  • Its been 3 years since I last PB'd a Park Run but this Winter sees a return to speedwork and improving my 5K time so we're using Dalby Forest Park Run as a benchmark to build from.

I am also testing out the first carbon plated Trail running shoe, the North Face Flight Vectiv, so should be interesting to see if that gives me anything extra over the hard packed course.

Nice enjoy, I'm actually running early off piste on Saturday so if you see a bobbing redhead in the woods its most likely me lol

Really enjoyed that - turns are real pace zappers from 5ks to marathons! Well done and look forward to seeing the training progress.

Thanks and yeh those cut backs were a real pain...double whammy at short distances as you lose valuable seconds and then the momentum built up. If going for a PB later in the year I may choose a straighter course :)

Might not be the time you wanted, but one thing it gives you is the determination to put the work in. 👍
    Looks a lovely course.

Thanks mate, maybe where your training can lead to short term. Short drive so not a bad way to start a Saturday morning 👍

Dalby forest parkrun looks good. Not done that one before. I'd be interested on what runs and things your be doing between now and 3 Peaks.

Yeh its certainly a nice place to visit. Next video (released on Sunday) follows a little bit of training and later in the episode covers my week, but bare in mind this is the very early, ramping up phase of my plan so might be worth a watch and going forward I will try to talk more about this.

Of course now...my Strava is something I touch on in the next video because my training times do are always much slower than racing but its all part of the plan and way I train.

    Hi Darren,
What is your MAS ? About 17.5 km/h, right ?

Hey Ben, to be honest I've never had need to work that specific stat out so not sure...all my training goes on RPE (rate of percieved exertion) and I try to ignore the watch as much as possible because its caused me problems in the past, training too fast and outside of correct effort zones.
