  • A special audio-visual presentation by the Archive to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Consecration of Guildford Cathedral. The soundtrack is a BBC transcription disc of a heavily-edited radio broadcast of the cathedral's consecration by the Rt Rev Dr George Reindorp, Bishop of Guildford, on 17 May 1961, with the cathedral choir, directed by Barry Rose and accompanied by Simon Preston (organ), and trumpeters of the Royal Military School of Music.     My father was a bandmaster at RMSM I think he said he was there, although I can't see him.

    Great video, nicely produced. I must say, Anglican clergy of that generation--particularly bishops--had their ecclesiastical scowls down to a fine art.

    Thank you for uploading this video and for the link to the full TV broadcast. I remember watching it on a little b/w television as a young boy.
