jake and gator were cooking a five course gourmet meal at the end of this. i don't really watch ow esports that much, but I can guarantee i would be 5x more likely to if it showed something raw, something interesting about the players, the venue, anything about the show worth seeing.
I also liked that they acknowledged that it doesn’t make sense for many NA players to give 100% given the current system. I hope it changes but that’s what’s it is for now
I agree the tournament was not amazing and worse than OWL but Gator saying these things don’t happen in other games is quite ignorant. Valorant: Reykjavik ‘22 The EU 1st seed can’t make it at all and the 2nd seed has two subs, Copenhagen ‘22, Tokyo ‘23 and even the current Shanghai event he name dropped have teams with subs. League had the situation with match fixing meaning most of the Vietnamese league were ineligible for an international, one year there were extra slots for EU because a VCS team couldn’t make it. In CS there’s been multiple instances of coaches playing in big tournaments due to players being unavailable. Tech wise, LCK was being ddos’d for weeks, VCT Pacific started this year with a ridiculous pause even longer than dallas. These things happen and they’re unfortunate and need to be fixed, but we shouldn’t say OWCS is unique for this.
This, I was really wondering wtf he was saying, especially only a few weeks (month?) after LCK had I don't know how many pauses because of ddos, or even Apex and not-Moist esport that had visa issues no matter what they tried. still doesn't make it good, but he sounded really stupid on these
Absolutely fire episode, guest appearances have been on point lately. Props to jake and gator for all the ideas - can't wait to see them come to fruition. They really make me hopeful and excited for the new chapter of ow esports
The idea of bts content is so good, that stuff is content gold and has barely been scratched the surface. I personally love what avrl has been doing with the irl content and player interviews from the past few lans, as well as uncoachable and platchat bringing on guests and doing side interviews, i think more content in that vein would be awesome
Great episode, I agree with some other viewers’ sentiment: one of the best. Loved the energy and the enthusiasm for future broadcast ideas. Really looking forward to the idea of a roaming camera crew
Real take: these guys are the future of the overwatch esports product success. Johnny, Jake, gator, any whoever else is bringing this level of excitement and passion to the production of overwatch esports. The sky is the limit with these guys able to contribute ideas and pitch ideas aimed at growing overwatch. They have their finger on the pulse of the ecosystem more than anyone. Grow this thing. Turn it into something spectacular. What overwatch lacks in size, it makes up for with commitment and passion. The future is bright for overwatch esports with these guys at the helm.
My only problem with this whole making ow esports more like reality tv thing is the fact that we’ve been asking for this for years and years but the people at the top with the power have shown absolutely zero effort to change anything. Everyone with power in overwatch is far too kind and safe to make any of these sweeping changes that the fans and teams are proposing. People need to remember that as long as sean miller and the rest of them lot remain at the top, overwatch esports is never gonna become what we want.
I'm glad Jonny brought up the grid walk in Formula 1. It's fantastic and overwatch could benefit from these unscripted, raw interviews. It's one of the best parts of the show and has it's own aura
As much as Gator yapped this episode, he’s absolutely right. NA is pathetic and will never win a title at this rate. We never want another Alarm situation. Ever. But then again, nobody will ever come close to him for the same reason.
Not sure how the April Fools patch happens, but legit that same day I loaded up a code in customs and the AF patch was active and I had no clue how to turn it off lmaooo can I also get that $30 course?
Gator saying Shock were just happy to be there and didn't care about winning at all is just an ignorant take. Sure they are entertaining personalities and will joke about it being a free holiday but it's undeniable that they care about improving and wanting to win.
@@centmonitor6435 i gotta be honest I love PGE and he is the most marketable player in thr team for sure but if you want to have a chance to compete internationally you may need to look for another hs ://
Gator continues to be a disappointment. The guy said the results were predictable, we already knew who was going to win. Probably do a better job as a coach, and have your team go in with a winning mindset. I'd say any team with a mindset going in saying, "Oh we are going to lose, it's predictable". Get them the f*k out! Complaining about twisted minds, when it seems M80 was in the same boat.... pathetic. I've never seen anyone with this many excuses.
The results were predictable??? Anyone with a brain knew the apac teams were ahead of everyone else months ago, they have the highest player quality, strongest mentals, best work ethic, they get the best Practice. This just feels like weird gator hate bc you don’t like the guy personally he’s just being honest. Toronto has a much better roster than M80 and performed the same and you don’t seem to be hating on them.
@@baseebird This must be that bad NA mentality. Probably the same reason they are out from qualifying. Gator somehow has others believing being bad is ok, as long as it can be excused. Whereas a coach like Christopher, has half the talent on a roster, beats Gator every year in every imaginable way. All of this while not needing to justify why he lost. But for some reason Gator defenders are here... irony abounds?
@@laughingnotlooking he never said being bad is okay? He’s saying the current Na mentality is that like current Shock being happy they got last, he said when he got 8th 6 years ago he was mad about it, it’s a different generation which is why Na is in its worst state since launch. It was also a map 5 against SSG his team wasn’t even motivated, a lot of them are going to retire.

This was one of the most entertaining Plat Chat episode in a while ngl
the abrupt interviews should be for like big matches it’s a good idea but shouldn’t be overdone imo
More raw unhinged official OWCS content would go hard

Honestly, fantastic episode, one of your best IMO!
Take a shot anytime Gator says "yeah/yep/yes."

Hawk's "threepeat my ass" was still one of the most iconic OWL moments ever and that was seconds after the win

Gator looking for 5 players that are winning and able: 6 msgs immediately go "willing not able"

great episode, love gator's energy and great insight from everyone
The Korean teams have been playing LAN with live audience for a while so none issue for them. I think they still would've been dominant however
