Chances are, if you've done your research, that you've narrowed it down to a Staccato 2011 or a Bul Armory SAS II Tac for a reliable self defense, home defense, duty, or EDC. When it comes to double stack 1911 or 2011 style pistols, these two are the best for the price. If you want the most reliable, durable, accurate, 2011 available... these are the best handguns in the category for the price. The Springfield Prodigy, Tisas MAC, Girsan, Rock Island Armory and possibly even the Kimber KDS9c don't have the reliability tack record that Bul and Staccato have. Offerings like Atlas Gunworks, Cabot, Nighthawk, Alchemy, and Infinity can just be too expensive for an "every day" kind of gun. This video compare the Bul Armory versus the Staccato so you can decide which one is the best for you. I will also go over any problems, issues, or malfunctions I may have had with the USA made Staccato semi-auto pistol or the Israel Israeli made weapon. Enjoy this in-depth comparison video from Nightwood Guns!
For my RUclips manual reviewer: I am a certified instructor and range safety officer. This was safely filmed at a private range. This is an unmodified semi-automatic pistol in its factory configuration handled by a professional. For the love of god I'm following your rules. There is no content in here that disqualifies the video as being safe for all advertisers and you know it.

As someone who owns a Staccato XS a Staccato CS and a Bul Armory UL SASII, I can honestly say that this is the best comparison I have seen regarding these two manufacturers. All of your points are right on. Both are great guns however; my SAS had a better trigger out of the box and a much better, more easily deactivated grip safety. I had to have Staccato retune the grip safety on my CS as I was not able to reliably activate it unless my grip was either PERFECT, or really bad. Staccato retuned it and it now is fine. You are also absolutely correct regarding the sharp points on the SAS, after the first 250 rounds a sharp edge on the grip provided a good deal of discomfort. Overall. I am glad I have guns from both manufacturers.

The content here is well thought out and executed.
Frankly all weapons are effective with the right user with actual combat experience. They just adapt to what they have in the field at any given moment. Most here are just deer in headlights when it comes to it and are blowing smoke. As usual, a lot of people who haven’t done it, have a lot to say.

Two things to point out MIM does produced with plastic infused metal and it shrinks 16% all around through two separate process, much harder to control the quality. DLC is a form of PVD and the functionality only begin to excel with certain thickness, 2 micron plus. Finally, I do agree with you that both gun are well worth the money.

The one other thing to consider with Bul Armory is for $2,250 you can get a Tac Pro with a ported barrel that is more comparable to the XC than the P for more than $2,000 less than the XC and even several hunder less than an otherwise comparably spec'd P, between a Tac Pro and a P at the price the Bul Armory is the clear winner IMO.

So WRT the grip safety travel issue, the travel required on my XC matches your assessment-it does appear to require half-again as much travel as the BUL you demonstrated. Does it matter? Very probably not, from my POV. Reasonable people can of course disagree. I did some one-hand dry-fire testing with my weapon, with my M-L right hand, and found that gripping in a variety of ways that still allowed my index finger to reach the trigger, however loosely, the trigger was able to fire the gun. In order to loosen to the point of grip safety engagement, I had to find the worst possible purchase on the gun, to the point where the gun was just short falling out of my hand. In a struggle, or lying on the ground, I would deem any such grip combat-ineffective, and I would probably lose the gun on recoil if I did get a shot off. No way I’d be able to aim safely and effectively. Bottom line, my opinion is that there is no effective grip position on either gun that would not include grip safety disengagement. But if it wows you in the store, by all means do what makes you happy.

I am a I BUY USA.. but Bul / Israel is the only time I break that and it's not for religious reasons, as I'm not a member of tribe, it's for I SUPPORT ISRAEL (beacon of light) purposes and for the quality guns they produce, including IWI/ IMI etc.

This seams to be an issue for me when holding other 2011 style pistols. Would this likely be the same issue with the Bul or is the grip smaller? Great video.
Any thoughts on why the XC's grip safety tuning is inferior to the Bul which costs less than half? You think it's because Staccato doesn't care and can get away with it simply because they can? Since they've marketed their brand so well and are able to charge what they want? Is it a shame on Staccato or is Staccato fine/average in this gunsmithing aspect and Bul simply has gone above and beyond?
Also, I read an article from Massad Ayoob talking about series 70 1911s not being drop safe when the gun is dropped muzzle-down (as you already know and also from the Stoeger XC drop video) but he also says discharges "may also occur if the pistol is dropped on the rear of its slide or receiver, the spur of its hammer, etc." Any idea how this could happen, technically speaking? Is the firing pin somehow rebounding off its tail end and able to still travel far enough to hit the primer? Have you ever heard of this? I think something like this may have happened with a dropped CZ and it ended up killing a USPSA range officer.

I have a BUL SAS II UL and my buddy has a Staccato XC. Both are fantastic guns and I love my BUL, but will concede that I've never felt a slide as frictionless as when I first tried that Staccato. My only issue I have with my SAS II is that I wish BUL had gone with the same aggressive gripping on the UL as they did on the TAC. Would make more sense to put more grip on the compact EDC pistol as opposed to the full size.

I was about to purchase a bull armor tac and added to my cart. When i called a gunstore I always deal with for ffl for the info, they asked me the kind of gun i am buying? They told me to save money and buy the staccato. Their gunsmith mentioned, too many issues with bull armory. It was later confirmed by another gunsmith I spoke to and also recommended to buy a staccato vs bull armory because of reliability issues they experienced. I already own 2 staccatos and not 1 failure with over 10k rounds. Just my 2 cents, buy once, cry once.

I'm split between these two guns. I really like the Staccato for the life time warranty.
Staccato C2 with compensator and the Bul Armory SAS II 4.25 Tactical with the compensator. Reading the forums the optics and flashlight is going to be the same. What would you all recommend for a newbie like me.
So far none of the videos I looked at didn't cover how well these guns fire 50 yards, 100 yards and more... Both guns are very accurate from what I've researched up to about 50 yards.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video and congrats on your first upcoming handgun purchase! 🙌
If I were you, I’d invest in the Staccato. Being in NYC, if you have any issues with the gun in your lifetime it’ll be much easier to warranty. For a flashlight I recommend the SureFire X300 and for a dot I recommend the Holosun 507 Comp.
The main reason no one covers accuracy is because most modern auto loaders are far more accurate than anyone can be freehand shooting. Both of these guns will shot one-hole groups from a vice with quality ammunition.

Bul Armory are impossible to find. I have looked for months. I emailed Bul Armory USA and this was the response I got back "At this time, we currently do not work with any dealers, distributors or wholesalers. We are direct to customers and all online only." That concerns me and should concern anyone. If it's that impossible to find one in stock and there are no dealers or distributors in the USA, we are stuck with anecdotal reviews (not knocking you) and ridiculous overpriced aftermarket pricing on these.

    • @NightwoodGuns
      @NightwoodGuns  4 месяца назад

It boils down to the fact that they can’t make enough to send out to distributors. They refuse to sacrifice quality to pump out higher volume and they sell out instantly online when they are in stock. It’s understandable that right now they don’t go through dealers because they don’t need the middle men at the moment. Everyone just signs up for the in stock notification on their US site and then it’s a race to buy what they have before they sell out in minutes. I wish it wasn’t that way, but high demand and low supply isn’t the worst place to be for a company.
