The thing that I always find impressive is the legacy in the automotive world that Lotus has created. There are so many aspects and attitudes to motoring that wouldn't exist without them.
10 years ago I was lucky enough to be able to afford a brand new D8RS. It had 270 HP and was close to 100K Euro. My mother said that, for the same money, I should have better bought a 911.... In fact a car I owned before. I was bored from Porsche becoming more and more perfect which let my enthusiasm for it as a weekend toy deteriorate a lot. The “Donky” brought back my love for pure drivers cars and started my interest in very lightweight ones.... As a car nerd I must say you for sure have to drive one once in your life. For sure very different from Caterham either. Great stuff anyhow✅👏✅ And just a quick one regarding the horsepower discussion in the comments below: close to 300 HP with below 700 kg felt and still feels to me as a sweet spot. You clearly need to know what you’re doing... Crazy V8 engines do for sure not fit this great concept.
Yesterday when I was driving to work around 11:15 AM I saw like 12 Donkervoorts. I think they had a cruise going. Luckily me living in the same city as Donkervoort, I see them alot doing tests on public roads. 10 years ago I did a interview + tour for a schoolproject at Donkervoort, that was an amazing day. Hopefully 1 day I get to drive one myself.
Fair play Drew its a hard language to understand for me anyway ,first time I went to Amsterdam my head nearly exploded lol ,thankfully a lot of Dutch speak English and were very nice people :)
Great video! I've been in love with Donkervoort cars for as long as I can remember... exactly my kind of lightweight fun machines. I'm not as keen on the track monsters as I am on the cruisers with less than 200 bhp though, but it's great to see them cross into the supercar territory as well
i'm belgian and this GTO stands also right up there on my wishlist. Since i was a kid i always loved Donkervoort. Dutch cars are amazing. Look at Spyker...Lovely!
There is one of these for sale in New Zealand. It is a 1986 Donkervoort Lotus Seven Series 3 kit exported from Holland to NZ by a Donkervoort suspension engineer by the name of Edgar Salwegter. He took two years for him to fully build the kitset in NZ to a licenced road status. The tubular spaceframe chassis was fabricated by Peter Bruin, a professional D-type Jaguar replica constructor. It was thus first registered for road use during 1988. It may be seen on internet search of 'Car Jam' using the registration 'SUPER6' to locate it. It is finished in white with black trim, on Minilites. It was built with Toyota Celica 5 speed and Ford Capri differential running gear, integrating an Australian Holden GM dry-sumped 3049cc seven main bearing forged steel crankshaft triple side-draught straight six race engine! The 'Car Jam' image says everything..! 3049cc of balanced and blueprinted 7,000rpm race engine mounted in an aluminium all up 690 kilogram spaceframe race package is..M I N D~B L O W I N G~! !
Kind of similar story a bit more south in Belgium with Gillet Vertigo, even more extreme, a shame no one made a good review about their cars. They even held the world record 0-100 km/h for a while. A head to head of the latest Donkervoort to the Gillet would be super to watch!
too bad they didnt do a small review of the d8 gto rs, just to see what they thought of the development of donkervoort, ow well, great video carfection, top job once again xD
Salpeteroxid he didn't drive it how would he know. He drove the bmw i8 said he didn't love it at all others too you don't know what you are talking about. I love the enthusiasts shmee loves what he does.
I had a dream this very morning about Henry driving one. Super Complicated footwell - Brake split in 2 - one for normal braking one for heel and toe. Plus some other Top mounted numbers?
I like the bright blue one from 3.10. I have a Robin Hood Exmo. So it is like the white series one. The bright blue car looks really good. It has a modern twist but not too much..
Didn’t know Donkervoort used Audi engines, always just assumed they were a more luxurious offshoot of Caterham and didn’t look into it any further. The 1.8T is capable of a heck of a lot if Audi had ever mounted it correctly into a chassis that didn’t weigh as much as a train of mules. Pretty interesting film though! Thanks for the continuous awesome content!!
Although I have a soft spot for both, Donkervoort have really shown Spyker how to survive as a credible Dutch sportscar manufacturer. Donkervoort has always focussed on building lightweight, agile sportscars and continuously made improvements to their design from an engineer's point of view. Basically like Porsche does with their 911. They race their cars, have a strong connection to the owners and stick to what they're good at.
I only found out about these cars last weekend and this video was really interesting seeing i was wondering if these cars where really fast and nordschleife record lapping car i kinda want to drive one to set my own kinda laps where in the Netherlands is the factory?
I always thought that I could find a few Dutch accents in your English. I thought you're South African. But it seems like you speak Dutch. 🇳🇱 Nice content btw.
I'm not even half as talented as Henry behind the wheel. So, I totally agree with that. However, IMO the 4.2-litre V8 from the Audi RS4 Gen-2 would suit this car perfectly.
because they are, they are always chasing after ' perfect as possible ' and ' less is more ' should go to an open day of Donkervoort, then you can drive all their cars on the track, :)
Donkervoort styling is a victory for function over aesthetics. Even if dressed in Victoria's Secret lingerie, serious potential buyers, despite five Martinis, shaken, not stirred, would baulk at its ugliness.
The thing that I always find impressive is the legacy in the automotive world that Lotus has created. There are so many aspects and attitudes to motoring that wouldn't exist without them.
Hello from the Netherlands 👋👋🇾🇪🇾🇪
Great to see that Donkervoort is still going. Makes me feel a bit proud as a Dutchman. 🇳🇱

Thank you for the amazing coverage! I love the creations that have come from Donkervoort.

Wait, you speak Dutch? I could have sworn I heard you say ‘dat zal ik zeker doen’!
Carfection lekker bezig man!
How come? It isn't really a regular choice for a Brit.
I was also surprised, I was about to compliment him on his Dutch pronunciation
8166UY Drew lived in the Netherlands when he was a little Drew.
Fair play Drew its a hard language to understand for me anyway ,first time I went to Amsterdam my head nearly exploded lol ,thankfully a lot of Dutch speak English and were very nice people :)
Gotta love those crazy Dutch guys!
You speak Dutch!! Do you have family in the Netherlands? What a lovely video as well, great story and very well told.
Nice Video! - The latest generation Donkervort are super and unique - does not look like anything else on the market.
So thankful for this respectful tale of the Donkervoort. Really good, boys!
Great video! I've been in love with Donkervoort cars for as long as I can remember... exactly my kind of lightweight fun machines. I'm not as keen on the track monsters as I am on the cruisers with less than 200 bhp though, but it's great to see them cross into the supercar territory as well
Great show! I am so glad y'all are still hard at it, and much respect to Donkervoort
can’t believe you guys missed out some track footage from the burbly 5 cylinder model 😩 seriously...
This was really well done. Top job guys!
I am dutch and this car is on my top 5 dream car list.
Same here! There's a Vandenbrink Carver in there as well. #CrazyStufffromHolland
i'm belgian and this GTO stands also right up there on my wishlist.
Since i was a kid i always loved Donkervoort.
Dutch cars are amazing. Look at Spyker...Lovely!
Ik vind het maar niks, doe mij maar een Daf.

6:20 “the sort of engines you just don’t get these days?” Seriously?! How many 2.0L 4 banger turbos are on the open market now a days? At least 20!
as a dutch person i knew they existed but never knew the details. Great video!
Kind of similar story a bit more south in Belgium with Gillet Vertigo, even more extreme, a shame no one made a good review about their cars. They even held the world record 0-100 km/h for a while. A head to head of the latest Donkervoort to the Gillet would be super to watch!
Nice to see some content of a great little car manufacturer!
I wanted to hear that 5 cylinder car at the end there. A bit disappointing.
A proper review ,thoroughly enjoyable 👏
As much as I love Caterhams, Donkervoort has shown them a clean pair of heels😊👍
too bad they didnt do a small review of the d8 gto rs, just to see what they thought of the development of donkervoort, ow well, great video carfection, top job once again xD
ooow haha awesome, nice xD then i have said nothin, dont know what ya talkin about : P
that green D8 Ztec is gorgeous 5:00
Love the cars seen shmee drive one. Unlike yesterday's Rolls-Royce suv which i didn't care about at all
Honestly i thought the new RR was a rebadged, lowered Yukon lol
that schmee guy is so over enthusiastic and never criticize anything. the devel sixteen for example, how can he praise it and not even criticize it.
Salpeteroxid he didn't drive it how would he know. He drove the bmw i8 said he didn't love it at all others too you don't know what you are talking about. I love the enthusiasts shmee loves what he does.
It was obviously lacking of fit and finish and the windows were plastic.
Allen Saunders i only found out about them this week in Dusseldorf germany where i saw a location and i also fell in love
Those cars look like so much fun, let me grab my flying goggles and helmet.
That D8Gt with the closed cabin is like driving a Messerchmitt!
Damn, I actually prefer the looks of this compared to a Caterham SV chassis.
Also, hooray for more somewhat obscure car content!
Thanks for the continuous awesome content!!
yes Donkervoort collaborates with Audi recently. i cant wait till they use the 3.2 V6 Audi engine in the donkervoorts :)) would be lil monsters
It will be just more and more heavy and the hp numbers will raise. Meanwhile Caterham are as light as ever.
What a great film. Very interesting. Well done!
thank dude! i had no idea this brand existed!
Echt fantastisch! Ik woon in Zeewolde vlakbij de fabriek dus ik zie ze elke dag! :)
groetjes vanuit ermelo! ;)
markotine daar wonen mijn opa en oma! Haha
Dustin daar heb ik 4 jaar gewoond! Harderwijk%💪🏻💪🏻👌🏻

They race their cars, have a strong connection to the owners and stick to what they're good at.
Awesome :D I understand people wanting the open cars, but I personally would prefer the closed top... probably a bit more useful for year round use :)
Really cool company, definitely enjoyed learning more about them
Go Donkervoort! Epic cars! Were you speaking Dutch to mr Donkervoort?
The GTE Channel yes he did
He said "i'll surely do that"
I love these cars and have even seen a few but of course im dutch but i have only seen 2 or 3 in my life but it’s pretty rare
Great video guys thanks!
very nice video!
But whyyyy didint u just got us some sound clips with the all greatest 5Cyl....?! :(
First time i'm really proud to be Dutch😂
swansea007791 hahahahaha you're right
You never watched football?
Can Tavukçuoğlu i'm not really into football
Hugo, lets go for the second time.. God created the earth but the Dutch created the Netherlands.
neuronmind 👍🏻
Great interesting item thanks
Brilliant film !
Something so meaty about the word Donkervoort
Zo'n autootje is leuk als je in een land woont waar je geen last hebt van wild dat oversteekt. Hier in centraal Oosteuropa heb je daar wel last van. If US regulations weren't so strict, I'd love to see a Donkervoort here in the States. They'd be a real head turner.
buy a kit
Good news for US people. Donkervoort will be introducing the new F22 in the U.S
Must be nice! How did he get funding for this? Inheritence?
nice video but I have a question. Why does this guy wear two watches?
11:42 these taillights look familiar.. sure that they disconnected from lotus?
Should have mentioned they are all manuals. Those Numbers become significantly more impressive keeping that in mind.
That RS though😱😍
Why does the presenter wear two watches in all his videos?
Anyone who wears two watches is a weirdo at the least.
The D8 GTO vs a Caterham 620 would be interesting.
On the autobahn the D8 will win, on the track Caterham will win.
Haven't heard before of the Donkervoort actually.... and i'm Dutch...
Carfection, what is the average price per litre for petrol/gasoline in The Netherlands?
I only found out about these cars last weekend and this video was really interesting seeing i was wondering if these cars where really fast and nordschleife record lapping car i kinda want to drive one to set my own kinda laps where in the Netherlands is the factory?
Panda #44 Donkervoort Automobielen B.V.

Reminds me of the IFR which has a marble of a drivetrain.
Are you partly Dutch by any chance? Since you said ‘zal ik zeker doen’ I couldn’t help but notice a slight Dutch accent
I always thought that I could find a few Dutch accents in your English. I thought you're South African. But it seems like you speak Dutch. 🇳🇱 Nice content btw.
they should make an updated S7 - that would sell well.
Great vid
Very impressive that they've managed to produce so many models and never once employed a designer...
;)
I love it.
the best from holland, drew you are dutch right !?
Carfection a geweldig !!!!
they made the donkerfort in tienhoven my village!
they need to make a ariel nomad competitor, add some offroad shocks to it:DD
So envious of the British and Europeans getting to drive these.
Conan Magruder They are stupid expensive.
Fair enough. I'm pretty sure I could get an Atom way cheaper and get essentially similar amounts of fun but they sure are cool.
Handmade cars such as donkervoorts are the real-petrol heads' dream. Ferrari/porsche and Co are for football players and Rockstars
I love this brand! I’d love to own one but I think they’re not street legal in USA
But you CAN buy a Spyker. Also Dutch, also Audi engines. Trades some speed for style points though. ;)
no, in the states they are not street legal
Lex Buren The early ones weren't, but they have a specially modified version to sell in the US (depending on the state probably).
@@ralphmanders3699 i have good news. Donkervoort is introducing the Donkervoort F22 to the united states. Might wanna look into it.
Spyker up next? Please
Somehow the roads around the factory have a lot of elevens on them.
Be interesting to see an electric one
I want one!
I'm dutch, but never heard that saying in my life.
never knew the netherlands still made cars after spyker closed
Very nice but too expensive. You could buy two Ariel Atoms for that price...
Lungu Gabriel Can't compare those, the Ariels look shit tbh
What track is that? Can I drive there?
It's also the Dutch police training track
What is this extreme car in Holland? I don't know of any Dutch car manufacturers in Holland.
I'm sorry, but Harry's Garage is the biz! You guys prob even agree.
Imagine a Donkervoort with a meaty V8
Tushar Kelshikar I'm sure the rs is more than enough for us mere mortals.
I'm not even half as talented as Henry behind the wheel. So, I totally agree with that. However, IMO the 4.2-litre V8 from the Audi RS4 Gen-2 would suit this car perfectly.
Thats a very tall, long stroke v8 so may not be suitable
Not really sure it would make the car more exciting to be honest.
Think a v8 (with his weight) wouldn't make it better
Donkervoort, making Spyker look like a bunch of rich-kid wallies.
OMG that D8 RS is SEXY!!!
icezydrift The new D8 GTO-40 is sexy.
*insert rain*
Again two watches?
I'd probably have more fun in a slower Caterham model. These things are too much for most roads, haha.
9:13 by the mid what? Northies?
Carfection
Didn't know that, I imagined the meaning but new term to me, thanks
Noughties.
Why are you wearing 2 watches?
Carfection touche
Carfection It's an odd look. I love watches but I'd never wear more than one at a time. I'm not trying to have a conspicuous appearance.
beautiful all around EXCEPT... the front
That's not a huge problem. When you're driving the only side you're likely to see is the rear anyway ;)
I find donkervoort to be a rather... determined company
because they are, they are always chasing after ' perfect as possible ' and ' less is more ' should go to an open day of Donkervoort, then you can drive all their cars on the track, :)
Lex Buren Fun fact I love Donkervoorts, its basically hollands Lotus only more successful engine and chassis AND body wise
Donkervoort styling is a victory for function over aesthetics. Even if dressed in Victoria's Secret lingerie, serious potential buyers, despite five Martinis, shaken, not stirred, would baulk at its ugliness.
Where do you come from?

Great video guys! Any chance we can get this for Ariel or BAC?
are you irish or canadian?
asking for a friend
Please make a documentary on Caterham!
