Hi Steve, i found your channel recently. Your driving tips have me hitting drives high & straight. Im now hooked to your videos hoping to gain better ball striking and longer distance with all my clubs 😂
Thank you Steve. You described me perfectly. Im 71. I’m the 190-200 yard hitter with the driver off the tee with a good hit. I’m straight and score consistently in the low 80’s; very occasionally, a 78-79. I have a story. At my course there is a small creek that is 190 yards out on 2 par 5s. If that creek wasn’t there my tee ball would roll past that creek and I’d have a fair chance to get a par. BUT because I can’t get past that creek, I have to lay up with a 5 wood. Then hit another good 5 wood (sometimes twice, because it’s uphill) into the green! I often will miss those greens because of the long approach; so I have to get up and down to make a par. Sooo frustrating. I have friends I play with, who hit from the tee one further back, who consistently carry that creek. I would be scoring 2-3 strokes better all the time if I didn’t have to lay up on those two holes! Your tips could really help me. I am excited to explore this and work on it AND I WILL! Thanks again.
I can attest to the frustration of short hitting. I quit golf years ago due to my 140 yard drives. There are a number of holes on most courses where even the short tees are too far from the fairway to reach the short grass unless you can consistently hit 180 or so. You instruction will help many people keep playing the game.
This video is great! Finally I found a guy that hits the drive like me at 14O yards, to the point I was almost selling my drive, I will start immediately to follow Steve hints. @williamklein6749 are you improving your distance now?
I go back in the golf about 6 months ago and this is exactly where I'm at. Despondent is the word I'm using right now. 80-year-olds are playing better than me. Doesn't make sense. Thank you.
Great Tip. Headed to the range first thing tomorrow to slowly work on throwing the club much further out and away while extending my right hand and elbow to God. Also, ringing the bell on the follow thru. Thanks.
Used your tip on keeping arm extension away from the body today. Hit some of the best drives I've hit in a long time. Many thanks for the easy to understand and implement tips.
Great drill. It uses a principle that Paul Bertholy advocated where you freeze at the position you want in the follow through as a way to engrain it into the neuromuscular system. "This is where I want to be," and then trust the system to get you there.
Steve - I am 72 but still in pretty good shape. I used to be near scratch but I think I have just gotten lazy and started doing all 3 of these things, which I know is wrong, I am one of those who have a ONE in front of my driver distance and I feel embarrassed to even play with my guys. I realize, thanks to your video, these are the things I have to work on and get back to doing well. Thanks so much for your vids.
Great model for continuity through all the aspects of the golf swing and good teach to start slow and build speed up in increments to comfortably grasp the feel of the mechanic and proper flow of and throughout the swing very helpful thank you thank you thank you 😊
Thanks for another excellent video Steve. The first point is what I am not doing so will go to the range and try this out. Does the throwing motion also apply to irons?
Golden! In my humble opinion, millions of golfers have been ruined by being instructed to remove the hands and arms from their swing and focus solely on using their body. This is completely absurd! Ty
I can't seem to carry a drive 200 yards .....I know I am strong enough, as I workout and lift regularly at the gym , but just can't understand what I am doing wrong .....I am going to give all 3 key points a try...... thank you sir for posting this video.....
80 % of your distance is from where you hit the ball on the club face. The center of the club face or the sweet spot will maximize your distance. The rest is club head speed. If you have trouble with club head speed 9/10 you are casting you club. Need to create proper lag. Proper lag feels a lot more effortless. I recommend compacting you swing and focus on great contact. Me personally, I have done this and I on average drive it 240/250 carry plus roll out on what feels like a half to three quarter swing. If I really go after one and square it up I hit it like 290 but i lose a ton of control or accuracy. So sweet spot and proper lag/set up👍
Excellent. I am pretty long but sometimes I am much longer. When I do this it feels as if the club head takes a shortcut. Could this be because I throw the club head earlier?
Hi- I find your instructions helpful, I notice Your front foot moves quote a bit heel backwards, don’t recall you saying much about it. Can you elaborate?
All I know is that nothing works. If I try to increase my club head speed I heel the shot or top it. If I slow down my swing I get good contact on my drive goes 150 yards. Everyone's got tips, everyone tells me not to make mistakes and that just makes things worse. It's not that hard to put one object up against another object and make connection but my tee box anxiety is ruining everything. Thank you for your video though. I'm sure it helps.
I can feel your frustration. You might try practicing fast, but then swinging smooth on the tee. Let speed sneak up on you. Check fundamentals that lead to distance.
@@Inmotion70 thank you though I don't know what fundamentals will increase the distance. If I slow my back swing down and try to accelerate past the ball I still can't hit it properly. No worries.
I am a older gentleman and I appreciate a lot the THROW motion , more than the Pull motion that is more for young golfer. Thanks a lot for your reply!@@Inmotion70
Very interesting. But contrary to you recommends the famous Pete Cowen to pull down the arms in the downswing, then turn around from the delivery position.
If there was an electromyograph attached to my lats you would see 'pull down' force for sure. And the turn of the body causes a 'pull' force on the handle too. However, our goal is to reduce (feels like eliminate) any pulling feeling and his advice to 'pull down the arms' is absolutely disastrous for most amateur golfers.
I sorry I left your channel, I was a non believer and truly must say that your method is the easiest to manufacture, no pain to the old body and boy does the ball fly . . I am sorry I ever doubted you . . Mr Steve Pratt, god bless.
Great lesson. I never saw much addressee the left arn.

Hell yes let's get you over that creek! :) Great golf btw.

Great video Steve. Thanks for bringing us some great content.
Great video that explains the driver swing. I’ve started doing g this and it really works!

Very refreshing, useable tips. Thanks.

Nice work!
Good stuff Steve! Excellent advice as usual...

I’ve just hit the ball better than I have in ages, you’ve got me excited about Golf again. Thank you.
Terrific!
Great video Steve.I find that when I take all tension out of the swing my drives are beautiful.Thank You.
You singlehandedly changed my drive game! The video you done about the "hip bump" fixed my slice and improve my distance instantly! Thanks man!
What is the name of the "hip bump" Video? If you don't mind me asking.
Nice lesson, thanks a nice eye opener.
Im gunna try! Good vid, easy to understand and not a lot of fluff talk.
Thats helps a lot!! Thanks

Very helpful. Thankyou!
These drills added 10-15 yds to my drive. I know there’s more there, just need to keep working on it. Thanks !

Boy do I need help with this!
Fantastic explanation

It's impossible as well.
@@Inmotion70 agree! Yet, it remains rampant!

First get your clubhead speed accurately checked, and let me know what model and loft driver you're using.

Enjoy your videos but I need loads of work. Went to the range today and totally sucked. Do you have a "grip" video?
Hi- I find your instructions helpful, I notice
Your front foot moves quote a bit heel backwards, don’t recall you saying much about it. Can you elaborate?
Many golf instructors talk about using ground forces to gain more power. Do you cover this in your videos?
I have in a few videos.
Where in the swing do you start to turn club over.

What driver is tbat? You told me once before but I forgot. 😊
Awesomw
The" Throw dont Pull" that I see at 1O:45 is it valid also for a 7 iron or a 5 wood? Thanks
Yes especially if you hit a weak slice.
I am a older gentleman and I appreciate a lot the THROW motion , more than the Pull motion that is more for young golfer. Thanks a lot for your reply!@@Inmotion70
Steve, how far did your drive go in this video? trying to get a sense of expectations for how this approach should work.
290. Very soft swing of around 103 with great stats.
Could that pulling effect cause the ball to hook?
Only if you don't pivot and turn enough or you have a bad hand path.
Very interesting. But contrary to you recommends the famous Pete Cowen to pull down the arms in the downswing, then turn around from the delivery position.

Thank you for this interesting answer. I prefer the throwing move.
For setting up to throw the club do you want to set the wrists early as you start the backswing like Mike Austin’s method?
I make a motion like in skipping a stone or throwing a medicine ball. Quite naturally.
How do you stop trying to kill the ball every time?
Ooh that's a good topic for a video.
Do you feel like you are throwing the club with your right hand?
It seems like your l arm is folding later in this swing
A perfect example would be Lorena Ochoa. She would literally go back any forward with her follow through
??????????
It’s simple: hit the ball harder..
I sorry I left your channel, I was a non believer and truly must say that your method is the easiest to manufacture, no pain to the old body and boy does the ball fly . . I am sorry I ever doubted you . . Mr Steve Pratt, god bless.
Welcome back!
This is me, painful.
Pulling down is not easy to get rid of. It's that caveman mentality starting down.
