    We did this route in July 2020. Second night at Big Five Lake, third night at Cliff Creek? (At the crossing before going up Timber Gap.) Those miles from Black Rock Pass to the bottom were some of the longest miles I've encountered, all downhill. I think the map is wrong on the mileage. Or my boots were insufficient. Uphill was easier than the downhill! Thanks for posting this video!

    Awesome video. Actually planning to do this hike the other way around in September. What camera equipment did you use?

      Jordan Lujan for this trip I used a gopro hero 4 black ed. mounted to a Feiyu Tech gimbal. then I edited it in Premiere Pro. Glad you liked the video.

      David Bird I got the GoPro 5 I just need the gimbal. It makes a world of difference I've noticed.

      Jordan Lujan the gimbal does help a lot. although the gimbal is amazing the most important part is the editing.

    David, I enjoyed the video and would like to do this loop soon. A couple questions, if I may. I did not catch when you did the hike. It looks like September to me. Second, you went counterclockwise. I'm curious why you went that way and not clockwise.

    Hey David, Love the video - thank you! Question - where did you get the map where you outlined the trailhead?

    • @DavidBirdVideos
      @DavidBirdVideos  7 лет назад +1

      That is the National Geographic Trails Illustrated Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Its map number 205. The Nat Geo trails illustrated are my favorite maps. I have used them all over the world.

    How much physical prep did y’all do for this?

    • @DavidBirdVideos
      @DavidBirdVideos  4 года назад +1

      That is hard to answer. We didnt just do this isolated trip. We backpack and climb mountains once every 2 months and have been doing that for about 7 years. So none of us prepped. We were already in shape. Although one of the guys with us does not usually hike with us and he was really struggling. He was sick one of the nights. Doing it as fast as we did was strenuous each day. If you are worried add 2 more nights to it and do it at a slower pace. A lot of people do this route in 7 days and really enjoy it.

      David Bird yeah we’ve been working on bi-weekly hiking 9-14 miles a day. Just working on adding weight up until when we head out in August.
