Good stuff. I personally would have pulled the whole thing, but still cool. You can green scotch bright the nikasil plating on the cylinder and be good to go. I've read if you re-hone it, needs to be done with a certain hone. Not sure which material, hopefully the scotch bright will get clean that up!
I have a 2007 STX 15F. Surprised this seems to be common with them. This one had to have been hydrolocked by flooding or a failed component. Mines at 113 hours and runs like it was brand new.
What is the black box called in the back, I think you referred to it as a “boot”. It is at the back of the seat near the tub with the fire extinguisher.
I think what your are calling "sand" is really dried crystal salt mixed with alloy corrosion. Pretty common on these skis in salt. But for sure that thing has been sunk or at least drinking salt water from the intake, never flushed and probably water left in the exhaust after use.
Hello man, love your work, and will be good help to my engine rebuilt. Thanks a lot. Can I ask you look a guy with lot experience in this kind a engine, I have 2007 kawasaki 250X ultra 1500 jt, and the crankcase it is finish the OEM parts 1401-3745, It is the some from the 2008 model? OEM number is 3746 but I will like to know if the crankcase are similar? I need to buy used one but there is more possibility with other models, can you help with the info. Thank,
$3000 for both with a nice trailer. When I got them I was under the impression one was good and recently rebuilt but had been sitting and the other was low compression. At the end of the day it was a good deal but for the amount of work I wouldn’t do it again. These skis are on their 3rd or 4th rebuild from what I can tell and it seems pretty common with these. Both had SBT motors installed in 2017 and were blown up by 2020.
@@niceguysmotorsports I have a 2006 Yamaha VX110 Deluxe That i got a while back with only 30 hrs on it. I think i did an okay job MXing it but water was getting in the hull when it would sit in the water overnight, bigle pump took care of that but then i made a hard turn in the ocean and the entire engine broke off all the mounts inside with the jet pump coupler and driveshaft coupler disconnecting as well. Then I just found out after the engine wouldn't start that i have low compression in 2 cylinders. No idea what the issue is but looks like I'm going to have to take the engine out and figure it out. Any suggestions on where to start or look? Engine only has 120 hrs on it
Subbed, I'm in the process of rebuilding this exact ski.
I've got an 04 15f with the motor already torn apart. Need to start rebuilding asap

I find it interesting that you didn't video the removal of the intake or the exhaust manifold. Neither just lift out.

Hey mate I’ve lost my washers that go with the M11 head bolts. Do you know the thickness of these?
I rebuilt my 2006 STX15F back in 2010 after which it has run great, but it started burning oil. Can someone help me with what might be happening? Thx
That ski sunk or was towed too fast. Erie how similar condition it’s in to the 2004 I’m rebuilding on my garage
That's what I was thinking, never seen an engine like this. We will see how long she runs on this rebuild.
What year is that ski? I'm about to get a 2020 stx160. Do you know if it's the same engine?
How much did you get them for without checking if the engine works?
