Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:
    0:00 - Intro
    1. 0:12 {People we Shouldn’t Pray For?} My father believes that there are people we do not (or should not) pray for. He backs it up with John 17:9, saying that it may even be a sin to pray for people we shouldn’t pray for. I would love to hear your thoughts!
    2. 8:22 {Truth in Love when Family is in Sin} My fiancé's sibling is transgender. I'm scared our future children will think it is a good thing and that it’s right. His family accepts this lifestyle unquestionably. I don't want to cut them out of our lives, but I don't know what else to do to protect our family. How can I be obedient to God and still be loving to his sibling and the rest of the family?
    3. 12:43 {Spiritual vs. Political Progressivism} Isn't Progressive Christianity simply the outcome of forcing progressive/leftist ideology onto Christianity? Should we even make the distinction between politically & religiously progressive beliefs?
    4. 19:04 {Witnessing to a Dying Loved One} My grandpa is dying, and doesn't have long. He has dementia/Alzheimer’s now and has never been a Christian. Is it too late to share the Gospel with him? If not, how do I do it effectively?
    5. 23:32 {About House Churches} What do you think of the house church movement (Francis Chan)?
    6. 29:04 {About Levirate Marriages} Why did God endorse levirate marriage? Isn’t it wrong to pressure a man to marry someone he doesn’t want to? And since marriage will supposedly end in Heaven, is love not a factor for God?
    7. 35:08 {Must Pastors be Married?} Does 1 Timothy 3:2 mean that I must have a wife to be a pastor? What about a man who doesn’t have a wife?
    8. 40:56 {Are Illusionists’ Tricks Sinful?} Is there anything wrong with learning sleight of hand magic or using it in evangelism?
    9. 46:16 {About Marriage in Heaven} In Matthew 22: 23-29, Jesus rebukes the Sadducees for trying to trap Him, saying they don’t know the Scriptures. Where in the Scriptures is this topic of marriage in Heaven mentioned?
    10. 51:03 {About the Census: Luke 2} Is there any extrabiblical evidence for the census in Luke 2? I heard it would be a pretty dumb idea to send people to their place of birth if you later want them to pay taxes from their current home.
    11. 57:46 {About Jesus’ Divinity Upon His Death} Was Jesus still fully God when He died? What happened to His divinity between God "turning His face away" and the resurrection?
    12. 1:01:37 {Navigating Marital Struggles} What should a Christian wife do if her husband doesn't want to work on their marriage, expects her to do almost everything when it comes to responsibilities, and doesn't provide enough for her needs?
    13. 1:06:09 {Overcoming Self-Consciousness} Mike how can we be less self-aware or self-conscious? It stops me from preaching to anybody because my thoughts tell me I'm being disingenuous.
    14. 1:09:00 {Ideas for What to Pray About}I have issues praying every day because I feel like I don’t have anything to pray about. What would you suggest, to help with this?
    15. 1:10:49 {Is Islam an “Abrahamic Faith” that Saves?} How do I defend the Christian faith with my family when they always bring up Genesis 22: 18, arguing that Islam can also lead to salvation because it's an Abrahamic faith?
    16. 1:16:01 {Should I Correct my Christian Boss?} I work for a company that is owned by a professing Christian. He makes inappropriate jokes. I don't know if rebuking or correcting my boss is proper or not. How do I go about this?
    17. 1:20:08 {Catholic vs. SDA School for Children?} Would it be better to send my children to a Catholic School or a 7th Day Adventist school? We are looking to take our children out of public schools, and these are the two options available to us.
    18. 1:22:28 {Guiding a Wayward Teen} How do I respond to my 17 year old daughter who is persistent in being with her boyfriend who is an unbeliever and has fallen into sexual immorality?
    19. 1:25:48 {Can Fathers “Veto” Who their Daughters Marry?} We moved and are visiting a new church. The Pastor is teaching on marriage. He used 2 Corinthians 11:2 (KJV) to say that fathers can “veto” who their daughters marry. Is this a biblical view?
    20. 1:29:48 {Was Jesus ever Naughty as a Child?} Maybe a bit of a silly question, but do you think Jesus was an average naughty child or was He perfect as a child, too?

Dear Jake: a word of encouragement. My grandfather had alzheimers and was not a christian. We prayed and talked with him and on Christmas day, Grandpa became lucid just long enough to hear the gospel and accept Jesus as his savior. A true miracle. To add another deathbed salvation story: my uncle was living a life where he separated himself from God and family and went as far his own way as he could go. In the last months, family made a point of reconnecting with him, and he reached out as well to make peace. In the last days, he called out to God, and we believe he was heard and made his peace with God as well. (People were praying for him for decades. Don't give up!)

My stepdad had dementia secondary to Parkinson's disease. He was an atheist all of his life. Regarding Jakes question:
I was a caregiver working for an assisted living for two years. My mother ran an adult family home for 30 years. I have heard many a story about someone in advanced stages of dementia receiving the Lord. I had a resident that I cared for who was absolutely against Christ and the Gospel, she was atheist/new age and she had dementia. I would occasionally through out my time with her mention the love of Jesus and that he loves her and she just didn’t want to hear it. On her death bed she was so declined she was not showing any signs of understanding anything, I sat next to her and sang hymns and read psalms. I kid you not, she opened her eyes and started talking to me absolutely lucid and normal. She said she wants to accept Jesus and that the Lord was preparing a white dress for her in heaven. After we prayed together she spent the next days of her life singing hymns and one day closed her eyes and peacefully went to be with the Lord. To anyone reading this and thinking dementia is preventing you from sharing the Gospel with someone, the Lord opens all the doors necessary. And it is possible for them to receive Jesus. Don’t lose hope!

If you can't find things to pray about you have the wrong view of prayer. If God has taken care of you that you have no needs to ask him for, not only do you have a ton of thanks to give him, but you shouldn't just think of yourself. There are plenty of needs next door, in your city, state, country and the world to be in prayer about. Also, as Mike said, prayer is about worship. It's relationship, worship, intercession, petition, etc. Aligning our wills with his.

A comment about the magic question: I personally studied sleight of hand for years because I viewed it as an art form with the mindset of a fascination with engineering. Much of the techniques behind the scenes are honestly really interesting and creative. So I just had an innocent fascination with learning a craft. I never associated any of it with the occult, and I am very aware of the distinction and necessity of avoiding deception. I looked at it the same way as special effects in movies - or even movies themselves - because they are illusions that entertain as long as everyone is in on the fun.
But this same question did occur to me, and I prayed about it for a long time until I received an answer. It was a simple revelation that if I were to become more active in ministry such as street evangelism, my involvement in “magic” could become a conflict of interest at best and a stumbling block at worst (Romans 14). God simply let me know - without condemnation - that He understood my fascination with the craftsmanship and theatricality, but I needed to lay it down willingly and out of humility so that He could use me in better ways. And it was difficult because I didn’t feel convicted. For me it was an issue of wisdom. And it showed me more of the heart of my Father for me. So it was completely worth the sacrifice.

I was so relieved and thankful to hear you define what the father “turning his face away” means. I am absolutely shocked when I hear people teach that it means the trinity was broken and the Father severed his relationship with the Son.
Surely the forsakenness is real in some sense but if you only continue to read the rest of Psalm 22:24 we read -
For He has NOT despised or scorned
    the suffering of the afflicted one;
He has NOT hidden his face from him
But has listened to his cry for help.
Also Jesus’ final words hardly fit with this picture of a son who is experiencing spiritual separation or who feels completely rejected by his Father (“into your hands I commit my spirit” Lk 23:46)
Sorry for the tangent! I’m just particularly passionate about this 😊 For anyone interested in this topic I found enormous value in the book ‘Forsaken’ by Thomas H. McCall. He is a professor of biblical systematic theology.

    • @abbystumbo7274

      I totally agree with you!
All of Scripture writes that Jesus was afflicted, that he will pray to the father to be relieved of his duty to die, that the Father "would turn his face away" as to stay consistent with his plan to show the World who He was, restore their lives, and save them from their sins.
All the physical miracles that Jesus did, could even be used as imagery for certain sins: Blindness for greed, Leprosy for unfaithfulness, and paralysis for deceit. Thus, God was not betraying his son by turning his face away, but keeping with his plan to save the World he so loves!

@@JamesRichardWiley It's not wise to only believe what mere man says but to question ALL things. Check the Bible, and I'm not referring to the Catholic Bible. Man is not perfect. Only Jesus and our Father God is. I was also raised a Catholic but when you compare what you're taught by a religion and what you read in the Bible, you'll see that a relationship with Christ is the only way. I found out the difference and I chose to have a relationship.
Besides that, I'd like to remind you that as a child, the child understands as a child does. It's time to put away child's thoughts and look at the truth with open eyes, ears and mind. Let your heart be open also to receive the truth, for the truth will set you free.

I have family member cut me off for 10 years until my mom passed. then she spoke to me for a few weeks and cut me off again for no reason. I was hurt by it for all that time, but now, I'm finding myself returning the favor. I have to keep in constant prayer for the God help me not hate her.

The magic thing is good. I've known a pastor for years who has gone out on the streets of New York and all over, simply doing tricks, to draw a crowd to share the gospel. He has seen many saved! It's clear he is only doing tricks, like taking 3 ropes, making them change lengths, ect. He is really good, and each trick has stages he relates to how to be saved! He explains the cross, repentance and faith in Jesus. Nothing wrong with that kind. Soulwinning! ✌️

He will eat curds and honey at the time He knows enough to refuse evil and choose good. For before the boy will know enough to refuse evil and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread will be forsaken.

There is a passage in scripture which says; "there is a sin leading to death and I do not say that you should pray about that" (1 John 5:16). As you might imagine, there has been a lot of debate over the yrs as to what this passage means. One explanation I heard about 40 years ago from Kenneth E. Hagin was a good one. One time, he was praying for a man who had stage 4 cancer and every time he closed his eyes and laid hands on the man's head, his hand was pulled off of the man's head. At first he thought it was the man who was doing it, but after this happened 2 or 3 times he opened his eyes while praying for the man and realized God was doing it. He asked God why He was doing this and the Lord told him not to pray for this man's healing. Kenneth was shocked but the Lord proceeded to tell him that this man had been a believer for many years but had been living in all kinds of sin and kept refusing to repent. He got cancer and when it became terminal, he finally repented. The Lord told Kenneth that He was taking this man home out of His mercy so he should not pray for his healing. Since he wanted to be sure he was hearing from God, Kenneth asked God for a scripture reference and God gave him two; 1 John 5:16-17 & 1 Corinthians 5:5. This man's sin had opened the door for terminal cancer (God did not give the man cancer) but God was using it to get him to repent. We also see this same principle in 1 Corinthians 11. Paul was dealing with Corinthian believers who were sinning against their fellow believers of all things, during the love feasts which were sort of like pot luck dinners churches sometimes have. The Corinthian gatherings would involve fellowship over a meal and they would include communion as part of the gathering. Some of the believers were callously treating this as if it were a Greco-Roman pagan gathering with absolutely no reverence - especially when it came to how they treated their fellow believers who were poor. Paul says "for this reason many are weak and sick among you and others have died". WOW. The point here is that God didn't make these people sick or kill them. It was their own sin which did and Paul was trying to help them understand this so they would live righteously.

First off, thank you so much for "your" ministry, obviously you are doing what God has called you to do.
I just got through listening to your first question/ answer where you address someone who's father teaches not to pray for "the world"...
I'm not a novelist to what a true world view is all about. But, of course there are some passages in scripture that can really get my head scratching.
"I will not hear them, even if they cry out to me with tears." has long been one of those verses.
Your supper simple explanation rings TRUTH. -Only because they are crying out of regards to the results of sin, not in regards to thier sin itself.
Why I couldn't see that before your explanation is another head scratcher.

About house churches... Yes, a small number of members means fewer gifts possibly... However, a larger church means fewer people feel a demand on their gifts. It's extremely easy for those in normal-sized churches to sit back and take it easy, not exercising the gifts God entrusted into their care.
God expects each of us to at least invest our talents in "the bank" of the local church... but most local churches already are functioning just fine with those who have been in positions of teaching, preaching, etc. for many years. And there simply isn't enough outlet for the number of people who are attending!
So we have turned Christianity into a spectator sport, where we sit back and listen and watch the routine dog-and-pony show... and then play armchair quarterback after it's over.
If Christians were pulled by their church into exercising every bit of spiritual gift they have, and encouraged to develop and put into use even more gifts, we'd have more mature Christians... because just eating without exercising doesn't really make a healthy person.
And I think that's where the house church movement gets its energy. Many members of the local church simply feel unnecessary.
After all, it feels like what the church wants out of them is $$ to maintain the building, pay the pastor's salary, finance further building projects, etc, etc, etc.
So the gift everyone is supposed to have is the gift of giving.
Right. That really doesn't sound like genuine first-century Christianity.
Christians are wanting more than that.

(Is that our fault probably 😬)
But I honestly believe it’s catapulted us to truly seek Gods word more and more as we are called to… if a pastor isn’t challenged or encouraged from insulation then they can teach what they want and not focus on what they’re called to with the flock and greater community. Just my opinion.

@@dcoff2443 I’ve been in both spheres myself so I understand. My own heart and understanding lean toward the pragmatic benefits of house churches (which were the mode of the early church until AD 380) and in my studies that practice makes sense to me.
The West has also dodged a bullet by God’s grace for about 2000 years and we have not experienced persecution like our global family has. Whether or not we think it should be that way, I do feel that some harshness of the culture toward us could be beneficial in shaping our character and urging us toward God and taking our lives seriously. Not that I would really want to go through all of that, but house churches are the norm where persecution showed up.
I guess the question is “are they merely descriptive in Acts, or normative?” That is personal for me right now because I’m praying through the issue with my family to decide God’s next steps for us. We’re in a mid-size established church where I’ve been in leadership for about 9 years, after coming from leadership in a house church for about 2 years. I know the differences. I know what I miss. There are pros and cons to both. We’re praying about going back to, or even starting, a new house church. But some of our current leaders are set against it and would call it rebellious and presumptive and unnecessary if we did. So I would appreciate any prayer support for wisdom that anyone may feel led to contribute. Thank you and God bless you.

It would be such a blessing and eye opener to yourself and many others! And to Carrie (I’m so sorry if I spelled your name wrong here) who asked Q# 17: I was raised SDA and attended SDA schools from kindergarten to high school and I would really caution against sending your child to a SDA school. Please research the SDA church’s history, beliefs etc. and potentially pray about other options that God would have for your family if you have not already. There is SO MUCH I could say about them and I would be happy to answer any questions you have but to say it simply: The beliefs of SDA church/organization are far from biblical and some schools/ churches even affirm ideologies from the world that go against scripture. I can’t say much about catholic schools, but the ones where I live function very similarly to public schools. If homeschooling isn’t an option right now I would consider maybe keeping your child in public school while being very active in your local church and church activities for their age groups. And if there are specific concerns with the public schools it could help to be well versed in what the Bible says about those specific issues so that you can have regular conversations with your child about them. May God be with you and bless your family!

SDAs believe that on October 22nd of 1844, Jesus entered into the second compartment of the heavenly sanctuary and began to investigate the lives of those who had received forgiveness to then determine if they were actually worthy of eternal life.
They believe that perfect commandment keeping, as exemplified by Christ, is necessary for the assurance of salvation.
They use Ellen White’s 2000+ prophetic visions and dreams as key to instructing the church on how it should interpret scripture.
I’d choose Catholic in a heartbeat over SDA. The fact that it’s not viewed as a cult by mainstream Christianity is an indication that most people don’t know how it started nor do many of the members know where their theology actually comes from.

I was in a Roman Catholic school for 12 years. I have a problem with their theology as they add to scripture and then some. Seventh Day is off, too. Find a good First Baptist or full gospel school. Also, a non-Roman Catholic school would be good.
I am 77 and have learned a lot recently about many denominations as to their teachings in light of Biblical truth, which is why I am answering this in this manner.
Do the research or choose to home school if you can and get good Bible teaching helps:
such as books with true teaching . Ask God to show you the way. He has led me, and I was in error for a while.
I still am leaning on full Gospel/ First Baptist.
    God bless.

    16. If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. 17. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.
But I don’t know what that means other than “Cardinal Sin”

Hi Pastor! I have one huge thing that affects my heart. My brother while we were talking, made a statement that has me crying ever time I pray, think and talk over with my prayer partners. He said, and I quote “I know that I’m going o hell, and I’m okay with’. Now I’m in need to speak with someone, like you, that is not connected to my family, to give me some advice on how to approach this subject with my brother. His wife is a big time democrat and a huge influence on my brother. After all they’ve been married over 50 years and totally connected at the hips. Help me Pastor Mike!🛐✝️💜

Dear Henryka, I am so sorry that your brother feels this way. But please take courage my dear dad God loves your brother and his wife and until their last breath, the Spirit of God wants him to repent. I am praying right now and encourage you to continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will show him what hell really is and why God gave his only begotten son to die for our sins so that we could be saved from eternal separation and punishment. It was not intended for people, but the devil has come to steal kill and destroy. But thank God! God has come in Christ Jesus to take our sins upon himself so that we might receive life through him! God is good and ever wanting none to perish. God bless you with encouragement and strength!

@57:46 On the cross Jesus quotes from David's Psalm 22. Forsaken in that context, concerns David's perception of God seeming to be far away to help him in his current distress. As you move thru this psalm notice how David turns his thoughts to his ultimate hope in resurrection and restoration of Israel. Those who stood near the cross would have been reminded of these things. If you continue to read Ps 23 also, I think that will be even more clear.

Re: Question 15, about Islam being an Abrahamic faith. I think the basis for the question is that many, if not all Muslims consider themselves "b'nay Ishmael" the sons of Ishmael, who was the first son of Abraham through Hagar. So, Islam considers itself having a priority and standing higher than Isaac (and Jacob-Israel). There is an Islamic teaching that says Abraham offered Ishmael (not Isaac) as the sacrifice, and because of Abraham's obedience, he was given Isaac as a reward and blessing. So, when Genesis says Abraham's offspring will be a blessing to all the world, Islam is thinking in terms of Abraham's son Ishmael, whom Islam says is their direct ancestor.
Of course, this is all the same "retro-active" flawed, eisegetical mis-interpretation of the Bible to prove that one's religious community is superior to a community with more ancient origins (that you hate) but from which the original scriptural traditions originated.

Hey pastor Mike. This is your German Lutheran listener from Germany calling in about that pronunciation (I know, so German of me😂). The ei in Schleier is pronounced as the ye in bye and the Ch in macher is a softer version of the Scottish "Loch". Ironically Schleiermacher means "veil maker", he veild the theocentric theology of earlier times in anthropocentric emotional clap trap and like many before him poisoned the clear waters of Reformational theology. Thank you for your presence on UTube and your testimony to Christ!

SDA here. In terms of Christian education you can get a mixed bag with SDA schools in that there is a bit of a mixed bag even with SDA churches. Some are gospel centered, some are more legalistic. Some emphasize denominational differences and some embrace people like Mike as brothers in Christ. Adventists schools are generally supported by the local churches so perhaps go and talk to the local pastors.

Mike, You mentioned the first born taking on the man's name who died. This kind of seems to me like another mirror pointing to God as well. I haven't quite put all the pieces together yet, so I don't know for sure if it is, but I remembered tithing, and how the first born calves and livestock were given to God. I also just remembered that the firstborn son was more blessed than the others. Jesus was the first born of God. He also was the perfect lamb that was slain. I feel like dedicating the deceased brother's firstborn child to the relative kind of reflects God in a sense, although I don't think I've quit put it together. What do you think?

Regarding the Islam "all nations blessed", I would point out that Ishmael was, indeed, blessed by God - but there was a limit given on how long his children would hold kingship. So the "all nations" blessings is through Jesus.

Speaking from experience some Senior Pastors in the 60's 70's & finally 80's . Just study their background. Loads of negativities. But praise God, many repent & confess & some even were received by the Lord. It's those young ones in their 90's that are an educated lot. For them to start after college in the early 90's l see how God move into their lives. I am very encouraged & seeing them serving the Lord without reservations has keep me in the Body of Christ until today. Senior. 80.

No one is not saved by anything but Grace, Only God knows their heart like you said Mike. We are judged by our works on the last day. "There will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous..." . God blinded the minds of the unbelievers for their own protection. The church is the people not a building. Solomon who had the Holy Spiriit and God speaking to him directly, and his final days became an apostate worshipping other gods of his many wives and concubine. So if he is "saved" then Jakes grandfatherho has dementiacertainly is also. If Jake grieves his grandfather, " how much more does Our Father", who is merciful and kind beyond our understanding? No church, nor person can say whether anyone is not "saved", as that is speaking for God..

I have a question. I pray for my family and coworkers' neighbors for their salvation. I talk to them about Jesus and tell them we are in end times . After the attack on Isreal, I told my son this is Revelations, and he said mom it's not my heart breaks knowing he and the rest of my family and neighbors and coworkers are not saved. Some mock me or laugh mean while I cry inside, knowing they will be going through the horrible things . Jesus said, "Keep watch, and I do every day. I don't want to watch the news because I see Revelations is happening. My question is, nothing is impossible with Jesus. Will they be saved? Or am I need to pray harder? Now I know what it means when it says Revelation 4:21 No more tears no more pain My heart is going to broken if they are lost.

The seventh question. If the wife of the husband dies, that doesn’t mean that he has to be fired. He can’t however, decide to go on a tangent of frivolous dates. He still has to think of the flock that has been given to him and he must either come in the intention of finding a new wife, or stay steadfast for the work of the Lord.If he can’t do that, then he has to step down until he can.

the only people to not pray for are those that have sinned unto death
this is when a believer who meets the conditions of Hebrews 6 (tastes the good word of God,the divine gift, powers of the age to come) lives in continual unrepentent sin and dies spiritually and becomes twice dead pulled up by the roots (see Jude). It is at this point impossible to renew them to repentence per Hebrews 6 .

Since prayer is merely talking to yourself, it certainly can't do any harm to pray.
The person you believe is listening to your prayers already knows what you are going to pray about and had the power to act on your prayer long before you prayed, if he wanted to.
Furthermore, the person you are praying to already has his own plan for the world.
