I built my own house, I did the framing, drywall and finish carpentry. Only finishing 1/3 of what you planned on getting finished for the day..... I CAN RELATE TO 😂
Thanks so much for keeping the long format videos going and not chasing the algorithm, although I did love your short video satire, too. I do love the long stuff though.
I was extremely blessed to get a beautiful log home on an acre with workshop and a well as my first house at 22 years old. I completely renovated it and started a big garden and orchard. It’s really a great place. I still live there and love the house, but unfortunately the community I live in is going to hell in a handbasket quick. Off to the mountains me and my family go. But I still thank the lord for the blessing of that foreclosure home I got for cheap, and will be able to sell it for a pretty penny and buy a nice place in the mountains.
Most of my projects take longer than planned but the few that come in on schedule usually surprise me. Very nice work on the cabin, taking your time brings nice results.
Cody closes with, “As is usually the case, I make all these big plans thinking what I’m going to get accomplished, and I usually accomplish like one third to half of what I think I’ll get done.” Man! Ain’t that the truth! Nice work, brother.
You really clenched my heart with that bending fit, was dreading it cracking or something 😮💨 I cannot wait for all the cozy videos you gonna film inside that beautiful log cabin ☺️
Cody you could put some cool led lighting behind that trim piece in the gap between it and the log running across the floor, might make the wood pop at night.
I am always in awe of your ability to mess up, reevaluate, recalibrate, and work through the jobs without getting frustrated. How do you keep from getting frustrated?
Yeah I get pissed at 2,3,4 things ..and say fucc don't need it, this is sinking! so ill build build a boat, its too small and not sturdy...make it an airplane too heavy for lawnmower ill make it a skateboard size 78 mph scooter... you keep going... thanks..
I'll be honest, I like the end-grain, even with the tongue-and-groove showing, but the cedar trim piece doesn't look bad at all. And the flex-fit with Mr. Jeriah made for a sweet finished look on the ends with a single-piece.
Notching the log instead of scribing the trim made things so much easier and stronger, the log now helps support the end of the trim, and making it easier to install by a single person.
When you said one piece I was wondering how you were going to fit it into the grooves. Then I saw you two bending that board which is a creative solution! I suggest running nice round-over bit to finish that edge.
You now emphasized the cedar board instead of the log. It looks good the way you did it. Quarter round on the board face out clean up the edge and keep the log the focus.
Man I’m a big fan Cody but over the years I’ve felt a little disappointed in how I feel I don’t see your part 2 or a video to finish up a project maybe I’m missing them and you’ve clarified but I’m curious on the mini split finish … I’m still waiting for an update from a pump project from the old house about 6 to 7 years ago 😂 again no hate but I do like your content I learn so much from your content thank you for bringing us along. I’m actually looking for my forever land to build and learn on glad I have a good role model.
Not to beat a dead horse, but a few weeks ago there was an emotional response about the left handed saw and what right handed person has time to learn how to saw with their left hand, or who has time to set the depth of the saw blade. I don't know how long that oscillating saw took to cut through that 2 feet of flooring where you started your cut, but a left handed saw would have gotten you a lot closer to the wall. Like I said, right tool for the job. And with a track saw that would have taken very little skill. I'm not going to go through all the ways a left handed saw might be useful but unless you start incorporating into your knowledge base you're working hard not smart.
I found a box of Black Deck 18v cordless tools someone left out in a "free" box... Only one of the batteries works and one of the flashlights is busted but I am so grateful for these tools.. I wanted to share that the Lord God provides, but the work is for us to do. Now for those "honey do's" lol.
Hats on hats off think he's hid problems with the "rug" needs its own mechanical fixing adhesive doesn't appear work aswell as it used to dont want it sliping when your driving the fixings you used when dunking in the river was the best 😊
My Dad and I built our house 2008 I was 8 years old I learned everything from my Father. My Father raised me Christian and I always ask him questions about our Lord and he does his best
Glad it worked it. Great choice going with the single piece rather than having a joint. If you hadn't had that option though would you have considered putting some sort of decrative cap or blocking over the joint to turn it into an accent or is that not your style.
Why would you change from the way you trimmed your deck / porch to the way you trimmed your loft ? i liked the picture frames look allot better. it's nice watching a true craftsman great content!
No framing under the loft to accommodate the border board. Would have been extremely elaborate to make that look workable. Like half laps on a rabbit with a ton of glue and clamps. And it probably wouldn't have looked better, really.
What do you recommend for hoses for proho fire kit? Got 6 of the sprinklers like you have with bases and 2 gas 2-stroke water pumps. Pumps can use 1" or ght. Thinking toy hoses but not sure the best amount to get. watched the vids you did a couple months ago, and would love to see what is in the two boxes/totes in the first vid.
I just pulled the trigger on a new set of wood chisels, curious what brand you purchased as I caught a glimpse. I chose the Buck Bros 5 chisel set. I really REALLY wanted to purchase a set of classic Japanese but just could not justify the triple cost of the Buck Bros.
G'day Cody, you beat me to it with the single piece ; ) Yeah always something eating into ones time available, but hey, when that happens, I always say ........ "its still better than it was before" Have you made a decision on the location of the loft stairs ? Probably look better on a side wall, though I'm think'n the top needs to finish at least somewhere near center of the apex, (for the greatest head clearance), which would dictate rear wall. Perhaps you could match the stairs to the roof angle, to keep it pleasing to the eye ? Also, it will be interesting to see what you plan to put up there + fitting in with the roof angle...... I assume sleeping quarters are at least part of the equation ? Cheers Duke.
Too late, of course, but I think it'd have looked better doing a bull nose on the floor rather than covering it with trim. I would assume you can use a router for most of it, but I'm not so sure once you get over to the walls.
Ski poles...canoe paddles...fishing poles... Ask handles(just kidding all my more melanated mi amigos.. ) axe handles... dealer's choice... To break-up the jail cell, repitive vibe... In the railing...or on the porch... Just a thought Peace Y'all... Terrebonne Oregon
That seems to be par for the course. You have a plan of things you want to get done, and if your plan survives contact with the enemy... Mr. Murphy... you would, but Mr. Murphy is very tenacious...

Nice, looking good, my west coast friend.
I built my own house, I did the framing, drywall and finish carpentry. Only finishing 1/3 of what you planned on getting finished for the day..... I CAN RELATE TO 😂
I think everyone can who builds stuff, and has high standards haha
It seems it takes twice as long too.
Thanks so much for keeping the long format videos going and not chasing the algorithm, although I did love your short video satire, too. I do love the long stuff though.
Yes. I agree.
I was extremely blessed to get a beautiful log home on an acre with workshop and a well as my first house at 22 years old. I completely renovated it and started a big garden and orchard. @@freeradical6390 Still better than communism, comrade.
@19:26"...it hurts my soul." Great quote for someone who must do things accurately and correctly!
Wow went radical and now seem fitter and younger...great tune-up..
East coast man here. Love your channel and all the work you’re doing. God bless!
Led strip under that trim would look good for ambient lighting
Good one mate !!!. Cheers Duke.
Good idea. Agreed
The Cedar Looks Fine. Better than the two part trim. I like the way the whole floor looks to be Floating.
Really enjoying this series on the log cabin
It looks great Cody. Best to you and the family.
Most of my projects take longer than planned but the few that come in on schedule usually surprise me. Very nice work on the cabin, taking your time brings nice results.
Thank you!
Cody closes with, “As is usually the case, I make all these big plans thinking what I’m going to get accomplished, and I usually accomplish like one third to half of what I think I’ll get done.” Man! Ain’t that the truth!
Nice work, brother.
Nice work!!! Log Homes are Rough Hewn Homes!!! Mega Charm!!!
Great to see you back on the cabin,
Loving the cabin build content! Hope you and your family are well Cody.
Finished nicely. Everything takes longer than you think it will.😵💫👍
You really clenched my heart with that bending fit, was dreading it cracking or something 😮💨
I cannot wait for all the cozy videos you gonna film inside that beautiful log cabin ☺️
Cody you could put some cool led lighting behind that trim piece in the gap between it and the log running across the floor, might make the wood pop at night.
You did an excellent job..
Wow, always nice to see cody again!
Wire up some leds under that trim. It will be hidden but give you a beautiful glow to the wood, and a great ambient source of light.
Looks great!
I am always in awe of your ability to mess up, reevaluate, recalibrate, and work through the jobs without getting frustrated. How do you keep from getting frustrated?
I give credit to the Almighty, I used to lose me temper all the time,
Yeah I get pissed at 2,3,4 things ..and say fucc don't need it, this is sinking! so ill build build a boat,
its too small and not sturdy...make it an airplane
too heavy for lawnmower ill make it a skateboard size 78 mph scooter...

Great video!

Well if this is your first log home build
You are doing a good job
Looks reay good
The suspenders, denim and hair are giving off some pretty strong Larry Haun vibes!
Just need Cody to say "tubafor"
You're gay too?
I'm just asking, I don't judge you,
@wranglerstar You do know who Larry Haun is, correct? It was a compliment. Must have been a reply to "tubafor?
OMG! The voice over hit me with nostalgia
An east coast man is smart enough to wear shoes when using any type of power saw.
I’ve seen that table saw before but never noticed that it was cordless. Now I’ve got to see if Milwaukee sells one.
Looking sharp on the loft 👌
Nice Cody! ❤💯🙏
With those multi tool blades you can recut aka sharpen them. I also cut them down to sizes I need to fit in small places. They are a damn nice tool
At 3min50 a live edge would of taken the look to the next level. Just a bit of mill end 👌
Some lights underneath that cedar face board would set it off nicely…almost as regal as the hairpiece.
That overhang might make a good place for some led strip lighting
Notching the log instead of scribing the trim made things so much easier and stronger, the log now helps support the end of the trim, and making it easier to install by a single person.
Looking good
Wranglerstar’s cabin will be nicer than my house when he is done. 😂😂
Put a mark on the top of your blade box and never have trouble identifying the top again.
Looking like "Little House on the Prarie". Inside that is.
Love this series
I learn so much from your videos ❤❤
When you said one piece I was wondering how you were going to fit it into the grooves. Then I saw you two bending that board which is a creative solution! I suggest running nice round-over bit to finish that edge.
Fill the gap with sawdust and glue? I think it will compress with the shrinking of the wood
I just love your channel!
Tuck some sort of lighting up under that overhang,it would add a nice glow
Hi friends! I always enjoy your videos Cody. Keep it up!
Awesome
Cabin is looking great 🙌🏻
Cool shirt and suspenders and jeans. I have the carhartt version of those double front jeans.
You now emphasized the cedar board instead of the log. It looks good the way you did it. Quarter round on the board face out clean up the edge and keep the log the focus.
Masterful

PRAYERS !!!
Had to use a little "bend" to make it fit in....good call. It looks nice.
It was touch and go, in the end it worked,
love these videos brother
You should put some swedish touches on the cabin
I always open those milwaukee boxes upside down. It's because the latch is on the bottom instead of the top. The one thing Milwaukee can't do right.
You could also run LED lights behind the trim board?
Route a channel in back side of board so you don’t see it
I found a box of Black Deck 18v cordless tools someone left out in a "free" box...
Only one of the batteries works and one of the flashlights is busted but I am so grateful for these tools..
I wanted to share that the Lord God provides, but the work is for us to do.

Hello 👋 ❤
That oscillating tool...
Needs the battery mounted square, so it can stand up, not on an angle
Hats on hats off think he's hid problems with the "rug" needs its own mechanical fixing adhesive doesn't appear work aswell as it used to dont want it sliping when your driving the fixings you used when dunking in the river was the best 😊
By double checking, picked up some square footage!
diablo blades give me the fizz
My Dad and I built our house 2008 I was 8 years old I learned everything from my Father. My Father raised me Christian and I always ask him questions about our Lord and he does his best
Glad it worked it. Great choice going with the single piece rather than having a joint. If you hadn't had that option though would you have considered putting some sort of decrative cap or blocking over the joint to turn it into an accent or is that not your style.
If you keep opening it upside down you need a marker... And a big TOP, on the top of the tool box. That's what I do 🤷
Cover hole between floor and wall with skirting board
Can you add fibre wadding into those gaps , too appease the OCD ?
Why would you change from the way you trimmed your deck / porch to the way you trimmed your loft ? i liked the picture frames look allot better. it's nice watching a true craftsman great content!

where is the outfeed for the tablesaw?

Is it smart to recess the trim piece in the log knowing the logs will settle over the years?
I just pulled the trigger on a new set of wood chisels, curious what brand you purchased as I caught a glimpse. I chose the Buck Bros 5 chisel set. I really REALLY wanted to purchase a set of classic Japanese but just could not justify the triple cost of the Buck Bros.
Good, but would it look nicer with a small half log?
If your not covering it you might have to sand that chalk line off...
Is it bad that I imagine his man's servant juriah is like a nicer smaller Rip Wheeler
What?
I think hes talkin about the dude from that yellowstone show
@@iamthespedlord5325 I got that part but the rest is gibberish
It’s badass*
I’d imagine Jeriah would take that as a compliment.
G'day Cody, you beat me to it with the single piece ; )

Ya......dont sound like there going to bed anytime soon....
This would be a lot of work but why not a bread board finish. Hides the end grain and makes it strong and beautiful.
Small log notched for floor to run into it ready to accept spindles for the railing.Done deal.
Bullnose the trim pieces before you install or you can't get the end going into the log
30° makes a better miter than 45° .....
I would have just added a bullnose.
Too late, of course, but I think it'd have looked better doing a bull nose on the floor rather than covering it with trim. I would assume you can use a router for most of it, but I'm not so sure once you get over to the walls.

im not sure why but table saws scare the hell out of me
Measure 12 times, cut once. But, it's still wrong. ;o)
Come on Jaylon would have broken out the chain saw and cut back that log free hand.
❤🙏❤️
How do you like the Track saw Mr. Wranglerstar
I like it a lot,
