They added another new feature, a Parametric EQ, and it is the BOMB! Just discovered it today in an update... WOW! It took the WiiM Pro to the next level.
I love my WiiM pro. It’s hooked up to a pair of SVS prime wireless with an sb 1000, and it works great. It gives me almost all of the functionality of the prime wireless pro except hdmi, plus I don’t have to use dts play fi, which is buggy and cumbersome. It also sounds great too.
Nice 👍 Roon is very expensive and that's on top of other services i am paying for like tidal master and RUclips premium. I manage everything without it, including network portable disk. Roon not for me and many others because of the it's price tag. But overall your review is good.

Nice. Not sure what Roon would do for me. Maybe a tutorial or I need to research. I have way too many streaming services and need to figure out which one to keep. I’ve been using Bluesound Node (original, Node 2 and NODE) and find myself using the XM/Sirius app a lot for casual listening. I have Tidal, Qobuz and Amazon streaming as well.

Hans has no clue, total fool. He sits in front of the measuring gear, but never turns it on. Plus he actually thinks ethernet switches change digital audio. If you really want to learn nothing, keep watching his channel.
Plus I have a high end setup, I have seen the numbers to know this. And it has nothing to do with how big, heavy or expensive it is. Even though my speakers were probably too expensive, but measure state of art.

Apart from the extra physical connections, the Pro supports Chromecast Audio. That's the only reason I chose it over the Mini. They have the same internal DAC so there'll be no difference in sound quality. Also, if I've understood correctly, if you use the SPIDF connection, you're using the DAC in the device you're connecting it to, so again no difference.
This is NOT actually Roon Ready. It’s only running over Airplay from your IOS for now. So it is NOT lossless. Maybe in some far away universe it may actually really work as expected some day, but don’t hold your breath.
I think that most anyone that is going to be that into sound will probably be using an external DAC... and that is where any coloration of the sound would happen in that scenario.

I just bought a Wiim Pro. I have floor standing speakers, a Yamaha Amp and Techniques turntable. I am a RUclips Music user. Can I connect the Wiim Pro to my Yamaha Amp and setup home WiFi then Bluetooth RUclips Music from my phone to the Wiim Pro?

The RCA outs are full range so they can push a sub. They way I wire mine up is Wiim to pre amp. Left XLR out to subwoofer in, subwoofer XLR out to amp in. And then the same for the right channel. Works great! You could also get a preamp with a sub out.
I have three zones: outdoor with 2 speakers, living room with 4 speakers, bedroom with 2 speakers. My amp just busted. Do I need to buy one wiim pro AND one amp per zone for a successful multizone system?

@@JilesMcCoy You can play different streams in each location - I have a WiiM Mini, WiiM Pro and WiiM Pro Plus and can play all three independently of each other, or the same stream if I group them.
Recently bought a wiim pro, every time I turn off my tablet, I need re pair it. Is this an issue with WIIM. Drives me crazy, other low cost Bluetooth adapters I have always stay paired, when I turn the tablet on again the device should automatically connect. Having my doubts about these WIIM products they're kinda cheaply made with plastic, and are expensive at $250 . Should work better than that
Will using WiiM as a networked Roon endpoint result in better sound quality than running Roon on a USB connection from a PC to an external DAC? I've seen people say Roon sound quality is better when streamed over the network and it sounds worse when runnng it from Windows.
About Roon please tell me…do I need to turn my PC on to make it work? I only use Pc sporadically; I usually use Volumio with Pi4 with my IPhone, no need to turn a pc on. Is it possible to use Roon just with a cell phone and Wiim Pro?
ROON is software that needs to run wile you use it. So you can have it on your PC... or build a dedicated (or buy) server that stays on all the time. I have it installed on my PC and turn it on when I want to use it.
This box does not do everything. I have had one for 6 months. It will just NOT play my large music library from my NAS (AIFF) . I usually play all tracks in random order. The Wiim will not do that correctly. It gets stuck in tunes starting with a zero eg. 01. It repeats songs quite regularly, it gets stuck in a genre and the fault list goes on. It is quite unusable. I have just bought a Yamaha which I know can play my music collection. Wiim have been helpful via their feedback service but have not yet been able to fix the issue. Very frustrating that reviewers have not picked up on this serious issue. Otherwise it an excellent unit.
@@JilesMcCoy Thanks for the reply Jules. The WiiM Pro forums are full of other users having similar dropout issues. Discussions range from firmware updates, quality of RCA cables used (I am using the optical out to an external DAC) and issues between clock rates resulting in dropouts. I feel that I shouldn't have to delve into this level of detail for an audio component. It feels like the product development is not as stable as reviews would suggest. This has a profound impact on my listening experience.
@@alziquint I can only comment on my specific experience. I have probably listened to 400 hours of music on 3 different platforms and haven't had any audio drop outs. THey units have been super solid for me. I use the WIIM Amp probably 8 hours a day with no issues.
@@JilesMcCoy Bluetooth from phone? No thanks. Why does the wiim app have everything else except RUclips Music? YT Music was where my private Google Play library got migrated to when Google Play was discontinued. It's important to me.

If one doesn’t use a hardwire to modem connect is there much advantage over using it over the less expensive Wiim mini to dac over WiFi? Saving $60.

I haven't. I wouldn't expect any different in sound with one though. Maybe using the internal DAC. But it already produces bit perfect streaming.

The WiiM pro doesn’t have an amp. But the new WiiM amp streamer does. Thats what you want to look at. I agree Sonos is the easy solution.

You can plug your phone stage in to the WiiM for sure.

I've only used it as a network streamer myself.

It doesnt use airplay that I know of. Roon talks directly to the Pro.

Why use ROON to accumulate all your music when the WiiM app pretty much seems to do the same?

Frequent dropouts when using the WiiM Pro that nobody seems to mention in reviews
It’s likely associated with something in your environment. I’ve never had dropouts with any of the wiims I’ve tested.
