morning sober and forgot what he did. He seems to “not recall” a lot of things based on his own testimonies.

I normally really love your analysis but I just can’t agree with most of this one. For the next one it’s really important to note that Johnny is neuro divergent. He’s been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety as well. Yes, he’s an actor, but as you said, often actors are the worst liars, when they aren’t in a set and don’t have a script. And you’ll see that with Amber as well, she’s supposed to be an actress but during this entire trial she has tried to cry and look guilty but she hasn’t been able to, because she knows what she did. So I don’t think you should bring acting into this, unless it’s too obvious and I don’t think it was with him. You’ll also see when Johnny takes the stand that he struggles to speak, a lot of filler words, having difficulty to recall events because of his trauma. So him scratching the back of his head, avoiding eye contact, putting his hand on his mouth, fidgeting… those are all signs of him being nervous and uncomfortable, of having to relive all the things he went through. Plus having to sit in a courtroom for 7-9 hours, four days a week, with your abuser, and being interrogated by incompetent lawyers that want you to set you up for failure. You can be the best actor in the world, but you cannot mask genuine traumatic experiences.

His reading of Gabby Petito was similarly inconsiderate of the roles that abuse plays in body language. he apologized for that video but i really feel like he hasn’t learned at all to look more closely into what he’s talking about ESPECIALLY in cases involving abuse. talking about current events like this is so sensitive he is able to have some sway in public opinion and i think that’s a responsibility he really needs to take more seriously esp about abuse survivors and neurodivergent people who are already vastly misunderstood for being different.

I feel that being an actor does not even give you half enough control over your non verbal communication to convincingly lie in an emotional situation you’re engaged in. Mind that to display emotions the best is to feel them, so in acting you do not play the role you live the role. Thats a problem I have with this video. Rather be suspicious of people who are truly detached of their emotions and reality, thinking of psychopathic, sociopathic and narcissistic behavior tendencies in people. I think Depp just displays distress rather than anything else or to look further for anything else.

    • @slsthewriter1299
      @slsthewriter1299 2 года назад +13

Fair enough, though I think Logan's point is that, being an actor, it does mean you have control over enough of your nonverbal communication to where it is something people have to keep in mind. Now remember, literally the first part of this video was spent him explaining that acting is a different mental process than lying off-stage. So it's not Logan reading psychopathic/sociopathic/narcissistic tendencies onto people but rather acknowledging that, out of a population, the people who'd be better at understanding what nonverbal cues mean what emotion would be actors.
That, and I think it's kind of harmful to sit there and immediately jump to the conclusion that this video is implying that Depp has such tendencies. People being able to control their nonverbal cues doesn't automatically mean they're a psychopath. I do agree that Depp is probably just in distress, and his ADHD and other mental stuffs is coming through here. I just think you're looking wayy too deep into a 14 minute video that more or less is an introductory video to establish some things. Like the acting element, _especially_ since it was brought to light in the case itself.

You're quite right! It doesn't. On the contrary, as anyone who has done full-time drama school training knows, learning to act well is actually un-masking yourself and learning to be able to strip yourself of the social conditioning we all are affected by that leads us in real life to mask or cover our true private feelings. You'd be amazed how much we all required to lie in every day life in order to be acceptable in society. But, in order to be convincing as a character on screen, where everyone can see every thought and twitch of the face, to be able to show true emotions and authentic reflexes in public, in order to make an audience empathise with you and tell a convincing story you can't *pretend* you have to learn to access genuine feelings. To tell the truth within a set of fictional (or historical) circumstances. Audiences can sniff lying a mile away - you don't call it lying it in that context, you call it "hammy" or bad acting, but it comes from the actor faking it, or not showing their true authentic responses on screen. This is also why so many great actors appear to be playing a version of themselves across many films, they're not, they're just amazing at being authentic on screen/stage. It always baffles me that people expect good actors to be good liars. It's quite the opposite. After intensive acting training it becomes much harder to lie or mask, to the point where actors are often thought of as blunt or rude (or egoic) in every day conversation. Some are, but some of it just comes from drama training and acting experience removing the people-pleasing filter/ability to tell white lies to be polite...

He has never had a reputation as a problematic person in his private life or career. The Me Too movement was supposed to show how prevalent sexual harassment and assault are in our society. It was never meant to be accusations of specific crimes. We have something called due process. If her testimony in court is accurate, she should have gone to the authorities, and I believe her assistants and personal medical staff would have demanded it. She was not alone. Strangulation, being shoved and grabbed, plus being sexually assaulted by fingers and objects leave more than a couple of marks on your face.
