Easily the lamest boss fight Kojima has ever conjured up in his 30 year career of bad boss fights. You don't even get less than 3 seconds to find a strategy. You literally have to look it up on the internet otherwise you die again and again and again and again. This isn't a matter of getting good. This is just bad game design
You can beat this without the box by just doing a cartwheel in the rhythm of the shots and not trapping yourself in the corner once the covers are gone. Also, this is Extreme, on Hard it's way easier and quite self-explanatory
@kordtone I started this boss thinking I would have to outsmart the fight since I can't shoot or throw grenades at her. I noticed the lights went out when she shot her gun. Maybe her gun draws power from the lights, so I can melee her when the lights are on. Nope, can't reach her - invisible wall. Okay, maybe her bullet deflection is electromagnetism, so if she has no electricity I could maybe shoot her. I try shooting her both with the lights on, in case she's not currently drawing power from the lights, and when the lights are off and she's shooting, in case the power that goes into her "shield" is being diverted into the gun. Nope, doesn't work. Okay, maybe if I shoot out all the lights, she won't have a power source for her gun or her magnetic shield. Nope. Umm... maybe I can lose her and sneak to the elevator once the switch turns on. Oh right, the invisible wall. Maybe she's a lesbian and I can throw a lewd magazine at her. Nope, guess not. Something to do with the barrels? Nope. Her shots randomly go straight through solid objects. Sometimes she's aiming on the polar opposite side of the room and they randomly hit you anyway. Is there a way I can use her weapon against her, by making the electricity arc back at her? I dig through my decades-long mental library of boss fight tactics. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Nothing works. What if I have to... shoot the elevator switch to call it down, and then Raiden will be able to escape? Nope. Eventually one of the actual tactics I was trying to do happened to take a really long time, and the fight just ended. I won. Oh. Okay. The answer was that I had to do... nothing. So it made me waste an hour on the assumption that I was engaged in a designed boss encounter. All these elements in the room that make you think you have to employ creative measures to win, like you've been conditioned to by the previous game, when there was no indication whatsoever that the objective was simply to survive. There isn't even any logical, interesting pattern to way you dodge her attacks, since you can evidently just run back and forth randomly, and I managed to do it completely by accident. Yeah, this is a huge pile of trash
@@CielBlanche The tiny health bar was indication enough for me to know that it wasn't a regular boss fight. However these are quotes from the codec calls during the fight: "Disengage her and get out." "Hang on until the elevator comes down again." "Your weapons can't hurt her, and you need to stay alive." "Use whatever cover you can find and evade her." "Don't even think about attempting melee combat. Keep your distance and evade her attacks." "Just buy some time until the elevator arrives!" "Raiden, the elevator should be down there any moment. Just stay out of her reach until then." Sometimes you can just read the manual/codec and get answers. Crazy stuff.
Yup, it's not flawless - you can get hit using this method. But it's still a straightforward strategy provided players don't mind one or two restarts to get through it!
