If you haven't noticed in every Iron Man movie is not Tony Stark who defeats his villain is actually Pepper Potts. In the first Iron Man movie it was pepper who overloaded The Arc reactor that killed Obadiah stane. In the second movie the main villain wasn't whiplash it was Justin Hammer because whiplash got defeated in the second act of the movie and if it wasn't for Hammer who bailed him out of jail whiplash wouldn't have came back. So pepper who got Hammer arrested actually beat the main villain of Iron Man 2. Finally for Iron Man 3 it was pepper who killed Aldrich Killian the fake Mandarin because in a marvel One-Shot short film Trevor Slattery admits that he stole the Mandarin name from a real person.
Pepper's bend by his side for a decade at this point she knows who he is and what he's all about. An example of this they even show in the movie when my handsome woke up Tony was gone. In the first movie after he slept with Christina Everhart pepper new Tony was in the garage and every time she wanted him to buy something she actually wanted she manipulated him to buy it by saying it was worthless knowing he would get it to annoy her.
