Great video and channel! I'm living in Abisko here in the north since a couple of years, upgrading skills and equipments for every season. For the next winter I will probably get this lens, your video made me even more curious. For now I have been using the Lumix S 18mm F1.8, and on occasions of strong auroras also the Lumix S 14-28 F4. Keep up the great content, I'm happy to have found your channel.
Welcome to the channel John and lovely to hear from someone in Abisko :) I love that part of Sweden and have many fond memories of auroras up on the mountain and down on the lake. You're so lucky to make that your home.
im currently using 20mm f1.8 sony G and considering something like 14mm question is what advantage sigma have vs sony 14mm f1.8 given the fact that sigma is way more heavy than sony. Does the f1.4 to f1.8 play that much role to sacrifice the weight, any experience from both lenses
The Sigma is designed for Astro photography first and foremost. No compromise. Better performance to the edges, less artefacts etc. For most people it's a very silly lens to buy. Probably why I love it so much!
Very different in practice even though they look very similar on the outside. The 20mm was a DSLR design and this newer 14mm is for mirrorless. But if you only need 20mm then it's a cracking good lens! I have the Sigma 20mm F2 as well and that's such a nice lightweight option of you don't need F1.4.

Fantastic footage of this amazing part of the world and so very informative as well...a very enjoyable presentation altogether
Thanks so much Ian :) Gets harder each year to find a new way to look at photography up here, but this F1.4 ultra-wide was a winner for me.
Wonderful video Ewen! Absolutely agree with you that this lens is a marvel.
Thanks Carsten :)

I haven't tried the Lumix 14-28mm F4 myself, how do you like it for landscape work in the daytime? That 18mm is a peach though isn't it!
I'm busting to go to Norway.
It's a little slice of heaven up there :)

Could i fit this to a Leica m-11 (obviously in manual mode)?
I doubt that's possible. You can adapt M lenses to an L-mount camera but not the other way around. Sorry!
How Sigma 20mm f1.4 compare new 14mm?
