I've had one of these for over a year - I use the heatgun between 400 -450 while its heating up I wave it around the area I am going to solder to warm it up a bit until it gets up to temp
I’ve been looking at those lately and that one looks to be pretty good for the price. I only do the odd repair so it seems ideal 🙂 cheers for putting this vid up mate 👍
I'm always on the fence when it comes to getting things like this. Or a desoldering station. I don't do enough to make it worth while, but when I need it, I really need it. Good to see you got something worth having. You'll make good use of it most likely.
Yeah I 100% know where you are, these have sat in my watch list for so long and the more I'm doing the more I think I needed it. The old kit was great and got me to a certain level, but working on a Mc Will at the moment and this is a step up in kit for things like this. It does depend on how much you are going to use it and how much you value £70, for me it was a decent decision and I think having the kit will pay for itself in the end. Cheers for watching, I will do some videos using it soon so keep an eye out for them.
Cheers Marcus, yeah I have to get on with this Mc Will Game Gear install so will be good to put it to a real test. Keep me posted on how you get on with the kit I sent you, I'm sure you will be upgrading in the future, although some of those items like the multimeter are same as what I use.
I have one of these units, The solder iron doesn't get as hot as indicated on the lcd - very basic soldering iron, my cheap hobbies soldering iron gets hotter - POOR! - but other than that its worth the money
yes you are right i have the "yihua 8786D i" which is the same as this one. The iron is crap but after modification it works like a charm. i upgraded to ceramic heater and fill the space between the tip and the heater with a copper 0.2 thin now it works properly
@@zombieryder Hi a question there, are you using copper shim metal sheet formed into a cylinder to insert into tip and then put tip onto ceramic heater? Or if not, could you elaborate on what you did to get copper in?
Hi, I've seen a set of instructions that say hold down both up and down heat buttons at same time, until you get a flashing dot on display then use buttons to correct the calibration up or down, the only issue I can see with that is you need a reference to work from ie IR temp gun

I see a lot of negative comments on these, but I still use mine and it's great for what I do.

Glad it was helpful Lee. It's a good system so far. Will see how it performs on the next few projects.
Cheers for watching and glad it helped.

@@GoodwinsPlace is this still working good ?
@@MrHackerDude1 yeah, I've not checked the temperature on the iron to see how accurate it is. But it is still going well and use it fairly regularly.
That looks like a bewty bit if kit 👍
You'll have to do an update after you've used it for a while.

Cool video. Enjoyed it.
Thanks. Hope it helped.
@@GoodwinsPlace it sure did.
Don't worry Mate every one start form 0 :}
Yep, left it far to long before buying this. Not going to upgrade for a while as this is doing everything I need for now.

That's interesting. I've used mine a lot and it's still working great.
What tips are you using?
