You could do it. You’d need to get the plug-in adaptor and get the wire into the apartment. I’m not sure you are good with mounting something outside an apartment. You can buy a chime for it or just use your phone.
Closing on my new house later today and I’m still up watching Ring Doorbell videos. I think this might be the one! Cost efficient but still getting all current features. Doorbell voltage already checks out.. so this is the one! Going to pick this up from my local Best Buy after closing!! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Got one of these along with a complete Ring alarm system. Pay the $10/mo for the monitoring and you've automatically got the cloud storage. The 2.4ghz network limitation hasn't been an issue for me as I already had good coverage in my house with the eero mesh system. 2.4ghz has better range anyway so I can see why Ring created a version of the wired doorbell without 5ghz support. With a decent porch light, I get 1080p video night and day. Just an all-around great choice for the money.
Loved it. I bought it with your link and it was 41.99. I never would have figured out how to pop out the front. I would have destroyed it first...LOL. Thank you. I wasn't bored and usually I get very bored very quickly with these videos. Great job!!! Now I have to put up crown moulding. I bought gorgeous wood moulding for next to nothing. I can always use a class on mitring. Is there a way to upload pics? I would love to show you what I purchased from this estate sale. It's about 6k in moulding for 300.00.
Pairing it with Alexa allows you to use Alexa as your chime and will tell you someone is approaching your door and with alerts on your phone you can be in the backyard or deep in your basement and know when someone is at the door, perfect for older people. Oh, the Blue Dots seen on the zone setting can be slid around to make a very very custom alert zone.
Good video, just thinking of getting the wired but, my dilemma is that when your facing the door the bell is to the left, just wondering how it would pick up people
So it mounts the same way as the rest of the Ring Doorbells? I have an issue with the doorbell making contact with the contact plates and recognizing that it’s wired.
I’m currently installing the Ring system piece by piece. I’m leery of a camera inside the house concerning privacy issues and the camera being on constantly. Can a camera be “off” and only activated when I get an alert of movement? I’m also installing one of these doorbells in the front. Thanks.
Just received mine but I don’t have a ring bell so I need to buy a plug in adapter . I’m curious if the plug in adapter for ring video doorbell pro (1st generation) will work on this ring doorbell wired .
THERMAL PROTECTED 5 VA 10 V NUTONE SCOVILLe 515-N These are the specs on my doorbell transformer. Would it be compatible? It is an older model, probably from the 1980’s.
Just don’t let the two wires touch. 😃 I’ve installed them before without breaker off. I know that’s bad advice but it is an option if you’re very careful.
No. It won’t work with your chime in your house but it’ll ring your phone and any other phone connected with the app. You can also have it ring Amazon echos.

Im confused. My battery powered ring that is hardwired dies. If the hardwire is not enough power then how does this thing stay working for months with no battery?
I’m not sure if wiring up your battery ring doorbell charges the battery. Depends on model I’m sure. This does not have a battery and the 16-24 VAC from the doorbell wires power it.
@@DIYReid but that’s what I’m getting at. My battery dies because the 16-24 isn’t enough to get the job done. I don’t even record very much. So if it has to tap into the battery and this one doesn’t have a battery then how does it staying working
@@DIYReid but it has power. Just like a cell phone with battery that is plugged in. You could use a plugged in cell one for a long time without the battery dieing. Just find it hard to believe this 60 dollar ring would always be powered with no battery back up.
@@DIYReid Existing house doorbell chime. I don't want just the phone to ring and I don't want to buy Ring's plugin speaker thing. It's unclear how many of these devices will ring your existing chime, even when I talk to Ring tech support, sigh.
@@DIYReid Some people have said they didn't add the jumper, and their existing chime still works with this model. I don't know why Ring makes this so difficult. Even their tech support doesn't fully know the answer.

Good video, just thinking of getting the wired but, my dilemma is that when your facing the door the bell is to the left, just wondering how it would pick up people
You need a 90° wedge
My simple question is
Does door bell unit work on 10-24 volts
AC or DC
Just bought it for my rents. Hopefully it will look good 👌
Which one would I have to buy to work with my door chime?
So it mounts the same way as the rest of the Ring Doorbells? I have an issue with the doorbell making contact with the contact plates and recognizing that it’s wired.
This one you screw the wires to the mounting points. There contact making like what I’m thinking you’re talking about.

Is motion zones a premium feature that needs a subscription? I’d love to know all the features you lose once the free trail ends
