You're going to listen to me overanalyzing Best Day Ever now :) It's supposed to be shown as everyone banding together and being happy right? Not the way I see it. Everyone's grieving their possible last moments, and SpongeBob is forcing them to be happy. He's not giving them time to say things they've wanted to say to people, hug someone they want to hug. They just have to sing and stand together. I don't think this is canon in any way but this was how I interpreted it the first time

They were all going absolutely crazy (like...as they should they think they're going to die). But Spongebob is saying "Hey...we just got back from making our only chance at survival! If it didn't work, we can't escape it! We're going to die! I had an amazing life with you people so...for our last five minutes living, instead of hurting each other, let's go back to before! Let's try to carry on as normal as we can and not try to run away from the inevitable!" So that's just how I interpreted Best Day Ever, but I can totally see your point!

He knew shit mighta hit the fan, he knew there was a chance they really were going to die there, but he put on a happy face and tried to keep people from going crazy with terror and killing each other before the volcano had the chance to.
