i love marin and gojo so much 🥰 at the beginning, I’m definitely a lil hesitant about this but I continued on after this and ep 3 and am excited to share the rest of the 12 episodes up over the coming weeks ☺️
No Spoilers: There are only a handful of scenes in this season where things feel as tense as they did in this episode. If you made it through episode 2, then I think you'll do fine with the others and will really enjoy the rest of the series.

Thanks for doing this! The story and characters are fantastic, look forward to you watching the rest, the humor and story/characters are so well done. I think they are trying to portray how uncomfortable Gojo is (obviously) but at the same time how innately comfortable Marin is - it's also obvious but less so because Gojo is so upfront.

Definitely one of those anime episodes that you have to watch alone. 😂😂
Here's some fun background info: According to the mangaka, Gojo is written as her teenage self's dream guy; utterly smitten by her, respectful of and willing to engage with her hobbies, and incredibly fun to tease. Also, apparently Marin is very intentionally written as autistic-coded!

Marin is more supposed to be based on Japanese "Gyaru" archetype, aka., girls who don't normally follow the Japanese social norms especially when it comes to clothing and personality, and are more outspoken and open with their feelings and wants (unlike being meek and conservative, which is expected of a traditional japanese girl).
thats the most risky episode there is little bits every so often but nothing as full on as this episode
Disagree. There's two scenes and one episode which are more intense than this was.

The reason Marin went red when Gojo measured her inseam is because his finger accidentally touched her... crotch and he didn't notice

FINALLY!! Someone who actually Noticed!!! Everyone keeps saying it’s her being embarrassed due to realization of what she’s doing, but that Face she made said it all 😏😏
Bumping her button broke her out of her mental zone and she realized, at that moment, the effect she had been having on him. But, it was too late to rewind, and she could only follow his lead that nothing was wrong. Roles reversed at that moment.

As someone who was a socially awkward teenage boy. Yes that is exactly how I would have reacted. Still kinda socially awkward and I’m 24.
I am shocked by how many ppl dont know what happened with her. He was near her lower lady parts. She seems very casual with her boobs but that doesnt mean that she is totally comfortable with her entire body. This is a very common point to get confused on so I am not trying to be rude or mean at all. But it should be pretty clear to most ppl what made her feel embarrassed.
although the funservice doesn't go away that is where they had it the most in my opinion
If you’re uncomfortable in this episode, then the anime did a great job because you’re supposed to feel just as uncomfortable as Gojo. You’re not seeing shots only for the viewers sake. You’re seeing exactly what HE is seeing and how he’s seeing it. Everything served it’s purpose perfectly.

He touched her in a particular area while taking measurements. He didn't realise.
I haven't seen any comments anywhere on this. Consider Marins comfort level right up until the end. Make a note to think back on this when you eventually find out how she makes her money and it will put a completely different light on her casual fan service if you know what is involved in her job.
I think calling this episode fan service entirely misses the point of the episode. Aside from some unnecessary jiggle physics, there isn't anything inherently sexual about Marin being in a swimsuit and getting her measurements taken, and Gojo coming to that realization and learning to act accordingly is what this episode is about. It also shows Marin being confident and comfortable in her own skin. When Gojo asked her if she was embarrassed at all, she was like, "Nope. Why should I be?"
Because she isn't doing anything to be embarrassed about. She's just standing there existing. Any sexualization of Marin is on the viewer.
Until she does become embarrassed. And is that going to be your same argument in the bathroom and hotel scenes?
@@jamespryor5967 I agree with you about the bathroom scene. Both of them (Juju's and later Marin's) are just straight up fan service that have no plot relavence. The hotel scene I'd argue isn't even fan service.
@@jamespryor5967 "Until she does become embarrassed." She only gets embarrassed in this scene because Gojou accidentally brushes his finger against her lady bits. At no point during the actual measuring process does any of it bother her.
I don’t think the episode really addresses that so I don’t think it misses the point of the episode, but I agree that the sexualisation is on the viewer! It can’t be denied that this is what most people would consider fan service though with the close up shots/jiggle etc
I'm not sure what you mean by the episode doesn't address this. Gojo flat out says that it is wrong to have any indecent thoughts when he's supposed to be helping her, slaps himself in the face quite hard to focus himself, and calls himself pathetic for getting flustered.
The fan service and ecchi-ness of episode 2 is the height of that part, its so much less the rest of the season

I totally understand thinking underage fan service is weird. The target demographic is teenage boys so its totally fine for them but other ppl will watch the show. At the end of the day, the way I see it is that it is cartoon fictional characters. It's much better than what Hollywood and the music industry does to actual humans. Ppl cheer on sexuality in media if it can be even loosely related to feminism and they completely ignore it if it is in rap. The ppl being sexualized ARE being taken advantaged of. What percentage would agree to be sexualized if they had the same fame and money if they didnt have to be sexualized? Cartoons are fake. It's basically as harmless as it gets.
Unless you are the type to think that violent video games make ppl commit violent acts in real life. That is an absurd 90's/00's fundamentalist christian view on media, that is not born out by the science.
i'm not entirely sure fanservice is a useful word in discussing this show or manga for the most part. i feel it's more suited to describing things like panty shots and other unnecessary sexualization of female characters in stuff like shonen battle anime (especially things aimed at younger viewers)
but this is an ecchi anime/manga. it may be lighter or not as intensely explicit as some others, and is still heartwarming and wholesome in many ways, but it is an intentionally horny work about a girl playing dress-up. the term fanservice diminishes the artistry and intention behind this anime/manga, flattening it into a dichotomy of "appropriate vs. inappropriate" that doesn't feel entirely appropriate to the work
It's fanservice. Some people consider that a bad word and some don't, but that doesn't change what this is. You can service the fans while servicing the story and characters as well, it's all about what you want from your work.
