I keep a lot of our surplus wire from projects and the pink wire was the first I grabbed. Fortunately it matched the beads and I kind of like bright, colored ear wires.
I don't know how I'm just seeing these but they're adorable!! I love seeing the two of you on videos together because I love the banter between the two of you!! 😂 😊🫶🏻📿♥️
Hi Steve and Debby. These earrings are awesome! I so going to make them! I already used the tips of piping bags to make spiral Christmas tree earrings, but your idea to have the wire with beads IN the pen tube is a really great idea! I have so many beads to chose from… Wish me luck! I can’t wait to start making them!
Another great idea is making a five round or six round spiral and then pulling it on each end that’s how I made my Christmas trees this year then you use the technique that you’re using putting the wire in the middle with the beads. I couldn’t keep them in stock this past holiday!
Those earrings are beautiful. I also have toothpicks handy when im doing my crafts but the technique you guys used with the straw and toothpick is pretty neat! I will try it sometime! Love all of them! Great job Steve! 👏
Thank you. We like to use stuff anyone can find around the house. $75 pliers are cool, but a toothpick can be priceless when nothing else will work as well.
Those esrings are so beautiful 😍 Thank you Debby and Steve for teaching us that trick and please do keep on creating more easy projects like this one ❤
how gorgeous!!! i just love the idea of using a pen!!! and how perfect .... i could never get spirals even , or matching , so this looks fool proof !!! ty for a great video u 2 ..... cant wait to try this!!!
Yup. Great idea. Debby tried this before she found her pen, except the marker wasn't dried up. DON'T DO THIS WITH A FRESH MARKER!!! When they say "permanent" they mean "permanent". She has sworn me to secrecy so I can't go into details, but I'm sure she'll be fine in a couple of weeks.
I have seen wires not being perfect sized. However, I have more issues with beads having smaller holes. I buy them on strings or I string to make certain that they will work in my creative endeaver. A cheap bead reamer helps clear the bead too.
Hello! Thank you so much for sharing this technique! This is the first time I've seen you, and the first couple I've seen working together. Good for you both, sharing a fun hobby. ❤ (Do they still make Slinky toys?)
Thanks for coming. We have always tried to work together in business and hobbies. But I will have to say, I was dragged kicking and screaming into the jewelry business. That is story for another time. And, yes, they still make slinky toys. We have one in the Grandkid cupboard.

For the ear wires I use 20 or 22 if copper or plated/enameled copper, but 22 gauge will have a harder time keeping its shape. I will also usually use a nylon or leather hammer to work harden the wire after it is formed and hammer flat the back of the loop to give some rigidity to it. The spiral, I just use 20 gauge. All of the wire is usually dead soft for ease of bending, but sometimes I'll use half- hard for the ear wires. Just keep in mind, there will be more spring back when using half-hard, so you will need to use slightly smaller mandrills to let the same size loops. Would you be interested in a video tutorial on this? Let me know.
Love these pink earrings. 💗

What a great idea. Thank you. I particularly liked learning to snip that flat portion off the inside of the small spiral. It makes it much cleaner!
Thanks. It's the little things that elevate a project from good to great I think.
Wow, genius!!! Thanks 😊
Wow!! Don't think we've been called that before. Thanks.

I have so many beads to chose from…

Thank you and good luck. Now I absolutely have to get out my piping bag tips and try making spiral cone earrings.

Thanks for the tip. I do something similar to make Christmas tree earrings. I should do a tutorial when winter comes around again.
thanks ... i never would've thought of that ... can't wait to try it
It's one of those ideas where you just slap your head and wonder why you didn't think of it before.
@ it is! Thanks again. I’m so glad I found y’all!
Flipping brilliant
I'll bet you are flipping brilliant also.
Great idea! Thanks for this video. I will try it also because I have some colored wire that I can play with!
Thanks for watching. Post a picture on our Facebook Group when you get it finished.

Thanks and good luck. It's fun when a technique just works every time.
How cool and ingenious was that???!!! I cannot wait to try this myself!!!💜💜💜 Thanks so very much for sharing this with us!!!
Thanks. Give it a try then make sure you show us what you made on the Facebook Group.
Take apart a dried up marker and use that for a different size spiral.

Cool technique!
Thanks. Debby came up with it. We now have a whole house full of disassembled pens in various sizes and shapes.

Coolest thing I've ever seen in jewelry creation! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks. We strive for "cool".

A lot of truth in what you say. We've learned from sad experience to always check and to not necessarily trust the sizes we get from the vendors.
@homestrungjewelry exactly
Love it. Thank you. ❤
Thanks.
I wish there was a still close-up of that last little bend you did before you attached the ear wires.
Opening the loop on the ear wire? Or the loop at the end of the spiral? Either way, I'll try to do better in the future.
Thank you so much for showing us your video. I would love to see some more simple and easy projects. 🥰
We'll get you some more, real soon.
@homestrungjewelry ❤️ Thank you. ❤️
Now I know what I'm going to use my colored wire for.
Another great idea. Show us the results. Please.
I agree!!
Such a fabulous idea and just an amazing technique! Thank you so much!!!

Obrigado pelas dicas.
Did you use 20 gauge wire on all your earrings? Is that the best gauge to use?
For the ear wires I use 20 or 22 if copper or plated/enameled copper, but 22 gauge will have a harder time keeping its shape.
