Thank you for the drive. I’m using it to reacquaint myself to driving in Australia again. I’m returning to Canberra after away for 25 years. Retiring from work in April 2025 and the whole family is looking forward to the move back to Canberra, from California. I will also suggest the video to my wife as she’s never driven in Australia. Thanks
Welcome back! I lived in Canberra for 14 years, but moved overseas about 7 years ago. Loved my time there. I came back to Australia a couple of years ago and moved to Perth, but I am looking to possibly come back to Canberra in the near future.
Hi bud. Wow. So this is Canberra. 😊 Pretty nice actually. One thing I noticed is that there's almost no electricity wires from post to post/buildings. (aside from the ones for by trams at the start), it quite neat isn't it? Interesting roads too. I can feel wider space as we drive. Not much motorist too. (as compared to Melb). 4:20 I am not sure if those are trees or just tall plants, but I find it so beautiful to look at. 💕 Thanks mate. I appreciate the drive tour. Safe Travels! 😎
Canberra is a small capital city. I don’t think I would live there if I don’t have to 🤪 I am pretty sure those trees are kind of spruces. Thanks for watching 😄🙏
Those trees are Cupressus sempiviren, Mediterranean cypress/pencil pines. Canberra is aiming to be more liveable, but I think it does technically win over Melbourne, because there is a lot of spread in Melbourne -- when they do the rankings (for big cities), they don't count suburbs, which inflates cities with more sprawl -- so Vienna is technically a winner.
In days gone by all the roundabouts in Canberra meant that if you weren’t a local you would quickly become disoriented and then lost. Fortunately these days visitors have satnav systems. But you can sense in this video how quickly you could become lost without it.
Corner at 7.08. I rode thru that intersection hundreds of time on my bicycle going from Russell to Weston Creek (24 klms) I would ride if the temp was above -2deg c. Moved to coast three years ago but Canberra was a great place to raise my four boys

You know when you are in Canberra (ACT Australian Capital Territory) when you see (in the first minute +) the vehicle in front has a DC Number Plate -> The Diplomatic Corps of some country outside Australia.. -> funfact In the early days of The ACT (1940's), diplomatic drivers used to park in illegal zones. Why? Because they were (& prob still are) Indemnified from Prosecution. HOWEVER. The locals got revenge by parking within half an inch in front and back in old disposable cars. That fixed the problem.
This road going nowhere ,I lived in a city in Ukraine of 450K and a main street of 3kilameters ,and most of the city was a 10 minite drive ,canberra is not people friendly

@@roamingNwatching alright, as you say 😁 it's pretty clear that Melbourne is Stiiiillllllll,, the undisputed liveable city 😅

@@betula2137 They also tend to only include cities with 1 million plus population in the rankings which is why Canberra isn't included in the results.
Woww, amazing and beautiful road.. In 2025, Insya Allah I'll make it happend to come here. For studying and working as an AI professional ❤

You show one of the most dangerous things on Canberra roads, a DC car (the white Audi you follow is a diplomatic car).
Really? I didn't notice that :)

Good to know, very interesting:) Thanks!
It is a goast town ,there was no people ,where is the main street with shops and people ,
Because it is CANBERRA
@@roamingNwatching what does that mean
The route is on the main roads. All the shops are off the main roads in separate areas.
This road going nowhere ,I lived in a city in Ukraine of 450K and a main street of 3kilameters ,and most of the city was a 10 minite drive ,canberra is not people friendly
Forming your opinion based on one video of the roads is very stupid.
Actually watch your channel to escape Canberra.....😋😋😋.....back to the real country towns! 🤣
Thanks for watching mate! Have a wonderful weekend!
Playing spot the cyclist. The count for the first 10 kilometres is zero so far.
What a shame!😂
