You can make a wooden dowel with a rounded end and hold your center control vent door open with the dowel. This works great if you can't figure it out. Position the dowel using a flashlight. About a footlong.
Using a long thin screwdriver , open vent , then stick in a piece of fuel hose , keep the end near the vent louver , so if needed like in winter , just slip it out so the defrost work ..
Thanks much for this video. I have an '89 300SE with center flap airflow problems. I now know that there are three major pieces that I should check: The solenoid actuator, the console switch, and the pods. Since my car is 28 years old, I'm going to replace the pods as a matter of course, and then hopefully it's fixed. If not, then I'll go with the actuator.
Thank you! Meanwhile, I'm having trouble finding the solenoid block actuator part-just in case I need to replace it. Do you by chance know the DB part number? Much appreciated.
Hi Thank you for all your efforts and Videos I have a question if you don’t mind. All of my AC and heater controls were working few days ago now it seems like it doesn’t have electric I checked the fuse is there a Relay or something what would you suggest ? The car is a 1984 w123 coupe 300cd
Pierre, I got a 01 Mercedes Benz c320 that only blows air under no through the middle vents, could it be the climate control or the heater flap motor actuator?
Pierre, I own a 1991 Mercedes Benz 500SL Roadster and I just paid to have the AC Recharged. The center console blows cold air, yet the two side vents and the floor vents blow hot air when they should also be blowing cold air. Also, there is a noise that goes on when the ac system is turned on and diminishes when turning the car wheel to the left. Dela who handled the AC recharge believes its an actuator issue. What are your thoughts?
I have a 1989 300 CE and the center dash vents are not working. The outer ones work perfectly and so does the defrost. Before I tear it all apart, can you give me some advise on what the problem is. My first guess is that it's either linkage or a bad vacuum pot. Also, what is the best way to access this area to work on it.
Hello my friend. I replaced the AC compresser and dryer. I vacuumed system ran leak test and recharged my 2001 e320 and I started it. It blew cold for about 5 minutes. As I got on highway it stopped blowing cold. Do u know any steps I missed. ??? I hope u can help me. Thanks. Sam

Hi, I have W211 2007 E220cdi RHD and driver side of center dash vent is not blowing hot or cold air. All other vents are working powerfull. Do you have any suggestions? Is it related to vacuum actuator? Can I fix it by myself? Do I have to go to MB service to reset the flaps via Star?

I have a 1991 300 CE I just had the Ac system fixed and I am getting cold air out the side vents but nothing out of the center vent. All of the vacuum was checked up to the the fire wall and all checked out. My car has passenger airbag. Is there any documentation or tutorial that would show me how to get to the solenoid so can check and replace them if needed. I already spent $2500 to get to this point and my service guy wants about $1200 more to fix the center air problem. These are rare cars and this one is in excellent condition I nan pay him or try to do it my self what is your opinion.
I have a C280 1999, the center dash vents not working too. I have taken the center vents off (Radio, ac control......), but I do not see any sign of actuator, if any must be inside of evaporator casing. Not sure what to do from here, any help appreciated.

We have a 1996 E320 that first had the power door locks stopped working. Then the center A/C vent stopped working. We've checked the fuses and reset the system. What should we check next?
I have a 1983 300sd. The AC was working just fine then one day it just stopped working, wouldn't even turn on the blower. There is out side air coming out from the vents, and the Climate control unit is not doing anything. Not changing the vents, the temperature, its inoperative. I am very confused. My car also has a hard time turning off now.

Thank you for the information. I have a problem keeping the outside cold air out. Apparently the outside vent is not closing. I have to stuff some small towels into the vents when I turn on the heat. I have a 1981 240d Mercedes and am using a 1980 240d Mercedes for a parts car. I wonder if there is a screw or a pin that has come out?
Got a 84` 380SE which has an intermitten rough idle. When the A/C is switched on the engine idles perfectly but, very little air is coming from the center vents on the dash. I have tried this on more than 10 times to verify all with the same results, a smooth idle. However, I noticed the throttle response is very sluggish with A/C on. With it off it responds very well. Will a A/C vacuum malfunction cause a rough idle and poor throttle response?
In my case, I'm currently facing a slightly different problem. My dash vents work but my compressor doesn't kick on to circulate the refrigerent. So my vents are not blowing cold air. I've tested the auxillary fan and the compressor itself to kick on. It work when I hot wire it. But when I put the relays back its not working at all. Including the auxillary fan.

these use vacuum actuators as well. I think many of them are located under the hood in the heater case, by the blower fan. Either the actuator for the center vents are bad, or the digital climate control unit has an issue.

this is a common issue....usually, the culprit is a slipping belt but it can also have to do with a signal interruption between the climate control unit and klima relay. sadly, this issue happens on a lot of cars with serpentine belts, and usually involves the relationship between the klima, the pushbutton controller and the voltage feedback from the compressor rpm sensor.

Hi, I have a 560 SEC 1988, lately I have a problem with the heater which seems to work backwards (no valve in the electro-magnetic tap, bypassed)?! put the climate control to cold the thing gets HOT, put it to warm and it cools down, rev the motor and it cools down. Why no valve is because with it in there is no heat at all, connected to controller, disconnected it heats marginally at idle only when revved it cools down. It has me stumped, all the vacuum boxes seem to work properly, or at least it seems that way, checked fuses, power to water electromagnetic valve new valve when fitted yes checked weather it works visually and with multi meter, vacuum boxes/airflow to vents do get regulated, switches seem to work ,aircon works. Any suggestions???,,,,,,,,, please?

Oh OK. I will check. There two by the right side by the AC filter

Any idea on a 2000 SL500 , center vents dont blow any air but sides and defrost do for about 5 to 10 mins then they stop
these use vacuum actuators as well. I think many of them are located under the hood in the heater case, by the blower fan. Either the actuator for the center vents are bad, or the digital climate control unit has an issue.
I have a manual 240d 1981 Mercedes. The 2 outside vents blow hardly any cool air but the 2 center vents will blow cool air. Should the 2 outside vents also work? I also have another question. As I am driving down the road I can feel the difference of the A/C clutch actuating and then releasing by the way it affects the engine. Is that normal for the 240d? I bought this car about 2 months ago so I am not sure if that is normal for the diesel. As the cabin temperature starts to warm up the A/C clutch actuates again and it drops the rpm of the engine. For a car that is 34 years old it is impressive. It is not the fastest car on the road but having the 4 speed manual over the automatic does make the car faster. I can keep up with the flow of traffic. I had a drunk hit my previous 240d automatic in April and even though I had some injuries I walked away from the wreck alive. So, I bought another 240d but this time with the manual tranny. To bad they didn't have a 5 speed available in this country like they did in Europe.

Any suggestions???,,,,,,,,, please?
coming right up!
