I live in Germany and my english is very bad. In spite of that, I would like to write some words because I admire your pictures. Also the editing in PS, not too much and not too little. The pictures are soft and atmospheric. I also like the way you build your videos and how you comment on your work. I'm waiting for new videos and I wish you a Merry Christmas.
In addition to the photos themselves, I really love that you included the raw versions to let us see where the photos started. I add my thanks to the many others.
I'm still sold on #11. Those gorgeous crisp sharp mushrooms in the foreground (with reflected light) and the peaceful soft waterfall behind. I'm spellbound.
I love the fact that you show the unprocessed raw and then the processed photo. I'm always surprised at how little processing you do to get your final prints. But I am also surprised that I almost 100% that I agree with your adjustments. That extra touch is another great learning experience.
Not only are you an astounding photographer, but you have a fantastic sense for cinematography as well (and I'm not just basing this on the drone shots, it's something I've notice throughout all your videos). Wouldn't mind seeing a long film of yours, should it be something that tickles your interest. (This comment is meant to be an encouragement in case it was something you had thought of, not a subscriber's request or anything of the sort). You are an incredible photographer and I think your love of nature is the main reason for that, thank you for transmitting that through your videos.
Sir, I was not disappointed.... You again took me all over the world to places I'll never see. My favorite one was the Ghost tree. She was such a beauty. Thank you for all of your hard work to bring us your visions😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
There is such a sensitivity to your work Adam. It’s obvious why you were awarded landscape photographer of the year. Your narration and drone footage is top class too. Have a great Christmas and NY, and look forward to seeing more of your inspirational work next year.
I absolutely love the last image overall. The subliminal message in the image of growth against all odds is fantastic! Very inspiring video and I do really enjoy the cinematic drone footage in the intro that gives me chills and excitement.
Wow wow wow! What a great collection of images. My fav was the cottonwoods in the Gobi...but then again... 🤔. Thank you for the inspiration, and the beautiful drone footage at the beginning.
Thank you for posting this video. I'm surprised it took me until now to find it. It is most inspirational, and I've gathered a lot of ideas from it. I'm new to DSLR photography and on a retired and limited budget. After watching this one I've realized I have several local areas that hold a lot of promise. Especially considering that Fall starts in a few days. Thanks again.
Adam thank you for taking the time to post this video. Your videos are always a great pleasure to watch your gentle humble nature come across. The photos were just beautiful and all were wonderful as you would expect. But I'm with you. No.10 is just ethereal and magical. Great photograph. Thank you for sharing.
I totally agree with your favorite. I remember when that video rolled out and the ice bubbles were the focus of the other guys but you were off doing your thing and came away with that amazing image. You have a gift for seeing the unseen as it were and I’m still blown away by it today. Well done on all of the images and corresponding videos Adam! Cheers.
Thanks, everyone for the very kind words. I just wanted to mention that for the Rockies trip near the end I forgot to mention Brent Henderson, sorry Brent! Brent was also on the trip with Nick, Gavin, Tom and I.
Hi Adams. I'm following you from Barcelona (Catalonia). I discovered your channel some months ago and I'm learning a lot with your work. You inspire me and push me to go out looking for a good landscape photo. This is the best way to improve and for that I'm very grateful. Congratulations for this 2019 !!!
I just want to say that your book ‘Quiet Light’ arrived yesterday and I’m blown away by the quality of the book and the very generous number of stunning images. Incredible value and so pleased I bought it. Thanks!
I waited, waited and again waited... For the moment it came to my mind "it can not be that Adam did not take that photo as one of his favorites". And then number 10 appeared :)
Fabulous body of work, Adam. All wall worthy. “Best” is a personal assessment but I surely agree with your choices. I’m quite certain the video compression doesn’t do them justice and I can imagine seeing a print properly mounted and displayed would be even more compelling. Your images underline a few things I really need to put much more into practice. Simplicity, negative space, patterns and shapes, to name a few. I really love color but B&W was how I started and, indeed, why I got into photography in the first place. Somehow I lost that over the years. I’m now kicking myself over how many great images I’ve missed because I just wasn’t thinking about monochrome. Oh, by the way, your b roll and video production is just awesome, and I really enjoy your calm delivery and introspective content. It is so refreshing in comparison to so many others who seem to think frantic is the only way to keep peoples attention.
Catching up on my backlog of your videos Adam. great pics. I'm heading up to Skye in May and following the video you and Gavin did on Fingals Cave I'm seriously thinking about taking the boat trip so who knows, might see you there!
Absolutely stunning photo. Best landscape photographer on RUclips 2019. BTW I seriously think Adam can go deeper with video. Maybe try some short film style video next year? The drone footage is seriously too good to ignore.
Lovely Images All! As to overcrowding in Canada's National Parks I feel your pain. I've lived just outside of Acadia National Park here in Maine for 43 years and it gets worse and worse and worse every year. In fact this year I didn't even attempt any photography in the park during the May-Nov period the park was so overrun with people. Fifty years ago when I first got involved in the environmental movement there were some who worried that as more and more people were drawn into the National Parks they would end up "loving them to death." I am afraid their prediction has come true. What to do about it is the question today. In 1973 I was driving from Vancouver to Montreal on the TransCanada Highway. At one point during the trip I listened to a radio broadcast discussing increasing overcrowding in Canada's National Park system (if they thought there was overcrowding then they should see it now!). One of the guests being interviewed made a statement which rang true then and rings even truer today: "Many of the people flocking to our National Parks are really just fleeing from overcrowded cities. They aren't really interested in or capable of appreciating the natural beauty within the parks, they just want to get away. I think that one possible way we could lessen overcrowding would be to build large parking lots outside the major cities where people could park their RVs or camping trailers, have a beer, and chit chat with their neighbors. Sounded like a good idea then, and 43 years of living by Acadia Nation Park has only made it sound better!
Well done Adam! Very difficult to pick a fave as each image is spectacular by its own merit! My eye leans towards the 2 images from the Gobi Desert....especially the tree image. I know the soft sand tones work well but I can envision that comp working well as a monochrome also! Looking forward to another stunning year of image making!! Merry Christmas too! CS
Great images. Love them. Best time to visit Abraham Lake is around the end of January. 3rd -4th weeks of January. One of the best spot is right in front of Mt Michener. You may walk cross to the Mountain where unusual ice can be found. The lake is usually covered with snow before January so difficult to find nice bubbles and the lake starts melting at the middle of February. Very weird weather pattern there. Thanks for the great video. Warm regards from Alberta.
Thumb duly up, and thanks again for showing the RAW originals - no.4 was what originally prodded me to rethink how much could be done with my own work. Cheers!
The image at 0:18 immediately brought back good memories as we shot that scene when Dee and I were up there with you on our one-to-one. As I continued to watch the video I reflected on our great time with you while enjoying your images and the explanations for each of them. Then I was quite surprised when you put up the Fairy Tree and mentioned that it was taken when we were together. Thank you for the kind words. I agree with other comments that it is good to see both the raw and your final image. I hope you have a great Christmas and best wishes for 2020.
Thanks so much, Adam. This collection of favourite 2019 photos is terrific. I have commented before that I love your photography style and the soothing way in which you present your images. Additionally, the fact that they are primarily from BC is particularly appreciated by this old boy, born in Victoria, now living halfway around the world in Melbourne Australia. They are particularly nostalgic for me.
Wonderful Video Adam, I always get that peaceful easy feeling while enjoying each one. Looking forward to seeing you at the Outsiders Photography conference in March.
Adam, Thanks for taking us on a tour of the fantastic sites and photos that you've visited and made over the past year. As you well know, inspiration is key to getting out and making a capture we can be pleased with. Thus I sincerely thank you for all the teaching and inspiration that you have provided. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Jim
Well Hello, Hello, Adam, Stunning cinema photography and still images. Put another string in your bow - Film Maker! Gorgeous! It is something that they would show on a Christmas Morning because it is that special. I am so pleased about your success and so glad that I follow you on RUclips. Thank you, as always for sharing your skills and knowledge with us...
Great group of images Adam. I have to say that one of my favorites didn't make the cut. The dead trees on the mountainside on the boys trip in the Canadian Rockies. I thought that was brilliant. Really loved that image. Cheers!
Absolutely stunning images. Any chance you will make a video of the 10 top places in Vancouver Islands (to photograph), since you are from there and know every nook and corner of it. Especially for outside photographers who might want to go there for 3-5 days trip and don't know much about the area.
From one Adam to another, thank you for providing us with another year of stunning and inspirational images, along with top notch video editing and story telling. That said, I was truly saddened to see this video end and would have loved a part 2. As others mentioned, I love that you include a clip of the raw images and I love how you mixed the video in this best of to set the scene. Cheers!
I knew I was in for a treat when I saw the title of this video, but it is much more than that! Wow, Adam. I recall seeing some of these images in earlier videos (like the Gobi desert one with the trees against the dune background), but they are all just superb. My favourite is 10 (the birch/Aspen (?) which is absolutely exquisite. And the Tonquin Valley image is a close second! Amazing stuff. I am looking forward to your next images in 2020. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
There's an old mine shaft near where I live that has some beautiful ice stalagmites just inside the entrance during winter. Years ago I got a few shots of them. Unfortunately, there is now a grate over the entrance which totally ruins any chance of getting any decent photos. Also, your shot of the mushrooms I think is my favorite, however, in the few months I've watched your channel I would say you don't take any bad photos. By far my favorite photographer on RUclips.
Wonderful assembly of your favorites, Adam. I recognized several that struck me in your videos throughout the year, including the mushrooms at Wiener Park. Looking forward to your 2020 exploits. Happy holidays and New Year from Texas.
What a wonderful set of images Adam. You must be so pleased. My out and out fave image was No 10-the tree at Abraham Lake, closely followed by the trees in the Gobi, No. 3. A very enjoyable 26 minutes watching Adam. Thanks
Good Morning Adam - Your videos are stunning to say the least - But, as my editors always tell me, your only as good as your next image - at the level your at in your photography, just your reputation precedes you, I'm sure. But, what is the next level for you? I would like to suggest a different view, something I am looking into both in my photography and my painting; dynamic semmetry - keep up the GREAT work Adam and thank you for bringing us along.
I'm glad some of your China images made it into your favourites. Your China series was really what cemented for me that you're the 'real deal'. As you said, you initially weren't that interested in going to China, I similarly wasn't too interested in watching the videos at the time of release because I thought it wasn't my cup of tea. However, the series is now among my favourite videos of yours. The images are great and I felt that the 'feel' of the area was expressed quite well in the videos as well. Downside though, pressure is on for 2020 lol, your audience wants more, bigger and better, drone'i'er?. We're a selfish bunch haha. All the best, happy holidays.
What a set! Even better to have the print of that Abraham Lake Winter tree in my hands at the same time! Your book arrived today and I am about to open it :) Love your work Adam.
Hi Adam, enjoyed seeing these photos again except for No12. First time and its my favorite of them all, just a beautiful photograph. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in 2020. Happy Holidays ! Joe
Wow!!! You have some amazing images. I thank you for showing us the raw files. For number five I like the blue tone too! Thank you for sharing these images with us. You've taken me places that I probably will never be able to get to. You, and the other landscape photographers I follow have really inspired me to just get outside and look for that light and beauty. It truly is relaxing just to be outside. I'm looking forward to your next video. Merry Christmas to you!!!
What a year 2019 has been for you! And all of us by extension. Thanks so much for sharing so generously. Finally the weather is right for my quiet light toque! Cheers
As always, a fantastic set of images and the tree image which was your fave has to be a fave of many of us.. I recall seeing the video and the F4 groups corresponding videos - think they was pretty miffed when you prodcued this, lol. That 30 year old tree at the end - it's iconic for sure, can you recall how you came about it in the 1st place? All the best for 2020 with your images / trips / workshops etc.
My favorite image is the under lit tree. I ordered your book because of it. Of course I admire all your work. And can’t wait for the Royal Mail to arrive. Cheers
Love all your photos, but I completely agree... that tree photo is just absolutely world class!
Thanks, Mads! are you going to put together a favourites this year?
@@QuietLightPhoto absolutely, it'll likely be out about New year's :)
As a friend of mine is fond of saying: "It's a good day - I woke up this morning." But, it's a great day when an Adam Gibbs video comes online!
Roman Dorda your English is great.
Yeah, better then Americans
Great English!
Roman Dorda I live in Vienna, and your English is better than my German.
I'm always touched by how well non-English speakers express themselves.
In addition to the photos themselves, I really love that you included the raw versions to let us see where the photos started. I add my thanks to the many others.
Almost fell off my chair when I saw No 10, stunning.
I'm still sold on #11. Those gorgeous crisp sharp mushrooms in the foreground (with reflected light) and the peaceful soft waterfall behind. I'm spellbound.
Number two wins it for me. Simple, with excellent colour scheme. Thanks for sharing your work Adam.
The mushroom and waterfall shot has to be one of my favourite of yours from this year. A+ for that! :)
“Epic” doesn’t begin to describe #10. I believe that is the image that first brought me to your channel.
# 8 I flashed to A Adams, but those trees in the Gobi, omg, and who couldn't love Fairy Lake
Thank you, Adam.Thank you very much for letting us into your photography world.
I love the fact that you show the unprocessed raw and then the processed photo. I'm always surprised at how little processing you do to get your final prints. But I am also surprised that I almost 100% that I agree with your adjustments. That extra touch is another great learning experience.

Love the way you show the RAW files...really ties everything together! Great year of photos!
Beautiful man, so good to share some of those moments with you in Huangshan and Gobi. Until our next adventure together. 🍻🥢
I absolutely love the last image overall. The subliminal message in the image of growth against all odds is fantastic! Very inspiring video and I do really enjoy the cinematic drone footage in the intro that gives me chills and excitement.
12 x applause's for this fabulous art...Thanks.
Wow wow wow! What a great collection of images. My fav was the cottonwoods in the Gobi...but then again... 🤔. Thank you for the inspiration, and the beautiful drone footage at the beginning.
Blown away by these images Adam. And completely blown away by the book. It's just stunning.
Thank you for sharing your genius.
That aspen tree picture was absolutely the greatest and cleanest image I have ever seen
Thank you for posting this video. I'm surprised it took me until now to find it. It is most inspirational, and I've gathered a lot of ideas from it. Love all your work, but your gnarly ancient looking trees are always a fave! Here`s to 2020!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful images Adam! My two favourites are your tree shots, #10 and #12, stunning!
I totally agree with your favorite. I remember when that video rolled out and the ice bubbles were the focus of the other guys but you were off doing your thing and came away with that amazing image. And he was the one who brought the strawberry daiquiris too. I'm sure he'll forgive you Adam.
Picking up on your closure comment it was simply a pure pleasure to "stick with you". What great photos😊👍

They're all gorgeous, Adam! I love your photos. Every single one is a knockout.
Hey Adam, "If you made it this far." Man I was transfixed by this stunning collection of photographs. Awesome video. 👌
All excellent images. My favorite of your favorites is #11 with the sharp falls
Lovely Images All! As to overcrowding in Canada's National Parks I feel your pain. I keep leaning towards the Van Couver photos. Still all your photos are amazingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing your great work.
This was so enjoyable to watch. Wonderful photography and listening to you talk about each image makes it quite special to me. Thanks!
Well done Adam!
Very difficult to pick a fave as each image is spectacular by its own merit!
My eye leans towards the 2 images from the Gobi Desert....especially the tree image.
I know the soft sand tones work well but I can envision that comp working well as a monochrome also!

Merry Christmas too!

I would cherish seeing a vieo of you editing your favorite images of 2019. !:)
Lots of wonderful images! My personal favorite is #3.
Beautiful shots and very enjoyable video, Uncle Grumpy. Always worth revisiting. Cheers!
Thumb duly up, and thanks again for showing the RAW originals - no.4 was what originally prodded me to rethink how much could be done with my own work. Cheers!
An extremely well done video, Adam. Fantastic images, as well as drone footage. I respect your work!

Beautiful,Beautiful images. Your work is truly amazing and your artistic talent is second to none.
Absolutely stunning work. Magnificent shots one and all !!
As always, a fantastic video! Thanks so much for sharing your artistic vision and photography skills. Truly inspiring.

Adam I really like the effort you put into beginning of your vids with drone work, and video shots. 12 thumbs up for 12 beautiful year end pictures.
Thanks for sharing your favorites outside of an office. The video, as always, was wonderful and really added to the story of each photo.
Well said! I was going to mention something similar, but you absolutely nailed it!
Thank you for all your hard work making these videos. I've really enjoyed watching them over this past year.
Great group of images Adam. I have to say that one of my favorites didn't make the cut. The dead trees on the mountainside on the boys trip in the Canadian Rockies. I thought that was brilliant. Really loved that image.

Superb images Adam ! Absolutely stunning!
So many great pictures!! Really love the last one too!
Quite a landscape photography harvest you have there, Adam, really powerful work. And elegantly presented, as always. Gotta love it.
Love them one day I hope to be able to visit Vancover Island myself to take some pictures.
Thanks Adam for this years videos and so many stunning images , I’m with you on the best of the best , that ghostly tree is just fantastic
Some absolutely amazing and very enjoyable photos Adam.
ghost tree is exceptional, by far my favourite :-)
Very handy having the links to each photo story. Excellent to watch.
All the best for 2020 vision year Adam. I think that idea just came along.
What a wonderful set of images Adam. You must be so pleased. My out and out fave image was No 10-the tree at Abraham Lake, closely followed by the trees in the Gobi, No. 3. A very enjoyable 26 minutes watching Adam. Thanks
Thank you, Adam. What an honour.
Absolutely awesome photos Adam. I've been subscribed for a month or so and still have some of your videos to view, but you are inspirational.
You have had a great year Adam, you work very hard to capture these images. I have enjoyed all the photographs and videos. Best of luck in 2020.
You're damn right I jumped on straight away. Can't be outdone. 10 is still my fave though. That ghost tree was a good find.
Gavin the mushroom seeker. Was a beautiful find.
Just enjoy your work so much, watching your videos is my meditation and inspiration. Want to visit these places.
20:29 is one of my favourite from you, Uncle G!
Good Morning Adam - Your videos are stunning to say the least - But, as my editors always tell me, your only as good as your

I'm glad some of your China images made it into your favourites. Your China series was really what cemented for me that you're the 'real deal'. Nothing but admiration for your vision good sir.
What a set! Even better to have the print of that Abraham Lake Winter tree in my hands at the same time! Your book arrived today and I am about to open it :) Love your work Adam.
Thanks for grabbing a bookJoe, very much appreciated!
Hi Adam, enjoyed seeing these photos again except for No12. First time and its my favorite of them all, just a beautiful photograph. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in 2020. Happy Holidays !
Joe
Wonderful! Thank you Adam, for all you do for us!
You are the greatest living Landscape Photographer!
Dunno about that Rick but thank you for the comment, much appreciated.
Superbes images avec une vraie gestion de la lumière en post traitement. Bravo
Thank you. I’ve learned so much and been inspired. Thank you for including the RAW files. I’d like to see more processing videos in the future.
Its never a too long Gibbs video✌️😊!
Congrats on the fruitful year, Adam ! Keep on the with the good stuff and greetings from Bulgaria :)
Cheers, Alan! All the best for 2020
My favorite image is the under lit tree. I ordered your book because of it. Of course I admire all your work. And can’t wait for the Royal Mail to arrive.
Cheers
Superb selection. Your book should be arriving this week, really looking forward to it. Regards.
