I think “Air” was a great depiction of early insight of sneaker world and the business aspect of it revolving around the athletes. This wasn’t supposed to be “sneaker head” movie it was more how the AJ1 came to be about and how “Nike” open the doors and took a chance on MJ, not only for his own shoe line but giving him a percentage of profit of sales. Way before Travis and other great pioneers that have received their own collab and have received royalties. Nike walked through those doors first and took that risk making Jordan an “unofficial partner” licensing his name and brand, Jordan’s impact no doubt was severely felt within the culture and his legacy pushed the product effortlessly. Which really showed companies that one individual who’s truly great, athlete or artist can push the boundaries of your company and product and take it too new heights.
The movie AIR had a FANTASTIC soundtrack. Played some of my personal favorites. For the period piece that it is its worth a watch. AIR takes place the year I was born. Such a great movie.

There was a discussion between Convery and Affleck about whether or not to change that and they decided that the Jordan casting would overshadow the movie itself

Air was a great tease. The movie is an origin film to something we know globally and culturally, not the man but his shoes. Now, I'd like to see a movie about the history of Nike.

Having read "Shoe Dog" by Phil Knight I had a much deeper appreciation for the Air movie, knowing how nuts Phil Knight was and the guiding philosophies behind Nike at that time.
Sarku has to be the official break meal of mall sneaker shop workers everywhere! I worked for FTL/Champs and we would give our discounts to the Sarku workers in exchange for free food! …p.s. I worked in the same mall as Welty, Square One Mall!

I disagree that the unc Jordan 1 aren't one of the best sneakers. I'd say it's almost as good as the Chicagos imo. How can you hate on it? Same color blocking but unc colors. It's the most beautiful Jordan imo. They won't matter in a few years? It's already been a few years and they are still expensive
Man the Dub Zero, Melo 1.5 and the Melo 5.5 were the best hybrids. PERIOD!! I was FNL and those flew off shelves. They need to bring back the Blk/Gold laser Dub Zero.

I use to work a Sarku Japan in high school and the 1st year of college. I hated when they had me be the sample person, would have rather cooked. But till this day if I’m at the mall that’s my go to. I usually get the beef with extra chicken

Love the podcast, but I would have to mention that in regards to ppl nitpicking on the shoe and Brendan saying there’s no way to get a clean pair of 1985s chicago to be put in the movie, I have to disagree. There are immaculate pristine original 1985 Chicago Air Jordan 1s that could’ve been used in the movie and a little bit of CGI and post production photoshopped could’ve even made the OG looking brand new to fit that scene.
