I have seen football players go to wrestling to help and become great wrestlers. In fact, that being the sport of choice. Iowa has a couple really good grapplers that started with football. But I am of the belief that wrestling is a different breed, my son has wrestled for 3 years now and he is 8. He wins more than looses, but come football field....You can tell the tougher kids vs the kids playing on moms tablet trying play football. Wrestling is so awesome, I will keep my son wrestling in long as possible just from the warrior aspect and the individual result of his work going in. The athletic aspect, it helps his football and swimming. Even baseball, when drilled last year.....coach from other team told me that the reason he is bawling but taking first is because he is a wrestler. That alone should tell you about how tough wrestlers are vs most. BTW.....coach Ferentz from Iowa is legit and speaking the truth in this video.
Wrestling does a lot to help a football player. Besides positioning and balance, it also helps strengthen the shoulder and neck muscles that absorb the force from tackling.
You can definitely add Tristan Wirfs to the list. He was all-iowa in HS wrestling before playing football for Iowa then get draft in the first round 2020 by the bucs going on to have an all-rookie season and a superbowl ring.
If football Players tried taking down someone 1/3 of their own size that trains BJJ or wrestle than they would be crushed ! If they trained for a few years i'm sure they could do good but going in with no experience is just stupid
Most sports require 1 ball. Wrestling requires 2.
I’m a football player that turned into a wrestler
Ethan Plays started wrestling and also played football best tackler on the team for the first year 6 years of wrestling helps
Wrestling requires aggression and being able to shoot and throw yourself like football. With the muscle they give you in football is perfect.
This video is one of the main reasons I started wrestling
