what about using 12 v battery
and why using the resistor
Battery power could be increased for more during but you'll have to adjust the voltage for led as per its requirement.
Resister is decreasing voltage to 3 volts for the charging led.

Of course! you can use it, but you'll have to make adjustments for the leds. Here I am using 3 volts led connected in parallel on an aluminium plate while my battery is producing 4.7 volts which is little bit dangerous for leds, that's why I am not fully charging my battery. If you will use 12 volts battery then there will be several ways to do that. You take four sets of 3 volts led & connect them in series or you use higher volt led lights. 2 of 6 volts in series or directly use 12 volts leds.all are depending upon led input voltage.

the led iight in the above link run with 85-265 Volt AC means it works on 220 volts directly & can not be run with the battery.

i have LED , which came with led drive( convert the 220 to something like 12watt, when i remove the led driver and direct connect the led light to a 12v source it works... and i want to make it rechargeable and works as emergency light

bilkul charge karega. agar charger ka switch off hua to charger battery current consume karne lagega. isay rokne k lye diode lagana zaruri hy ta k charger ka current aik taraf flow karey aur battery ka current wapis charger ki taraf na aye. Thanks for comments.

Hello, I have one question. If you leave the charger plugged does the batery blow up when it is filled up? does it heat up? what happens? does resistance increase exponentially? Thank you!

Resister is being used here to glow charging led while my battery is 4.7 volts only.. if you use 12 volts battery then calculate resister value according to ohm law. 12 (charger) - 3.2 (led volts) = 8.8 volts divided by .025 led amp = 352 ohms, if I am not wrong. Use nearest available bigger value. As you increase the value, glow will reduce but led will more safe. Now I am using battery power directly to the led, but in 12 volts case you must reduce voltage & match the volts according to led plate & must insert a resister between led plate & the battery as per the ohms law. Thanks.

I checked physically it takes 2 hrs to be fully charged & once I left it whole night & nothing was happend & the battery was fully charged without indicator. Now its all up to you, what to do.

I was thinking, battery looks like it has enough mass to where it shouldn't be a problem leaving the charger in all night... but can I recommend you try using a USB power bank for one of these lights? those cheap $3.99 banks. you can just buy it as-is, and use the cell and charging circuit included with your leds attached to it through the switch. the charging circuit will automatically ramp the charge current down to 0 once the cell has reached full charge. I find those 18650 cells to be super handy and they're everywhere nowadays.

Nice video. I am some how confused with the polarity of the LED and the junction Diode in the circuit diagram, the positive terminals are going to the negative terminal of the battery. Please enlighten me on that. Thanks.

I was going troll but... hell, this is actually really cool. The only thing that makes me uneasy is the heat of the LEDs right against the battery.
I'm using it daily 2 hours x 3 times due to electrical load shedding. Leds are placed on aluminium plate & heat up a little bit in starting when battery is fully charged & after few minutes it becomes normal & doesn't heart the battery casing. Thanks for your valuable comments.

Hello, how the battery charge cutover is being taken care? If it gets over charged what will happen?
No protection circuit is added in this project. You will take care of it yourself to keep charging for approx. 2 hours. But I leave it on charging for whole night & nothings happens even battery is not heating up.

For what you add 4007 diode and 1k resistor?
1N4007 diode is for stop the back flow of current from the battery to the circuit and 1 K resistor is for lower the voltage from charger to LED indicator.... Because charger voltage is 5.10 volt and LED driving voltage is 3.7 volt.... If you connect the LED directly to charger it will burnt out very soon....

It doesn't blow until more than 5 or 6 volts are not supplied. It will little bit heat up for some time until the battery reaches at 3 volts.
Plz explain connections M facing difficulty while connecting them....
Make it according to the diagram shown in the video. Only the difference I made connection (negative to the switch but you make (positive) like diagram. Thanks.

Wo charging led pe laga hy mgr plate par bhi wohi laga sakte hen mgr kam az kam 1 watt ka. 100 se 300 ohms ka laga lena jo 1 se 5 watts tak ka ho jo is resistor se bht mota hoga. us men aik led k lye quarter watt ka laga hy to is puri plate men bht ziada leds hen is lye wo garam ho jaega.

When i plug the charger in it gives a brighter intensity once i pull the charger off it gives low intensity.... can you tell me what to do? Is there any battery issue or what? And if yes then how should i fix it!

Charger is providing 5 volts while charging. Upon removing, lower brightness means running with lower current. That means battery issue. Its not fully charging or that is not 4.7 or 5 volts battery. How much volt is your battery?
Sir i have been using this light since last month. Its was a sudden accident ....though i didnt open it yet...its hard to tell you the exact voltage but i have the same size of light you are having....!
I have already told you what ever I understand. Its better to show it to any nearby technician, he will guide you better.

how much time does this battery takes from o% to 100% while charging what is capacity of this battery and what about over charging?
It charge within 2 hours, depends upon your charger's amp and well works for two hours during load shedding. But I kept on charging for whole night & nothing happens (no heat up). I will upload the new video soon the same rechargeable light with salvage laptop cells & I hope it will increase the duration.
