I really wish you guys would mix a couple songs briefly on the equipment you review so we can see how it sounds and functions. You can talk about it all day but...
Wow! Joey was right!! I slept on this review! This controller/mixer is a beast! You can do I lot with it ANYWHERE!!! True, I don't like the pitch faders but it's dvs ready so you could use a real turntable or cdj for better tempo faders! Great review!!!!
Is there 'CD-Mode' functions on Rekordbox DJ or I'd be happy with doing a 1/8th loop if theres a Jog Wheel Loop Move function? I'd looked at the Rekordbox DJ and there seems to be no mapping options at all so the Serato DJ 'SR' option looks way better!
Are the jog wheels really a bit bigger than the ones on the SR ? Is this the same from the RX too, meaning that the RX jog wheels are "slightly larger" the the one on the SX ???
Hi. I would like an advice about equipment in going to buy. I can spend 700 bucks max. This is the controller that I like most for now cuz it' pioneer and I guess the build quality and the sound is great. But actually I don' think I need players. I could use the pc to add tracks , maybe I can spend the same money just for a good mixer, with better quality with all the functions on rr cuz I want to use it to make smooth sets. What can you recommend. Thanks !
I have a question. Can you take it of vinyl mode? And if you can, when you press pause does it stutter? Like where the beat repeats itself so you can move the jog wheel to cue the very beginning of that sound or beat?
Rekordbox has changed a lot in the last few months, give it a try... I personally find it better than Serato, especially since it's a relatively new DJ platform...
They're both good, but here are our full reviews of each for reference: DDJ-RR - www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rr-rekordbox-dj-controller/ DDJ-RX - www.digitaldjtips.com/2015/11/review-video-pioneer-ddj-rx-rekordbox-dj-controller/
Sorry to hear that Tyler! I'd suggest trying to get help direct from the company - here's a link to a page where we list all the main forums and support sites: www.digitaldjtips.com/3rd-party-support/ Good luck!
I'm guessing it works with the mixer alone as it can be used as a stand alone mixer, you could actually attach 2 turntables to this and just use the mixer,I checked the mic out on this and it recorded the mic on rekord box, serato can't record the mic with there own recording function
I had one controller that worked only usb and that made it work via the soundcard only. But having AC plug and lines in maybe it works . but not totally sure. You don't own one to try this out? Or any ideas to where I can ask this thanks alot anyway jl
Yes my computer is completely shut down, ddjrr turned on and I'm talking through the mic out my speakers ,level meters going up and down ,mixer section acting completely alone.
Hey Arjun, here's our full thoughts on both: DDJ-RB - www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rb-rekordbox-dj-controller/ DDJ-RR - www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rr-rekordbox-dj-controller/ Overall, if you're not worried about budget, we'd say go for the RR :)
Digital DJ Tips Thanks alot dude! love your videos! try ending videos with short sets and using all the features, that might help us analyze the controller better..
Unfortunately no, it's exclusively designed for Rekordbox DJ. You'll want to consider something like the DDJ-SR instead: www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/05/review-video-pioneer-ddj-sr-serato-dj-controller/
Keyboard is something for Rekordbox DJ, not Serato. In Serato, it's called "Pitch Play" and you do it by holding down the Shift button and pressing Sampler :)
Believe it or not, I have tried it with Traktor yesterday, most of the basic things seem to be working, including the jogs. My Traktor still has the settings for DDJ Ergo, so apparently when it comes to MIDI mappings, not so much changed. I'm still waiting though for a fully compatible mapping, including the pads.
IMPORTANT: The DDJ-RR EQ&Filters are just Midi-Knobs; so there not working without routing your external sources through Rekordbox! If you use the RR-Mixersection as a standalone (without Rekordbox): the EQ&Filters are useless!

Thanks so much and you're very welcome! :-)
Great review! I'll buy this controller
Awesome! Let us know what you think :)
And i'll buy him a razor.
Great reviews brother.
I want to know if this is still a good buy in 2020 or should i consider something newer?
Hey, check out our annually updated gear guide: djtips.co/join :)
Thank you

I want to see more on the sequence functionality on this

Hi! We recommend checking out our free gear guide to help you make a decision, you can grab it here: djtips.co/2018-gear-guide
Hey.... is the Ddj-RR and the Ddj-SR the same size???..... do they have the same dimensions?.
I have a question. Can you take it of vinyl mode? And if you can, when you press pause does it stutter? Like where the beat repeats itself so you can move the jog wheel to cue the very beginning of that sound or beat?
Yes you can take it off vinyl mode, no there is no stutter
@@digitaldjtips thanks so much for the reply!
I like the extra features this has compared to the original sr. I just am not a fan of the price, it shouldn't be that much
hey can you suggest me the best traktor controller from pioneer ryt now in the market......even through mapping!
Please make some review for Ddj RB...😉
Here you go: www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rb-rekordbox-dj-controller/
Looking Good o
Could you use this controller with a Denon DS1 or Rane SL Serato audio interface or Traktor Scratch A6 and midi map to suit Serato or Traktor?
So is this basically a 2-channel version of the RX? Would I be missing out on any other functionality if I got the RR and not the RX
i wander if serato sj can be use with this controller do you do you have any idea?
M-STYLE HAYNES
No, it only works with Rekordbox
SHIT WELL I CAN'T PURCHASE IT. I AM A SERATO DJ. I HAVE USED RECORD BOX BEFORE N DIDN'T LIKE IT
Rekordbox has changed a lot in the last few months, give it a try... I personally find it better than Serato, especially since it's a relatively new DJ platform...
Could 3 speakers plug into the master out 1 (xlr), master out 2 (rca), channel 1 (rca) and channel 2 (rca)?
I respect everyone's opinion, and i love to see this unit. But i don't like record box and if i can use serato dj with it i will buy 6 of them
ok sir Joey Santos
Do the On Jog indicators show a track rotation or positioning eg like a RX or like a Hercules Jogvision please?
No, just a centre LED light for displaying what deck you're controlling
Hello ... So i am a beginer and i dont know wich ddj to buy... RR or RX?
If i buy the ddj rr .... I am afraid that i will regret that i dident took the RX
They're both good, but here are our full reviews of each for reference: DDJ-RR - www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rr-rekordbox-dj-controller/
DDJ-RX - www.digitaldjtips.com/2015/11/review-video-pioneer-ddj-rx-rekordbox-dj-controller/
You sell it, and buy the RX :D
Does this controller fit in a large backpack?
I imagine it would - check out Magma and UDG bags for specific sizes :)
Damn I just got the SR..... LOL... Does the RR has the same footprint as the SR...? RR looks just a bit larger
I have a ddj sr, its the same size
It's a bit bigger
i have a chromebook14. will it work on this device
Does it come with full features on its software?
Rekordbox has changed significantly recently, check the website for details on what this unlocks
Can you still use this controller with serato?
Unfortunately no, the DDJ-R series is exclusively used with Rekordbox DJ
please give me a diferrents between SX and RR pls?!
Hey Leon, S-series controllers work with Serato DJ and Rekordbox DJ software, whereas R-series controllers are dedicated to Rekordbox DJ exclusively
I cant get my cross fader or channel faders to work. the cross fader kinda works if I hold the shift button but still not really
Sorry to hear that Tyler! I'd suggest trying to get help direct from the company - here's a link to a page where we list all the main forums and support sites: www.digitaldjtips.com/3rd-party-support/ Good luck!
Mix something with DDJ RR and tell us how it performs
Does the mic work with the mixer alone or does it has to pass through the audio card of a computer or such?
thanks
I'm guessing it works with the mixer alone as it can be used as a stand alone mixer, you could actually attach 2 turntables to this and just use the mixer,I checked the mic out on this and it recorded the mic on rekord box, serato can't record the mic with there own recording function
could be wrong tho tbh because the mic jack isn't positioned on the mixer but above the deck on the top left back
I had one controller that worked only usb and that made it work via the soundcard only. But having AC plug and lines in maybe it works . but not totally sure. You don't own one to try this out? Or any ideas to where I can ask this
thanks alot anyway
jl
I own a ddjrr I'll have a look
Yes my computer is completely shut down, ddjrr turned on and I'm talking through the mic out my speakers ,level meters going up and down ,mixer section acting completely alone.
Does it still work with serato and traktor
The DDJ-R series only works with Rekordbox DJ
No... natively supported by VirtualDJ as well. You can check on www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ8%20Controllers.html
Is the RR better or the RB according to you?
Hey Arjun, here's our full thoughts on both:
DDJ-RB - www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rb-rekordbox-dj-controller/
DDJ-RR - www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rr-rekordbox-dj-controller/

Digital DJ Tips Thanks alot dude! love your videos! try ending videos with short sets and using all the features, that might help us analyze the controller better..
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions :-)
Can you hear 4 decks simultaneously or is it limited to only 2 audible decks at a time?
You can use all 4 decks but it can get really confusing
Nice...by chance would you know if the crossfader is soldered in or is it even replaceable?
No, you can't mix 4 decks simultaneously and the crossfader isnt't replaceable!
can the RR work with serato
Unfortunately no, it's exclusively designed for Rekordbox DJ. You'll want to consider something like the DDJ-SR instead: www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/05/review-video-pioneer-ddj-sr-serato-dj-controller/
ddj RB please !!!
DDJ-RB Review: www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rb-rekordbox-dj-controller/
So how do I turn the pad fx into 8 different note keyboard like the key shift SR2 ?
Keyboard is something for Rekordbox DJ, not Serato. In Serato, it's called "Pitch Play" and you do it by holding down the Shift button and pressing Sampler :)
can you use it with traktor??
No, the DDJ-R series are meant for Rekordbox DJ :)

Interesting! Well, good to know :)
Hi, can someone give me the price for this?
Well, thanks ^^

If you use the RR-Mixersection as a standalone (without Rekordbox): the EQ&Filters are useless!
Thanks Andreas!
Will KRK's work with ddj rb?
They should with RCA cable
hurcles dj glow...
Please 😊
2:33 is that an editing mistake?
Probably! Nicely spotted :)
your Welcome :)
Where is the colour effects? Help!
This controller doesn't have the color effects on the unit.
DDJ -RR vs DDJ SR??
Both good - do you want a dedicated Rekordbox DJ controller (RR) or one that works with both Serato DJ and Rekordbox DJ (SR)?
I want to have a controller which can work on both platforms (serato and rekordbox).
Then go for the SR, here's our full review: www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/05/review-video-pioneer-ddj-sr-serato-dj-controller/
