That was a great explanation Rich. I know a lot of guys try to over complicate the reset process

Wow that thing was running super rich there initially. You can hear it and see it, that was a real smoke show 😅 I think you're right, that thing hadn't been run properly WOT and and accumulated a lot of excess oil that we could see being burned off

Sounds like a small amount of Sea Foam would clean the fuel & exhaust system!🤩🤩🤩🤩

Start. Let idle for 3 mins. Get a long log and put tip of bar about 2" deep at full throttle for about 6 foot cut. Let idle again. Fixed.

Don't overlook the 545 mk2...it's an excellent saw and a lot of people overlook it due to the 550xp. I've run both and I slightly prefer the 545...it seems like it's a little less of a screamer on the high end but it's timed more for torque. Very powerful saw with a lot of torque for 50cc. My favorite saw...like it even more than my 572xp

I have an opportunity to get an used 572 XP, from 2019, for a really great price, but the current owner says it has restarting issues when hot. I tried it for a short time, it starts right away when cold, idles fine, accelerates without issues, it restarted fine there, but I could not try it in the wood at the owner's place. How hard would it be to diagnose and fix the restart issue?

Sounds like it would be something small if it runs and restarts well for you.
